The Joy of Driving

So these cars are already fun enough to drive to start making excuses to go places but here is a short example of what happened yesterday.

After installing my OEM Audio Plus system yesterday morning I went on a quick little drive to listen to the new amazing crisp, clear and powerful sounds.
My wife came outside as I just returned and said she was running to Target and if I wanted anything. I told her no but really I wanted some tomatoes and lettuce for a kick ass taco night I was craving to create. Once she returned I asked did you happen to get lettuce and tomato..."no you never told me to get that" to which I happily replied "oh well I guess I will have to go...be back soon".

Then again this morning I took the longest way possible while running errands that I would normally just ask her to do them all.

The point is, this car makes me find excuses to go drive and now with a complete audio experience to go with it, life's little errand runs and work commutes just got a whole lot happier.

Oh and thank you to whoever was in the beautiful silver FR-S around town for the thumbs up!

I know exactly how you feel. Makes my days at work a little better knowing I get to drive the BRZ home...maybe the long way home. :D

(BTW, you have me intrigued with that OEM Audio system upgrade. My wallet thanks you. ;) )

Your wallet may not but your ears will!

It's all fun and games til your wife starts questioning why you keep leaving the house to go on random "drives". :bellyroll:

so true. I do the exact same thing. My room mate and I usually alternate driving places if we wanna tag along. Hes got a '13 Speed3 that I know he loves to drive, but I usually say I will drive and he says okay haha. Saves him gas money.

The car is an extension of ourselves as enthusiast drivers. It is the grown up version of the bicycle that we all used to cherish as kids (and still do). The act of driving for the sake of driving is a way to challenge ourselves while also serving as a form of entertainment - not unlike playing a multiplayer FPS like Natural Selection 2, or SC2, or whatever. I feel great satisfaction in getting a perfect rev match, in precise and quick gear shifts, in controlling my car through curves and corners just as I do in Natural Selection 2 when I get a well timed fully charged railgun shot to cause a fade to explode in mid air.

Lol I can relate. It was a nice sunny day and I offer to drive my sister to work.

What is this "OEM Audio Plus System" you are referring to?

And NO I'm not going to use the search or look on google! I'm lazy damn it! :)

I know the feeling well. Before my FR-S I had a Miata that I truly enjoyed. It was in it's 11th year when I traded it in for my FR-S and it had 38,000 miles on it. My FR-S is 11 months old and it will turn 12,000 miles in probably another two weeks. Over the years I've owned a few sports cars that I would consider muscle cars; Mustang, Corvette, Porsche 911 and I've never had a car that gave me the pleasure I get when driving my FR-S. To me the thrill is driving my car as if it were a fine time piece; with perfection.
