South Coast Subaru and Irvine Subaru

South Coast Subaru:

Spoke with Sales rep on the phone who told me that they are going to be receiving 8 cars and have 25 pre-orders that will be sold at a minimum of 5k over MSRP.

Irvine Subaru:

Getting 35 cars between May and the end of the year, the pre-order list is filled up and now they're only taking names. They expect for the lot cars to be arriving in May/June and the ordered cars in July/August.

El Cajon Subaru:

Per Todd the Sales GM they are not taking pre-orders they will sell them as they come in.

Kearny Mesa Subaru:

Spoke with Von, receiving 11 and 4 have already been sold, so there are 7 left. $500 deposit.

I may have missed the boat waiting for the damn prices to show up... But at this rate it seems that they will have enough pent-up demand to carry dealer markup into 2013 on these. That alone might push me into the FR-S simply because I don't want to wait another year :bs:

SPCorBUST 03-12-2012 02:18 PM

list updated.

hanabie 03-12-2012 03:28 PM

you can tell south coast subaru to F off.

mines13 03-12-2012 03:38 PM

My girlfriend preordred from South Coast. #2 on the list, there was no 5K over MSRP BS. You are talking to the wrong guy over there.

xrs 03-12-2012 03:51 PM

WOW! After seeing a BRZ in person, there's no way this car is worth more than a grand over MSRP - whatever that'll be. Friggin insane!

kash 03-12-2012 04:13 PM

South coast subaru also told me the depost is $1k and non-refundable. ha.. I took my pre-order else where.

Ryephile 03-12-2012 04:38 PM

I've done business with South Coast....and I will never again. They're incompetent morons.

What's "lot cars" mean? Are those the ones NOT included in the "preorder/group buy cars" i.e. the ones that we're on the list for? Meaning we don't get our cars till Summer?

zoomzoomers 03-12-2012 07:24 PM

The way that post was worded makes it seem that the dealers will sandbag the people with pre-orders since we're already in. Then jack up the prices for the "lot" cars. Pretty smart, and shaddy, if you ask me. They can mark up the lot cars to those who didn't pre-order and have fairly guaranteed sales for the pre-ordered cars. It's a win-win situation for the dealers. For those that pre-ordered they can say that they will be guaranteed a car and get MSRP to boot.

Let's hope that this is not the case...

From what I gathered, there are a number of cars that they are getting, and of those cars, they will try to sell them off the lot over MSRP first before turning them over to the pre-orders.

super shady.

Not only is it shady sounding, but that means that we who pre-ordered in the GB have to wait till Summer, right? F word!

I can hear it now...

"but remember... you'll get one for certain and at MSRP" :bonk::(

NERO 03-12-2012 08:01 PM

I still can't believe anyone would pay $5K over MSRP for the BRZ when the FR-S will not only be cheaper, BUT IT'S THE SAME CAR! Come on people! Do you really think that the because the car says Subaru and not Scion it's that much better? This reminds me of the same people that would pay $12K more for the Lexus over the Toyota when they are the same car and then watch the Lexus depreciate faster than the Toyota would have.

There are way too many entitled douchbags in the United States right now, we need a good Apocalypse.

It better be at MSRP, and they better not custom-print those window stickers for our pre-orders showing a higher than real MSRP prices. Before we all commit to buying, we gotta compare prices first to ensure we're all getting same "msrp" price at Irvine (and other places) lol.

Has pre-ordering opened up? I was reading that any pre-ordering there is not official, its just the dealer taking them without an order system or something.

Seems like there will need to be more diligence to get one of those cars, since they'll probably hit lot and get sold first thing...?

zoomzoomers 03-12-2012 08:17 PM

We should all set a date on a Sat/Sun and go in as a big group. So if they pull some BS, we all walk out together.

SPCorBUST 03-12-2012 09:41 PM

I'm in for that. We could say hey - whats the deal? If its going to be like this, we have more buyers for you. But if its going to be like that, then goodbye!

A lot of us already have our VONs, so I think that makes the pre-order pretty official.

must have been reading an old thread on 1st page :iono:

The thing is... just because we have a VON doesn't mean that they're not gonna pull a bait n switch on us. Sure they could give us the ordered car, but jack up the price.

True. VON != price agreed on group buy. We do get the car, so ordering has been opened up. It's just the price we're waiting on now... :mad0259:

SPCorBUST 03-15-2012 07:26 PM

all this waiting and no price... damn i'm this close to buying a fully loaded brand new X for 29 and saying F the hype and buy this car in a few years instead.

zoomzoomers 03-15-2012 07:30 PM

Got a call from a salesman from Nissan. Offering a fully loaded 370Z for very close to $35k. I'm toying with the idea. Or maybe even that GC 3.8. After hearing the exhuast sounds from that motor I'm considering it even more. Blah... this blows!

Be patient. Remember, my car is about to push 180k. Prolly is 180k already since I did alot of errands today. I'm in the position of "I need the BRZ" lolz.

stlgrym3 03-21-2012 05:12 PM

anyone know if South Coast Mitsubishi and South Coast Subaru own by the same owner? couple years ago i bought an EVO X from SC Mitsu and had a very good experience with the owner, i thought i heard something he owns the Subaru dealer too next door.

they're getting rid of '12 370Zs to make room for the facelifted '13 model.

SPCorBUST 03-23-2012 01:57 PM

there good cars...I use to have one...and there fun to drive...but you kinda miss having that coupe feel

Giccin 03-23-2012 04:26 PM

Gonna let you guys know first. That everyone going at once to get the car when its hot off the truck might cause a bottleneck.

Ask (Rick? Dammit forgot his name already. Lol) for an appointed time. Since you guys have everything worked out it should be in and out in roughly 1 1/2 - 2 hours after financing your payment, checking your credit, test driving and all of the liability work.

If you go with anyone else other than the dealer you're working with you MIGHT be missing some small detailed information.

And. Once you guys get your BRZ give me a heads up. I'll be more than happy to do a small photoshoot of rolling/panning or scenary shots.

Thanks for the tips :) I'm getting anxious. So anxious that I've been eyeballin GC's and Velosters :[. I even scoped the Scion website yesterday and was looking at a TC (yuck). And today, I was "building" a WRX on the Subie website... Can't believe it's so affordable for a turbo car---Wow.

Yah, they're taking too damn long to get this new car to me :( I'm afraid I'm straying as well... Even the FR-S is starting to look good :(

I hear that. Been looking at my other choices as well - all used though, no other new car (that I can comfortably afford) interests me at the moment.

Damn Subaru hurry up with the price at least!

SPCorBUST 03-26-2012 01:24 PM

just asked this in another thread:

Anybody know if pre-order invalidates LNT pricing discount? I believe there is a stipulation that you must contact them first and they will set you up with a dealer that accepts the discount. I'd for sure like to get the discount... May wait until my 6 months are up with LNT before I place the order...

What's "LNT"?
