hand grab serious issue

In a terrific article in Motor magazine (Australian), August 2012, page 52 it says we have an "hand grab in the door sill" to assist getting in and out.

Can anyone tell me where it is? At present my back has jinked on me and I can't get out.

Kosmos 07-05-2013 09:47 PM

huh?

F3dzo 07-05-2013 09:48 PM

Put you hand on the door jamb and climb out

White64Goat 07-05-2013 09:57 PM

Well, since you are in Australia, you will have to turn your car over to find it....:bonk:

PMPB 07-05-2013 10:33 PM

It's the small portion of the door sill that is soft rubber, instead of the hard plastic of all the rest sill.

Kayzer Soze 07-05-2013 10:50 PM

its called the roof lol

SloS14 07-05-2013 11:30 PM

I know this seems like an obvious solution but have you tried throwin' another shrimp on the barbie?

Grishbok 07-06-2013 12:33 AM

I dont know about you guys, but every time I touch that thing it electrocutes me. I dont mean static shock, i mean continuous electrical discharge into my arm. you can hear it going "crack crack crack crack" like a tiny little tazer pumping volts into my hand.

Wo6M 07-06-2013 09:01 AM

Well this just got sexual ...

No it is normal. I don't know about the continuous shock, but I have actually seen the ark from my finger tip to the car. That one hurt a lot.

GULP and GASP. At the very least, please get this seen to before you refuel.

Thanks, I suppose you are right. Better than nothing but not much.

boredom.is.me 07-06-2013 11:24 PM

The ark was off of the door latch u bolt thingy. No other part of the car (when exiting) grounds as good. I always keep one hand on the car when refueling.

wrxgoose 07-07-2013 05:10 PM

wtf?! With the door all the way open you can use the edge of the dash...it's sort of shaped like a grab bar.

FYI to all those putting their hands on the roof and door frame, you better wash your car on a regular basis and wax because hand oils will eat through that paint and/or oxidize over time.

JDM FRS 07-10-2013 03:09 PM

This is how I get out of the car

Thanks everyone for your input over this important issue.

OK, the magazine desription term "grab bar" was poor. I have cancelled my subscription. It is better described as a "wrist rest" and if you are careful your skin need never contact the paint as you push off. I recommend you put your wrist out on the rest first, followed by your leg. Failure to do so can result in limp wristedness.
