Nice post! Good to have the official say from the Aussie market. I'm leaning towards High Grade more and more... I love gadgets. =P
|
Some of these could be dealer options pretty easily. I can see the bigger wheels, aluminium bits, etc, being a common dealer upgrade along with floormats.
Pretty disappointed that these made it into the standard grade: Cruise Control 6.1" Display Audio These are extra costs that should have been cut. I don't need a big display for my audio. |
That audio better come with a av input or I will be demanding one without it lol
Cruise controll, well I got lazy thanks to the 8 and it's cruise controll, now I hate driving long distances without it :p also keeps me from speeding lol |
70NYD, do you mean USB/AUX or did you actually want to add a DVD player or something?
Problem I have with them adding things like cruise control, etc, is that they're relatively cheap to the manufacturer, but they add them on to match other cars in that price class (or give them advantage in the price class). I guess it's just getting away from that "make it as cheap as possible without skimping out on the mechanical/build quality" mentality that I was hoping for. The majority of people don't need cruise control, so having it as standard on a base model seems like a price justification thing to me. Leaning towards a base model... will have to do a few upgrades myself if I can't get them dealer fitted. |
I found it interesting in this document that they used a picture Beau Yates' AE86 when it was silver and in it's Team Peer guise, not a more recent picture of it white and red in TRD livery......

We cant expect Toyota Aus to be up to date with anything can we!!
|
They probably didn't spend a lot of time on this as its only meant for internal use.
|
My local Toyota dealer rang me and asked me to come in and look at the ft86 brochure.
I was keen to choose the blue paint and asked about the codes for interior trim. He said that he thinks just one red accented trim is available. Well it just so happens that red does not float my boat and I won't order one until trim spec and price are setn in concrete. Also Subaru aus have no info on BRZ. confused! AC |

I'd be really happy with USB audio playback. I use it in my car right now. Nothing beats it! |
It has USB input which is good enough for me on the base model. :D
One can hope for a set of RCA's on the back, but I don't think this is likely. No mention of Bluetooth... wonder if this is a possibility? |
I meant like a iPhone video support yes sorry still was writing very muddy. I have a fever at the moment since Friday, so forgive some of the comments 8-)

I'm feeling better, not 100% there yet. Head still feels cloged :( Doc told me to take off work up to and including Thursday, so hopefully il be 100% by Friday. This doctor is really good for a change haha, iv had issues finding a family doctor in the past that I can trust, but been going to this one for a better part of a decade I think. I hate being home sick but, rather be healthy and at home haha
Main reason I want to have av in is to not only run audio of the phone but gps and dashcommand as well |
Was told the high grade audio unit will be the same offered in other model toyota's nav/DVD units. Does anyone know what inputs/outputs are on the back of those.
Pretty sure top spec will have Bluetooth , possibly low spec too. Bluetooth is pretty standard nowadays. |

Or is it likely to be something totally new. I hope it isnt these 2 as offered in the Corolla. http://www.toyota.com.au/static/imag...em-620x349.jpg http://www.toyota.com.au/static/imag...em-620x349.jpg |
I agree about cruise and the big screen.
I don't need either of those things. As long as the stereo sysetm has an aux in, I am happy. And cruise isn't necessary either. But hey, |
i was told the 86 will come with this:
http://www.toyota.com.au/static/imag...on-940x529.jpg the above pic is the high spec which also have sat nav and DIVX but the low spec one will look pretty much the same but without the DIVX logo on the bottom right and the map button on the left. |
Thanks Nardi, after some digging around i seen that 1 as well.
I still scratch my head sometimes why "as you state" the low and high spec will a slightly different head unit. Too help justify the high spec price difference? |

Shotgun NOT having navi :D
|
I would go for the one without navi as well, i have a navi one in my Suzuki Swift i can't drive and look down on the screen, i prefer the window mounted ones cause you can see the road as well as your GPS at the same time., its much safer then looking down to your console in the middle then back up and go "OH CRAP! Its the next left not this one!" happened to me many times.
|
navi (and leather/suede) or not i don't care but i want keyless and HID/LED.
JDM GT spec is what i want but it looks like they won't entertain me. maybe Subaru??? |
I don't use window mounted navi's either..
I wouldn't mind HID's. That would be ok. But the push button start doesn't appeal to me either. |
I'm not fussed about the Push Button Start either but I do like the thought of the smart entry system where you don't have to reach into your pockets to unlock/lock the car every time.
HID's are a dealbreaker for me though. I'd have to get the GTS for that matter. Or if I got a Base model, I'd have to go for some sort of upgrade to HID's. I just hope the quality of the projectors is good otherwise I'll just do a retrofit. |
