Yes another Innovate Thread.... But I want to discuss intake options!

So which intakes would work.... has anyone made a custom intake? ATM it seems only the Perrin CAI would work properly w.o having to hack into anything. Was thinking about getting the AEM intake and chopping the hose at the box ending and throwing a coupler through it.... Thoughts?
@PERRIN_Mladen would it work?

What is your fascination with the pipe and filter?

nonicname 07-09-2013 07:33 PM

Is this one of those "owner's only" thread so you can feel special cuz you never belonged to anything before?

I see the trolls have nothing to do today.

swift996 07-09-2013 07:35 PM

this doesnt deserve a thread..picking up 5hp can be talked about in the owners thread IMO

umm, helping you save money to put towards other mods make more sense?

More intake noise is appealing for some. Not for me, but I won't knock someone else's kink. :)

Last I checked the discussion I was creating wasn't about picking up power. It was about creating a custom intake or a system that would match. Also sometimes it's better to create a new thread so a main thread isn't spammed with worthless comments that you can read above....

I got that but the same topic has been discussed in the owners thread. I can guarantee you that there will be many options available soon and that the gains will be about 5hp

This is the answer I wanted, why are people so defensive sometimes.
Anyways, if that is case, go for it.

Didn't robi put his stockbox back because it made more?

Yes that's what he claimed. Theres 4 other innovate threads, the choice of air induction/filter is probably not that relevant to the broader community. It just gets the vortech guys all in a hissy fit

I hate reading 3000 pages to get info esp when search brings up nothing.

gonna try to find a way to bladge the intake hose with my Injen intake. if it works, awesome, won't have wasted money on buying it. if it doesn't, oh well, have to find someone who wants to buy it.

If I do find a way to make it work, maybe I can convince my shop to let me do comparo dynos.

Fast_Freddy 07-10-2013 06:43 AM

It looks like it would be very easy to fabricate a new intake/filter system for the Innovate SC. I haven't looked into this but all I see required are some silicone couplers, a MAS adapter plate, some AL tubing and clamps. Since it won't add much, if any, power it's very likely that an aftermarket company will make this and charge a lot for it but you could easily make your own for far less if a certain intake sound is your thing.

$100 per whp is rape! Why do you people beg for it?

Nick,
In theory, it should work, but we are unsure as we have not actually fitted it on a vehicle with the innovate kit.

I have the Perrin intake with AVO Kit no hack needed. Although I can't say 100% it will work, I feel confident saying it should work (based on the fact both kits use the stock airbox).

sw20kosh 07-10-2013 12:56 PM

Robi had a custom CAI that worked with the innovate kit.

ftc~brz 07-10-2013 01:01 PM

I have an injen intake and my innovate install is friday. If anything watch my thread for a good deal on a gently used intake

I distinctly remember half a dozen vortech threads when it first came out, then when it made over X whp, then when someone did E85...the multitude of Innovate threads is inevitable given that its new.

sw20kosh 07-10-2013 02:36 PM

The supercharger whine was very quiet when I first installed it.

Now after about a month of driving... it is freaking loud now with the stock airbox.
