If your gonna rock up at any event, ever. This is the one you want to be at!

autogyro 07-23-2013 07:10 PM

That's going to be amazing!

Xauterus 07-23-2013 07:16 PM

Damn a bit more notice would have been good.

Wise 07-23-2013 11:12 PM

By coincidence and luck I'm actually in Sydney that weekend and staying at a mates place 5 mins down the road.

Do I need to have a club membership or a car to rock up or can I turn up in my mates car and come along?

crouchy35 07-24-2013 01:09 AM

Wow! That is amazing and im seriously considering driving Adelaide>Sydney for it.

Do you know if he is going to any other states or how i would find out that information?

Thanks
Josh

ZZT86 07-24-2013 01:28 AM

You don't need club membership, if your car isn't an 86/BRZ or AE86 though you will have to park outside.

86drift 07-24-2013 07:32 AM

There will be a registration page up within the next couple of days.

This will also be a show and shine with small prizes to be won.

Juvenile 07-24-2013 11:17 PM

Regos going quick, get in ;)

Only 117 spaces to go!

(wow, that's gonna be a lot of 86/BRZs...)

st162celica 07-25-2013 11:21 PM

They should extend the entries and try it make it as big as possible.

From what the guys running the NSW club have said, the limit is purely down to site capacity & catering

If you have a local/state 86/BRZ club, get them to contact Toyota (and possibly the guys running the NSW one, such as @86drift there. Toyota Headquarters in Australia is actually down in Melbourne, so I guess there's a possibility Tada-san will visit there as well.

Firefly 07-29-2013 01:51 AM

What's the line up for the day? A show & shine with a speech by Tada-san?

Wise 07-30-2013 01:09 AM

Will Tada be doing any signings?

Wouldn't mind getting my copy of Top Gear Car of the Year or the Wheels 86 Special Edition Booklet signed by the man himself.

kajun 08-01-2013 11:01 PM

Looks like fun. Wish we could join you guys.

alexm86 08-05-2013 11:13 PM

Registrations for this have closed now by the way guys. The event has been deemed at capacity.

Nafe 08-09-2013 07:32 AM

haha ^^ that post was made on 6th august.... :P

PB86SS 08-12-2013 05:26 AM

Hey guys, I've joined the forum so I could post some photos we took on the day. I'm Pete, Stephanie is my better half, and I'm using my number plates as my forum tag. If you see us around Sydney give us a wave huh? :happy0180:
Here's the photos, sorry about the general iPhone crappiness:

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps9772ef7a.jpg

Waiting in line before the gates opened. Glad to have met Juvenile, I like his subtle mods too. There was an awful rear-end accident here on the main road and I hope the guy in the grey 86 is ok.

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8851e348.jpg

View back at the line waiting to enter. Never get tired of saying 'hey, nice car!'

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...psa0e3a1a4.jpg

Tada-san escaped his minders and started greeting peeps at the gatehouse! Controlled mayhem ensued!

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0a4adf15.jpg

It's like his babies are coming home to roost.

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...psbbdaa025.jpg

Doesn't he look like a proud father?

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps436181de.jpg

One of three car parks full of 86s.

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1d4772c4.jpg

And another car park full. It was great to fully appreciate each colour in the bright winter sunshine, photos never do justice to these cars.

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...psd9af5f70.jpg

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...pse30972b7.jpg

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps094544f2.jpg

My missus is an avid Doctor Who fan and loved this number plate. She wanted to call ours 'The TARDIS' but I said no. If I agreed to that then she'd probably make me dress up as David Tennant. There's only so many ladies one man can beat away with a stick :paddle:

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps91925714.jpg

Tada-san giving his welcoming address. Don't forget boys and girls, it's all about PASSION, NOT COMMITTEE! (never get tired of that!)

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps242124b2.jpg

Beau Yate's soon-to-be rally 86. Just look at the workmanship, sexy time!

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...pse7f1ca83.jpg

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7be9f152.jpg

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps91e97a91.jpg

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps60f6da20.jpg

(In Borat vocal style) Is niiice, I like!

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps314fb216.jpg

Tada-san's handling optioned 86 out near the merch stand. Gotta love the VO and those rims, very nice.

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...pse7ef99b8.jpg

The missus having her t-shirt signed by the great man himself. Tada-san must have been signing stuff for nearly three hours, he's so cool. I wonder if he knows just how happy he has made all of us?

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps35943837.jpg

Tada-san was nice enough to sign my owner's manual, as well as pose for a quick photo. Great success!

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps337c053d.jpg

After Tada-san cut the massive 86 birthday cake, we grabbed a slice and were about to take off. My father-in-law appeared out of nowhere! He's a crafty one and loves his cars. Not sure how he got through the gatehouse but I guess he did buy a new Corolla last year so why not?

http://i1295.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8d9170db.jpg

As the event was closing, the marshalls got everyone still on site to form a motorcade and park along the main road within the grounds. Tada-san went to the front of the queue and a photographer snapped everyone from atop a ladder. Tada-san then waved everyone off.

Thank you to Toyota, Neal Bates, Beau Yates, everyone involved in the various car clubs and of course Tada-san - we had a great day. Nice to have a yak with our fellow 86/BRZ/AE86 fans too. See you out there, drive safe.

Juvenile 08-12-2013 08:24 PM

Thanks for the pics Pete and nice to meet you guys too ;)
I was in awe of all that 86/BRZ talent and forgot to take pics myself, here's one I did take though

PB86SS 08-12-2013 08:45 PM

@ davey90: Your rims are awesome man, me jelly!

@ Juvenile: No worries, I was the same, wish I took more shots of the AE86s and BRZs but was standing in line for ages to meet Tada-san!

@Juvenile nice car :P

PB86SS 08-13-2013 07:27 AM

Does anyone know the dude who's 86 was rear-ended on Capt Cook Drive before the gates opened? We were near when it happened and when we realised it was an 86 we felt so bad. Hope he's alright and the car is repairable. I didn't want to look.

ZZT86 08-13-2013 07:35 PM

I feel so sorry for the bloke & I wasn't even there . . . probably going to the festival too :/

Dunno what happened with his car though.

sucks he got his ass kissed by a Brazilian dude with no insurance driving an old Subaru Wagon. :(

MACCAA 08-19-2013 11:09 PM

Then to add insult to injury, when the Police turned up it was "oh well no-one died-see yah".Didn't even do a report or book him.But if you do 3kph over the speed limit......
