Do you drift with your FR-S

So I took my FR-S out in the rain earlier and I found it extremely easy to handle and maneuver this car. I used to practice with a 240sx but this car seems much more balanced. Iam pretty sure alot of you drift with it but I can't find any videos on YouTube. If you guys can put links to watch some of you do it, it would be great.

Since we're on the topic of drifting, has anybody's wheel bearings failed yet?

When the housing market was huge and houses were going up left and right there were plans to significantly expand my subdivision. By the time construction finished on the new streets and cul-de-sacs the market crashed and the plan to build new houses was put on hold.

So now there are a bunch of empty roads and cul-de-sacs behind my subdivision. Sometimes when I am bored I will take the car out and play on those empty roads.

There is one stretch that is pretty good for drifting and one time I hit a drift that was so good it felt like a crime, lol! I am by no means a professional driver and it was my first good drift. I don't do it often because I want to save my wheels. I am installing rocket bunny around the first of the year though, and that of course means new wheels, so I will practice more then.

Same here. I have a huge twisty brand new subdivision near me without a house to be seen :). Been this way for three years..

They have started moving heavy machinery in, so my days are numbered....

having owned my STi for 3 years it's much more fun. It's just as fast through tight canyon roads, and even autox i bet.

Same here, I saw the materials for a new house sitting one of the lots earlier today. I guess all good things come to an end at some point. I might go drive those roads tonight while I still can.

Don't worry bro. When construction starts, you can just start ramping shit. You might even win a trip to Japan!

From drifting? Nope, need to crash into something to mess them up

No I don't. I did enough of that with my first car, a 69 camaro RS, back in Buffalo NY when I was a kid. Of course we did not call it drifting back then, we just called it winter driving.

zc06_kisstherain 07-30-2013 10:44 AM

no. don't want to mess up. had enough of that with my miata on rainy and winter weather.

Funny you mentioned that, I'm getting my passenger front bearing replaced right now. Happened while drifting but I think it was from the wheel dipping off track and then hitting the asphalt hard when it went back on

frslee 07-30-2013 12:13 PM

Someone should start a thread with drifting videos! Of course in a closed safe space. I attempted to try in an empty parking lot, but for some reason I thought doing too much could give stress/damage to lsd. Anyone can chime in?

There was one guy who posted vids of him drifting in a parking lot but he got busted for endangering the public and had to sell his car due to skyrocketing insurance rates. Someone from Minnesota bought it and called it 5000 lightly used miles. I guess he did not see the videos.

Moral of the story? Be careful where you drift and check to see who is watching.

Ahh that sucks! I'm actually interested in drifting the BRZ but I have this weird paranoia about the wheel bearings.

Drifting breaks shit. Full stop, end of story. But the hit I took was enough to bend my wheel as well so verry likely the bearing bust was from that.
