FR-S trade in... on what?
So I am not happy with my fa20... I have considered boost but I am not sure thats the answer.
what would you trade it in on? no fwd, prefer rwd but awd would be ok. |
Kind of need to know what you're not happy about, in order to recommend something else...

Used C5/C6 Corvette and Mustang Boss 302 are all decent handling American RWD cars that got plenty of power. |
Here you go dude..
It's RWD and I think you'd look just right in it. http://trialx.com/curetalk/wp-conten...a_Previa-3.jpg |

I like sliding around and general shenanigans but i would like it have track ability as well. I looked at a 370, genesis coupe, even an sti... just not sure. |
I agree with @OrbitalEllipses. A sed C5 Z06 will give you decent power, probably cost about the same and they handle really well....even stock. Good luck in your search

yeah i dont think i can do the vette thing...
i really like the frs, but to spend half the value of the car to be able to out run a mini van when merging with no hope of reliability is a drag. |

I'm ready to trade in my car because of the fucking transmission.

Need a back seat? Consider a 6.0 GTO? It's not light at ~3700lbs, but a great highway cruiser and plenty of power.
|
back seat isnt an issue. the frs isnt a daily so neither will whatever i trade it on.
|
Then buy the best performance car for the money. C5 Z06. If your budget allows mid 30s, C6 Z06.

used 911

It sounds like you care much more about straightline speed than cornering, etc. For straightline speed under $30K it is hard to beat a Mustang GT for a new car. Used car? I would be all over the Vette. The Vette and Stang GT will crush any other car you have mentioned. |
I dont drag race at all..
i have an 83 rabbit track car for actual road racing and auto x duty... previously had a stand alone setup with a 20g on my starions. it made around 450hp so that is what i am used too. |
Porsche Boxster. Can find them used for cheap, has boxer, handle great, and good power for size. Plus you can drop the top.

The genesis isn't that much of a hooligan tool. STI as said above, won't really slide much unless you wanna start to rally. I'll just agree with everyone and go for the C5 Z06. |

I really don't want a vette....
I was looking at terminators on the web. They seem like they could make me smile when I turn the key, I figure with appropriate suspension they might not suck on the track.... |
Well since you're not into the vette. I have a 350z and love it. I would recommend it to anyone looking for more power and from what I've read the 370z handles slightly better than the 350 and as long as the traction control is enabled you will never slide out (given the roads are dry etc.) Hell you can get a used 09-10 370z for the same price as a new FRS and put the extra cash saved into better suspension and sway bars. Thats my 2 cents Good luck in your search.

yeah i need to test drive a 370, i hated the 350 i drove when they came out. seemed bloated and slow to react.

1600$ every 30k miles for their required maint.. They have to disassemble so many things to get to the serviceable parts.. Great to drive.. But so complex and difficult to maintain.. |

So makes me appreciate the Twins !!! |

BMW Z4 maybe?
But really, the answer is S2000, unless your over 6' tall or fat. Which of course rules out 80% of America. |

Just buy a used turbo miata with aftermarket suspension.
p.s. oh wait.. I forgot you're 6'2"... In that case, a ford focus ST. Those things can drift too just not power drift... |
Forced induction seems like the easiest solution to your problem then unless you just flat out want a different car. It would not be hard to update your car to the point that it would easily walk a stock S2000. Since you are considering used the warranty may not matter much anyway.

Overall, I liked the car aesthetically. Power is good. Feel of driving is good. But it is very race carish. Reminded me of my old crx that was fast and slammed to the ground. I only wanted to drive it if I was racing on smooth pavement cause otherwise it would beat me to death enough to were I couldnt enjoy a cruise. |

Viper isn't for everyone, that's why you see so many for sale with so many owners, a lot of people don't have the balls to drive one fast, nor do i. But i respect it for not making any sense for at the time it came out...what really was there? |
Toyota Supra Turbo, you're welcome.

Biggest issue you are going to have is heat. With a V8 and a "Heaton" supercharger, you will have a lot of it. I was running a ported blower with two tunes. The 3.1 pulley was for open track and the 2.76 was for daily driving (500 horse). Just to give you an idea of heat soak, my first pull with the 3.1 put out around 475 to the wheels. Second pull was down to 450, third 415 ish. You ABSOLUTLY will need to spend money on cooling (Heat exchanger, oil cooler, radiator, 170* thermostat), and an open track tune (more fuel, less timing) Terminators are GREAT cars and with a forged bottom end from the factory and a T56, they are hard to beat. Remember, they are HEAVY and unless you are planning on running a very high rate coilover spring, they will still produce more body roll than the FRS factory, but the ride will hardly be comfortable on the street. They CAN be used as a track car, but you are looking at quite a bit of money on cooling and suspension. http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...psbfc0412e.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...A731951468.jpg http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h8...DSC_0036-1.jpg |
