Khazzy's SWP BRZ Limited

Figured I would give this journal thing a go.

Ordered the car 25 Sept 13.

Deployed while I waited, it helped the time pass by. Also right before I left, I sold my 99 Integra DB8 (4 door if you do not know the car codes).

Received my car 12 Jan 13. Man was I happy!!! This was my first "new" car and I could not believe I was still sitting in my BRZ. I was the second SWP BRZ in Nebraska. I know the other person who got theirs. We both have very different tastes in this car which makes me happy since we probably will not make our cars look the same.

At first, I was going to hold out and not mod the car too much. I wanted to pay it off as soon as possible. I got the car for MSRP and do not owe much anymore. But....giving up an old hobby of mine freed up a ton of expenses, so naturally the modifications started so I could make this car truly mine!

The pictures will show an evolution from OEM Bone stock to what the car is today. Enjoy, there are a ton, nothing fancy as they are all iPhone 4s pics.

Grimmspeed offset license plate mount. I was messing with ideas for my vanity plates I wanted. Swerv is a name I have been given at work. Big Erv started the Swerv thing and so on. It came down to me wanting something fitting for the car. You will see late down the page of pics.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps2ba10009.jpg

Weather Tech floor mats. This was the most important thing for me. Nebraska winters are not forgiving to car interior floor mats. I want to keep the original mats in good condition. Purchased these badboys! Yes they are expensive but if you live in an area where it snows/rains a lot, these are a must!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps62144da8.jpghttp://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psbf206071.jpg

Right before 1000 miles....got this nasty chip. It took a fill but did not hide the crack. My Integra never got a rock chip that bad. These windshields are so thin!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psbd3617f0.jpg

JPM Coachworks cluster hood. This started my love for JPM and will show later on. Better than OEM+ in my opinion.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps8508814c.jpghttp://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps743f750b.jpg

JDM Clear side markers! One of my favorite modifications. Got some 194A bulbs too!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps4a07c7d7.jpghttp://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psbd677bc7.jpghttp://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psb9f07b85.jpg

The very same day, my Rally Armor mudflaps came in! These to me were the best choice at keeping all of that salt and sand mix Nebraska lays down on icy roads. Plus I may go with a wider stance later on and these will still do well with that.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps8ac0a792.jpghttp://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps1744be79.jpg

Then came along a man that some know on the forums as Sutty. He was making arm rests for this car and I absolutely loved it. I missed the arm rest and for longer driving I wanted it more and more. SO, contacted him and had some made. Much more exclusive item in the car as he only made so many and is not making any more.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps667b4e90.jpg

Also got a little decoration for the seat heater switches. Since I cannot get the cool fancy plaques people get made for the FRS and Premium BRZ's. I had to find a company that did things a little out of the norm. Plus they were able to put on there what I wanted. I actually like the satin silver trim. So I brought more of it into the car. It help breaks up the interior and makes it look more mature.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps278b99db.jpg

Next up were hood dampeners. Zeta Performance had a group buy and at a price I could no resist. Was a great addition to the car!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psf16ab6b1.jpghttp://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psdc300620.jpg

As time went on, other things that I never really thought to change in a vehicle were hitting me more and more every day. The BRZ's interior is dark, it is black! At night I found myself wanting more light when I got up to the car, entered the car, and getting out of the car. DiodeDynamics answered my call. Later on I actually did some testing of my own and helped them find out that the bulbs in the Limited Doors were the same as their trunk bulbs. I actually posted up a DIY here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...light=door+led

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps2f8f67fe.jpg

Well some time went by. I also told myself the exhaust I always wanted (Perrin) would be bought after the car is payed off. Would be a, little reward? for paying it off early. Well, MikeCZP broke me down against that promise to myself and gave me a heck of a deal. For awhile I was eyeballing the Invidia Q300 but for a little more I was able to get the exhaust I originally wanted. At the same time, I ordered a OEM replica rear diffuser (or as most call it, decorative plastic to complete the front end) because that is exactly what it is.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps1f0858c9.jpg
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psa75f4fc6.jpg

Also, the old one fit in the car, if anyone was wondering.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps8a4ca134.jpg

Winding down to the present. Got my vanity plates, fit the car pretty well!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psdf520cca.jpg

Got a little tax free on my check, so after a crazy week of work, decided to splurge and buy some wheels! Sparco Assetto Garas! I love em! 17x7.5
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psddf14ccd.jpg

Then got the windows tinted! One of my favorite pics. The way SWP is shining in the sun is perfect! I love this color!
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps4198dd8f.jpg

Grimmspeed brake master cylinder brace installed. Great little modification! Brakes are not as spongy anymore.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps541ae89e.jpg

JPM Coachworks comes through again. So when I got the car, I noticed 3 different leather/material patterns, well 4 if you want to get VERY specific but 3 noticeable. Alcantara, hard leather, and a dimpled leather steering wheel/plastic door panel finish. The dimpled leather was only in those 2 areas. I liked the pattern so I talked with JPM as I saw a pic of another customers product they made and asked to receive the same. Man was I happy! Also got the knee pads and door speaker covers in Alcantara. Knee pads are still in need of an install. Need to find a day to buckle down and take the center console out.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps74119b1c.jpg
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps67593beb.jpg

Also ordered a Cusco shift knob. Was a little different than what I was originally expecting. Was smaller, and A LOT lighter than the OEM knob. I gave it a shot, and fell in love with the feel of it right away (insert joke here).
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psfc8359e6.jpg

In the midst of spending money over the past 6 months, I decided to dress up the engine bay. Got some VHT wrinkle red paint, and ordered the AVO silicone piping. This was the result. I also installed an Apex-i dry air filter. I had the K&N but with an oiled filter that close to the MAF, I decided to go a different route.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps63a695fa.jpg
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...pscebe80af.jpg

Now we are at the present. I will update some more when I get the pics uploaded. Sorry for the long drawn out post but this is what happens when you do not start this as soon as you get the car. Car is now sitting at 5300 miles. I need to drive some more.

Skippman 07-06-2013 11:17 AM

Looking good so far bro! How are you liking the Perrin exhaust?

DGMBRZ 07-06-2013 11:53 AM

I absolutely love it. 4000 miles or so later, still no leaks, sounds great, and is beautiful to look at every day I walk up behind the car. People still complement me on it saying how clean it looks and how the slashes go with the curve of the rear end.

Khazzy 07-06-2013 12:04 PM

Thanks everyone! More pics up today of what I did last night! Here is a little teaser.

Before.

After

And since I was upgrading the front turn signals, I guess I could go ahead and put these on lol. Thank you Guerillaracing.com! I had followed these guys since they released word on getting the TOM's tail lights in. They came out and I continued to stay with them even if they were a little more expensive than other places. Not to mention they actually got them for USMD pinout being an authorized TOM's dealer in the US.

I don't have alcantara on my car, but I am interested in alcantara on that gauge pod like yours...would it clash with non alcantara interior?? thanks man.. loving your car those wheels are beautiful

Khazzy 07-18-2013 12:16 AM

Thanks, I do not know how much it would clash. I do know they make a synthetic leather like the FRS's that would match your speakers and knee pads.

My whole vision of the interior on the BRZ was there were 3 leather patterns. Hard, Alcantara (not really leather) and dimpled. So with the center of the seat being alcantara, I kept that center line going with the gauge hood. Created a line of alcantara for the driver. Then I wanted to bring in the dimpled leather from the wheel and (plastic) door panels. I did this by surrounding the driver/passenger with it. Doors (dimpled) hard leather bolsters on seat, alcantara, hard leather bolsters, dimple leather (shift boot/Ebrake boot). It is much easier to explain sitting in the car. I have my arm rest too to enforce the hard leather towards the dimpled. Appreciate the kind words on the wheels too. I am happy they turned out great. I was originally wanting to go gold then...thought black with the white looked way better. If I went with the WRB, I would have gone gold all of the way.

Khazzy 07-26-2013 04:24 PM

Little updates. Washed the car! Haha no mods recently and not for awhile probably. Just moved so building up the bank again. In the mean time. Enjoy these pics from today!

All I have to say is some days I think to myself that I should have got the WRB BRZ instead of the SWP BRZ. Days that are sunny and nice outside like today, make me want to slap myself silly for ever thinking that! I LOVE THIS COLOR!

Khazzy 07-29-2013 07:17 PM

Little update! Got me some TOM's shoulder seat belt pads. 2 reasons why.

1) I go to the gym frequently and do not want sweat all over my seat belt because after years of doing this, they look gross. These are a lot easier to clean than a seat belt.

2) Because I like how they look.

Hit 6k today. A drive to Michigan is happening next week to visit my Dad. He is excited to see my car for the first time. He said he will buy me some new tires before I leave after he drives it....Psh I am down! My step mom told me to not let him drive it haha.

Khazzy 07-31-2013 12:52 AM

Thanks everyone. I enjoy this car more and more every day. Real test is my short 500 mile trip to Michigan next week. Photos will be posted of course.

Khazzy 08-01-2013 08:15 PM

Haha I have been thinking about it.

humanshield 08-01-2013 11:14 PM

car looks great! love them Tom's tail lights and belt pads. if I use the leather seatbelt guide on the subaru it's kind of uncomfortable on my shoulders. those pads would do wonders.

lp87 08-02-2013 01:03 AM

I went with swp and absolutely love it as well. Best color, imo, for this car

Khazzy 08-02-2013 07:50 PM

Still getting used to the TOM's pads but they are doing a great job keeping sweat off of the seat belts. As for the tails, LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I get a lot of people asking me about them. They are shocked at the price thinking they are some 1000 dollar sets of tails. I even got asked one day if it was the STi Model, sadly I had to tell them no lol.

Khazzy 08-07-2013 04:47 PM

Decided to change out the knee pads.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psbc8d0644.jpg

What a mess this looked like! That cubby/usb/push start area in the center console was a pain to get out. Got it out though with no broken clips.

Crickets....stupid 10% ethanol gas I had to fill up with....

Oh and while I was at my Dad's.

Khazzy 08-11-2013 03:46 PM

OK back in town! Did a few things, but first. Confirmed! The BRZ can kill birds...sorry little guy but maybe you should not fly so low? All I heard was a thud on the way back from Michigan and stopped to fill up in Davenport, Iowa. Found this lovely art display.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...psc12b8938.jpg

Ok got home to my package that I have been waiting since March to get. My VG shark fin antenna. Yup, happy with it! Here is a bunch of angles for people wondering how they sit.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps626fd952.jpghttp://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps5c432d43.jpghttp://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps8d0f9d67.jpghttp://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps886cca65.jpghttp://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps70963c92.jpg

Now I was promised some extra goodies in the box because of the massive amounts of delays for this fin. Well I was disappointed to say the least. But hey, now my keyboard has a cool little touch of 86 to it.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...ps889df064.jpg

Khazzy 08-15-2013 10:06 PM

Little update. Burned up the rest of the 10% ethanol gas I had to fill up with on my mini road trip. Filled up today with my 91 non ethanol gas, crickets are gone. Drove around for an hour, still none.

Ordered the STi Front lip as well. Oh man it is beginning!

Khazzy 08-25-2013 07:47 PM

car is running perfectly without crickets. Proved my theory to myself.

Anywho got out to the parking garage today to take some amateur iPhone photos and couple of vids. Enjoy! Loving how my car has been coming along. Just gotta wait for the STi Goodies and I will be set until the warranty runs out. Then MOAR POWAAA.

Khazzy 08-25-2013 08:30 PM

not bad for some 150 dollar wheels lol. Thanks! Your TRD wheels are prettier haha. Wish I had the funds at the time to grab the STi Wheels in black but I am in no way disappointed with my choice.

Ahmeda 08-25-2013 10:54 PM

Oooh! I like what you did with the car! Like 90%same of what I plan on doing to mine web I get it! Btw where did you get the silicone intake tube and rally mudflaps from and for how much each? Those will be most likely my first mods since the roads down around here have alot of gravel on them sadly >.<

Rally Armor's directly from Rally Armor through Amazon (Had money to spend on Amazon) and the AVO silicone tubes I got from a vendor on here. MIKECZP I think is his user name. Same place I got my Perrin Exhaust, killer group buy price.

This was the cheapest I found for the AVO tubing online when I ordered. Still think they are the cheapest. Great customer service.

Ahmeda 08-25-2013 11:25 PM

So do you really notice a difference in sound with the sound tube? Or is it only noticeable from like revving car at stand still without all the wind noise?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

Khazzy 08-25-2013 11:37 PM

sound tube makes no difference, was changed to match the rest and perfect fitment. Intake hose with a drop in dry filter does have a different sound, little more throttle response. Not sure what you mean without the wind noise, that was an exhaust clip. But you will hear more air getting sucked in with the hood up if that is what you are asking.

Ahmeda 08-25-2013 11:43 PM

no i know intake gives it a different sound but sometimes while driving you cant hear the noise due to all the air around the car while going like 50-60mph? lol so is the sound tube actually made to create more noise or reduce noise? im new at this stuff xD

Khazzy 08-25-2013 11:50 PM

It is there to induce an intake note into the cabin. Does nothing more. You will hear it higher RPM but that is about it and then you hear the engine more than the intake note.
