Just got a call from the dealership. Release date is in June.

Hey I know im going to get yelled at for not checking if someone already posted this buuuuuuut... I just got a call from the scion dealership. The guy told me that the release date is being pushed back from April to June. I kinda figured that would always be the date. I asked if the first 86 would still be getting it in April and he said no.

More time to save up for that downpayment! :D

I didn't even know there was an offical release date announced. Are you sure the sales guy isn't just telling you this so you don't get your hopes up? For example, the car I have ordered is (according to the sales guy) arriving in May. He did say that they expect pricing to be announced in April though.

Honestly, I don't think there ever was an offical release date ever announced other then the Japanese GT86 model.

If your correct, I suspect June 8th is the release date. It is the 8th day of the 6th month! As with some of the forum posters, I've suspected all along that this is the day.

I agree completely.

I don't ever remember seeing an April release date. So how it can be "pushed back to June" doesn't seem normal to me.

It can't really be pushed back if it never was intended to be released in April. I always thought the release was to be late May early June!

Honestly, I think the dealer is just telling you your order wont be in until June so you don't freak out on them come April.

Your dealer called because you've been bumped, someone offered him a nice premium to jump the queue...

Well I remember AutoTrader.com saying the release date was in April, it fact, they still do http://www.autotrader.com/research/n...dpage=HPTABRCH .

What he told me was that they had been told that the release date was going to be in April, but that they were contacted my Scion this morning and were told the release date is now in June.

Either way, one month or three months it's still right around the corner! :burnrubber:

Rabble 03-12-2012 08:38 PM

I've always been told june...

jcutner 03-12-2012 09:16 PM

I talked to my scion sales rep today and he said they are getting an allocation of 4 FRS's in April. He said he would call me the 1st week in April. He said he should have the color and trans descriptions by then. Thats all he knows right now. :burnrubber:

I've been going back and forth on the BRZ and the FRS but seeing as the BRZ is "expected" to be in "limited supply" I'll pass on the bidding duels and go with my original choice and get the Toyota version. I only hope I can get the JDM led DRL headlights, aftermarket.

Yeah, no kidding. Nothing like confidence inspiring and heart pounding after thinking you just bought a Subaru, assume that it's AWD then punch it in a corner in the rain, breaking the rear tires loose and into a guard rail.

:)

maxeveland 03-13-2012 11:39 AM

yeah every dealer will tell you what they think. The consensus among most people is sometime in May

Yes, for the USA BRZ market.

viper_driver 03-13-2012 12:15 PM

This is the same thing I heard (cars here in June) when I put my deposit down in Dec. I guess my dealer knew what he was saying.

Hawaiian 03-13-2012 12:28 PM

My dealer told me june for the first allocation as well

Funny thing is we got to place our orders a week before USA... Dealer called me the week before asking me to confirm all my choices... When I called him back on "The official order day", he told me that everything was done the week before.

WhiteGDB 03-13-2012 04:22 PM

But mmyyyyy dealer said..... F dealers, they don't know shit. Most here know more than most dealers and a lot of dealers get their info from here.

tripjammer 03-13-2012 04:29 PM

Its going to be June because no FR-S units have been ordered yet. No dealer has placed any orders and no dealer knows when a car is coming out. If they say in April they are lying.

They have not even produced a production FR-S yet. They probably will in April or early may.

Not according to my dealer. My dealer confirmed for me that my FR-s was being ordered on the 1st of this month for delivery sometime in May. I'm 6th out of 15 in the cue and they expect my car to be delievered in the first batch.

The only thing is, they're not able to specify colour. So I'll get the 6th pick of whatever they have when the cars finally get here.

I'm guessing you must have some sort of access to the Toyota/Scion ordering system. I'm not sure if it makes any difference but I'm in Canada and so maybe the systems are seperate from the US?

Like most here. I am anxious to get my butt into one of those sexy bucket seats, but the longer it takes the more down payment I will have ready to go. I am honestly hoping for late July. My local dealership knows SQUAT. Or he is just not telling me anything. He says they will get an allotment. Hey said they are "hoping" for around 12 cars and "thinks" they will all be manuals. That makes sense to me as far as transmission goes as its mainly enthusiasts buying these care and we generally like our manuals. So long to wait. :D

That means they have not placed an order yet. You are just in the cue. Nobody has ordered yet. The subaru BRZ orders were real orders. They even got order numbers. Those cars have not been built yet, but they are real orders. The FR-S has not started production. The first FR-S built with be the first 86 winner units. Those will come in May, and the rest will come in June 8th and later...

zAnSh1n 03-15-2012 06:36 PM

my friends mom works for toyota, so i inquired about the fr-s to her and she told me it's not in the system, so no go just yet... but as soon as it pops up, i'll put in my order...

as much as i want the brz, can't say no to bypassing the stealership + discounts

Plus its still amazing that some many people ordered the BRZ and they still don't know what the price is going to be..

zAnSh1n 03-15-2012 07:14 PM

i have 2 pre-orders thru 2 suby dealers atm just in case, since i was initially set on the brz, but i will most likely retract my deposits when the pricing is announced in a few weeks... unless if the brz is only marginally more than the fr-s; but then again, hard to say no the fr-s since it's practically the same car and the discount is a huge factor, to state the obvious...

You telling me if Scion opened ordering on 3/1 as well you and others wouldn't have done the same thing? I be there would be hundres on the FRS side stating they ordered and what colo.

I'm in Toronto and I have already put in a pre-order for my FR-S. I was told my dealer already had another 4 ordered when I put my cash down for mine.

He said he was expecting a maximum of 12 for his dealership.

What I meant to say was there were people who put down non-refundable deposits on the BRZ and ordered and still don't know what the price of the car is going to be. Refundable deposit I see no problem with that.

Normally they don't let you place an order for a car without knowing the price.
