my car partial dipped
Dip doesnt simply wash off
its all about the application
when you dip a car you put in on in layers
watch on youtube
or go to plastidipcar.com
if your dip washes off you didnt let dry long enough.
and if you dont you spray can theres even a easy way to fix it peels off
up keep is simple
they sale product to keep dip clean but i would sugguest going over dip with Dip glossifier -gives the dipped look a clear coat look

Here's mine at Springfest... Don't mind the streaking on the front bumper, it was my first time.

SuperJimmyK 07-04-2013 06:07 PM

Here is mine. I own a small movie theatre and thought it would be an interesting way to advertise for the man of steel movie.

These look great! I was unaware that they made other colors than black white and now the three for rims.

Mr.Jay 07-05-2013 01:30 PM

They have many many colours and thy can be mixed to become customs colours as well as you can add certain things to get different effects and such

NorseLegend 07-07-2013 02:18 AM

I really want to see one in WRB, but dipped with the matte clear from DYC.com. I feel that'd look pretty cool.

Rome 07-07-2013 03:10 PM

Nice! Is that just a basic silver dip? Or did you use the matte clear over factory paint?

Scion F ARE S 07-07-2013 07:47 PM

how many gallons would you need to spray the entire car?

dabocx 07-07-2013 07:56 PM

So far im leaning towards matte white or a peal matte teal.

I'm assuming 3-4 gallons, don't take my word for it though. Still careless, but don't mind as long as I can get the BRZ when I do get a car haha

Anaxilus 07-08-2013 04:33 AM

So how's the durability/protection if you apply 3+ coats w/ glossifier compared to clear bra?

I used three gallons of light blue when i dipped mine and was able to do 4 whole car coats with enough left over to do a 5th coat over the front bumper and hood.

VIXEN 07-08-2013 03:38 PM

How about wrapped? :)

Mr.Jay 07-08-2013 04:07 PM

4 coats will civer the car but depends if you lay down a base or not. Mine has 5 layber with no base I could use another two layers

BadCompany235 07-09-2013 01:12 PM

3 gallons blue. 1 gallon black
i may try purple or royal blue next. i'm going to paint over this coat so i have a nice base. i may also do more panda and do the whole front and back bumper in black. bcrc...

i use a pressure washer and sponge, no issues. you don't have to scrub as long as you soak, no different than a normal wash. well actually, you can use dish soap since you're not worried about wax and polish. it will stain if you leave it dirty too long, touch up... also if you get hot rubber from the track on your bumper you're not taking that off without taking off dip.

dem00n 07-09-2013 02:20 PM

Hmm, as seeing both wrap and dipped in real life many times, a dipped car looks like someone with a crayon went over it. It looks good but wrap just looks...more deep and better looking.

GaN-MaN 07-13-2013 04:58 AM

Here's one of mine all the way in Perth, Western Australia.

yikes, maybe not.

griffinnn 10-25-2013 12:05 PM

Agreed man. That example looks so grim.

Mr.Jay 10-25-2013 12:48 PM

really don't like the look of matte black on these cars

I want to see a purple lol or a dark green

Deadspool 10-25-2013 01:16 PM

Maybe it was the lighting, or the potato he used to take the pics. But it looks more flat than the nice satin finish that plasti usually comes with.

Enraged21 10-26-2013 10:56 AM

Yes, that's my car. Yes, it's paint. Not dip Not from a spray can. Yes, I love it.

Argento sucks.

boredom.is.me 11-22-2013 11:17 PM

@TeamZleep

I'll be straight up. I was at simply clean. I saw your car. The paint job is far from clean. I really hope you were kidding when you said it's real paint. I'm not trying to be a jerk or asshole, but I see Civics with better dip jobs. In fact, there were a few there. I can't comment on the interior as that's a personal thing.

I love the tail lights though. In fact I've been pondering the idea for months now. I couldn't before since my tails were fogging, but after seeing your car (and having had recently replaced the lights), I went and got a can of VHT red. I might spray them over thanksgiving.

How was it not? There was a semi-satin texture from the brand of paint/blend of hardner... Which I actually like. A lot. There was no overspray, no run-off, no runs... Aside from a light wetsand/clean up (kind of hard to do with my work schedule), I'd say it was a pretty bang up job. Not bad for a job done with a compressor in a taped up garage with fans.

You're honestly the only person to say it was anything other than nice. Now the rear diffuser and muffler on the car that day... Sure. You can dog on that. But as far as the rest of it? I'll leave criticism live as such.

boredom.is.me 11-22-2013 11:40 PM

I was only referring to the paint job, nothing else. Actually saw your car the night before. The friend I was with actually saw and said it first. Then a few of the other people I was with later said it too, without us even referencing it.

We thought it was plastidip. You can see the spray pattern (lines). The edges are rough as well. Maybe you just didn't go heavy enough. The dimple texture thing is even though.

Again, I'm not trying to be a douchebag asshole. That is just my/our opinion(s). I'm also a perfectionist though. If I can't do something to my expectations, I either don't do it, or I find some way to get further experience before thinking about it again.

You did it yourself, which is something I do admire.

I agree with the lines, they buffed out, though. It's amazing that water just beads off the car... I found it rather surprising. The black civic next to my car was done the same day with the same paint. $130 to do two car wasn't bad at all. The only flaw I can find (now that the lines have been smoothed out) is one tiny area on the line of the hood with a tinnnny part of sliver peeking through.

If you saw the car in person (which you did, lol), you could see the passenger door and see why I said screw it and painted the car. The satin hides the dent my wife put in it, and it was either paint the car the color I wanted from the get-go, or have my insurance rates go up for having something fixed at fault through my own policy.

ang31ito 12-09-2013 09:47 AM

Not fully dipped but...

Hardrock4445 12-09-2013 08:11 PM

Not whole car, but dipped wheels white. I am considering having factory wheels powder coated but I didn't want to pull the trigger completely at the time.

Yea there this thing called being able to revert to stock that you lose when you paint.
