ihaskrayon's BRZ limited (Staci)

Hello everyone!

Here's my story and a journal for my BRZ. Meet Staci.

I picked up my car July 1st from Heuberger Motors in CO. Living in CA, I searched all over for a BRZ, but couldn't find one anywhere near MSRP. I am a loyal Subaru owner, but it was becoming a pain to find one the way I wanted it, so I decided I'd get an FR-S instead. I went to some local dealers and found one, but it was already sold. I put my deposit down, but the dealer never contacted me even after leaving several messages. I got my deposit back and gave a call to Clint. He hooked me up and I ended up getting the BRZ exactly how I wanted it!

Clint sent me this picture when the car arrived at the dealer

I was getting impatient waiting for the day I could fly out and pick up the car. But finally the day came and I was ready to go. I woke up at 5AM like a kid on Christmas and began getting ready. My girlfriend and I set off to the airport at 6:30AM and we ready for our 7:20AM flight out of OC. We boarded the plane and the smile on my face was ear to ear. That changed quickly when the pilot says we are going to have a delay, and eventually tells us to de-board the plane. The flight was canceled and I had to get another flight. The next flight was at LAX at 1PM. They paid for our shuttle to LAX and we get on the plane for round two. This plane had a delay, but we were up in the air at 1:30PM.

http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/2613/jh59.jpg

We finally arrived around 5:30PM in Denver. Heuberger Motors was nice enough to give us a complimentary pick-up. We arrived at the dealer around 7PM (Sorry Clint!) and took care of business.

http://img259.imageshack.us/img259/6757/4hho.jpg

By 8PM we were ready to be on the road and Vegas was calling our name. I wasn't planning on arriving so late, so I was dreading the 12 hour drive. I was really pissed with United Airlines, and our trip through the Rockies was dark and tiring. But here she is on her first fill up.

http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/7719/wuvn.jpg

I couldn't take many pictures on the trip because it was night time. :( So after a long drive we finally made it to Vegas at 8:30AM! This is how hot it was when we arrived :confused0068:

Staci was hungry

http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/6199/sgxn.jpg

After getting a few drinks and getting some rest we departed for a shorter trip home.

http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/4510/akey.jpg

She finally got home safe and sound and parked next to her neighbor.

http://img819.imageshack.us/img819/4241/x0vk.jpg

The next day I washed her up quickly since I didn't have much time. I'm hoping I can wash, clay bar and wax it some time next week. But she looks better when she's not covered in bugs

Awesome break-in journey...

You should send a pic with your new car to one of those local Subaru stealerships...with the quote "I guess somebody wanted to make a sale...":D

supra2nv 07-04-2013 06:06 PM

every time I see a White BRZ I look past the serious annoyance I have for the front bumper, and love the car....it almost looks silver in some angles, such a great color.

Thanks!

It's funny because the day I got home, I got an email from South Coast Subaru saying they're willing to lower the price to $1,500 over MSRP.

Maybe I should reply back...

Yeah I love the color. My 07 WRX was also SWP and I knew I wanted it again. Looks silver sometimes, sometimes a slight gold, dead white at night and then looks like a satin wedding dress. I love it

Clipdat 07-05-2013 02:44 PM

Cool story and photos, great color choice!

Sounds like they implemented a similar color shifting paint on the 10 series, just different pigments. My guess....

Yahoo. Great story thanks for sharing Kayvon.

You should, maybe it will help them to realize that they need to stop jerking everybody around who is looking for a BRZ...

Carrozzeria 07-05-2013 03:19 PM

Great way to break her in! Looks great :)

MightyMeeple 07-05-2013 03:23 PM

Great story...almost same thing that happened with me. Very hard to find a BRZ on the lot in NC. I put money down for an order, but given the 6-month expected wait time. Was able to find the exact car I wanted in Mass...and able to fly up, hotel and drive it home for still less than sticker.

ihaskrayon 07-07-2013 01:04 PM

Recieved my wheels yesterday! :D

Waiting for my lugs to show up and I should have them installed sometime later this week.

I also recieved my tail light film, so I need try and work on that as well.

HeubergerMotors 07-07-2013 03:04 PM

Lucky

humanshield 07-07-2013 03:37 PM

looks so good in white and all clean!

ihaskrayon 07-09-2013 01:45 PM

I attempted my tail light film only to realize I got the wrong kind. It was the peel and stick version, so it was much harder to work with. I guess you can say it didn't turn out to well and these tails are very hard to work with because of the curves and the aero bump on the side. Mission FAILED. I will buy some more, but of the right kind next time.

Because it kept sticking and not allowing me to really move it around, I ended up getting creases like crazy. Even sprayed water to help but once it touched it just stuck and I couldn't wiggle it around at all.

http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/7531/cpo8.jpg

In other news, here's a teaser of the wheels

http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/7955/vnbq.jpg

I managed to stuff a set of 18" wheels in the car. :)

http://img818.imageshack.us/img818/847/uf9i.jpg

Hopefully my lug nuts get here by the end of the day so I can put the wheels on. If not, they'll be on as soon as I get them. Stay tuned

ihaskrayon 07-12-2013 11:27 PM

I decided that having the day off, I would give it a nice wash, clay bar the entire car and wax it to give it a nice shine.

http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/1333/qr3y.jpg

The lugs came in finally! I managed to put the wheels on. So far I'll be on stock ride height until I get springs soon, hopefully it shouldn't take long.

Got some used eibach pro kit springs, but they didn't come with the replacement bump stops or dust covers. Once I score a set of those I'll be slapping those on. Hate the 4x4 look

MikeM5 07-14-2013 02:20 PM

definitely a cool pick up story! good choice on the color too

RIPTRD71 07-14-2013 02:27 PM

Looks very good! Red lugs with the gold is the shit!

ihaskrayon 07-19-2013 11:49 AM

Thanks guys. I'm sad because I'll be leaving for 2 weeks and I know I'll miss my car after driving a crappy rental :(

HeubergerMotors 08-21-2013 05:02 PM

Thanks for Bringing Staci by :)

ihaskrayon 08-23-2013 03:58 PM

My pleasure Clint!

Small update. I just ordered an Invidia N1 as well as an Invidia catless test pipe. I'm also waiting for Anarcy Motive to ship out the knob :)

Will post pictures upon arival

ihaskrayon 10-02-2013 05:12 PM

Been a while since I updated!

The weather has been nice lately and I took a drive down PCH and had a little fun.

http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/3673/4b4j.jpg

I had to get my car smogged to register it here in California.

http://img855.imageshack.us/img855/1118/s0ny.jpg

After smog was done, it was time to put on the exhaust. Invidia N1

http://img585.imageshack.us/img585/1806/te39.jpg

http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/9213/xvk6.JPG

http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/3721/75qf.jpg

Terrible pictures, I know. So far I really like the exhaust. I have my catless test pipe still sitting in the garage. I wanted to drive around without it for a while so I could really compare a before and after. Doesn't drone much, and I was honestly thinking it would be louder up top. Maybe I miss my WRX's turbo a little bit. The engine noise is so loud in the cabin that the exhaust can't be heard in high RPM range.

I gave her a quick wash and thought this was a pretty cool picture from above

http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/2061/imnw.jpg

I also got my side markers in and put them on. Looks 10x better over the stock amber eyesore

http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/3843/0ooy.jpg

I am still waiting for my shift knob, but will update once I get it.

Springs are next on my list. I was thinking about going 1.4" but now that I'll be working in the LA area, I think a 1" drop will be a better option for me.

I like those wheels man! How do you like that Invidia set up? If you want to stick with a 1" drop option, I really dig the Swift springs, or Hotchkis (which I run on my FRS). You can't really go wrong with Eibachs either.

Thanks, I love these wheels as well. Although I may do a different setup later. Still deciding if I'm going to turn into a wheel whore or not

The Invidia has been great so fat. Not too bad when cruising around. It is a little quiter than I expected when you really get on it. Although, a majority of the noise I hear is from the engine through the firewall.

I was looking into the swifts, but I've seen them at my local meet and they look more than an inch. Great looking, so I'm still deciding at the moment. I also have a friend getting the pro-kit, so I'll see what the drop is like once he gets his wheels (the same as mine). Also, Christmas is near, and my girlfriend might be really nice to me this year

Small update:

I got my shift knob a few weeks ago but haven't had a chance to post.

Arizona Teal

http://img38.imageshack.us/img38/5935/m4ev.jpg

It's really hard to capture the color in photos, especially with a crappy iPhone camera, but in person the color is amazing! Looks fantastic in my opinion.

It's nice a heavy! I love it. It does get pretty cold and pretty hot since it's painted steel. I can deal with the cold, but some days it gets pretty hot. The paint helps a lot, but it's still going to retain a lot of heat sitting in the sun for 8-10 hours while at work. I decided to be creative and make a cover for it. I've seen people get JDM socks and stuff, but I think that looks weird. Here's what I came up with

http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/5846/nxps.jpg

ihaskrayon 01-17-2014 05:11 AM

Small update. I finally installed the Invidia catless mid pipe.

The throttle response is slightly increased and I can feel a bit more torque. As far as the noise, I couldn't really tell the difference until I drove it for a few days. It's much louder now and you can really hear it in the high RPM range.

I also finally got springs (Eibach sportlines) to get rid of the horrible wheel gap. (Great Christmas gift from the fiance) I plan on putting these on some time this week.

I have ordered the TRD vents as well. These will be paint matched

HeubergerMotors 03-12-2014 08:12 PM

Not much of an update, but I decided to go teal for the Summer

NICE! Is that duplicator torque n' teal paint or did you powder coat?

I used Plastidip actually. It's one of their new offerings

If I get bored I may do purple next.

Wow, googled a close up of that color. I like it. I'd been wanting to do wheels in Project Mu teal (Duplicolor Torque n' Teal) but I'm not sure how long I could tolerate it. This would be a cool alternative. Tempting - as much as I dislike plastidip, LOL.

YangerD 05-29-2014 11:05 PM

Nice car! loving the wheel color as well. it looks pretty glossy for Plastidip.
