GREAT!

Come on GeeTee put it on rollers... You've done some small mods right...?

Who else have done some mods on their cars...?
If so... what are they....?

Would be interresting to see who's mods will put down the most power on the dyno...!

So, who's car is gonna make the most power...? :D

TTCC will be giving each entrant a certificate with will include their highest power reading for the day...

Small update on RGM's current project:

Can I ask what the point of getting power readings on the 86, at over a mile above sea level is in aid of?

GeeTee86 07-12-2013 07:44 AM

why would you want to dyno at sea level, not understanding your confusion?

TheGooseman 07-12-2013 07:45 AM

Sure,

Dyno days are held to compare vehicles in the same class against each other to see which can make the most power.... thus a separate 86 class for this event.

So, it really doesn't matter where in the world you are.... all cars are run on exactly the same dyno on the same day.

It's also a good measure if people want to compare how much power they gained by using different kind of mods on their cars... by comparing the dyno graphs that would be given each participant on the day.

All in good fun...!

Ryan86 07-12-2013 08:02 AM

I'd like to hear your logic to your statement....:iono:

The use of dynamometrics is useful when used as a comparative tool when adding modifications and screwing about with factory optimisation. That is, you can't run the car on a given day drive off and now use it as an absolute figure. Especially given local dynamometer operators proclivity to get really creative with compensation factors.

Running a car like an 86 on the rollers at altitude is only going to break your heart if the operator is a boss. If you pick the average saffa operator/tunner (sic)/rocket fuel expert, then you could probably live safe in the knowledge that you don't have wool allergies where your eyes are concerned...

Yes, this is generally true with an important caveat: during the same session, but I seriously doubt that guys are going to be making any serious modifications in a queue at a dyno day... Though hey, I've seen plenty strange antics in and around the south africa brand oriented clubs.

The bone of contention is that most often, dynamometrics are used as a pretext by unscrupulous service agents as a money making scheme, thus my question still stands. What are you hoping to figure out that you couldn't already figure out from looking at manufacturer specs, altitude compensation, mathematical extrapolation from real performance figures?

The only accurate dynamometer is a waterbrake in a controlled environment - consumers in this market need to be aware of that fact free from persuasive arguments based on money grabbing.

TheGooseman 07-12-2013 08:05 AM

Guys,

Just some more info confirmed for the day:
* Power measured in Wheel kilowatt and they will be nurcher runs not load runs.
* Printout of the dyno runs will be provided to each person.
* Car will be strapped onto dyno, warm up at about 2 – 3000 rpm, do a run, cool down, do next run. So its two runs per entry!

Also, everyone will receive a TTCC certificate which will include your highest power reading achieved for the day....

Preno 07-30-2013 08:26 AM

To the lucky guys who went in the supercharged 86..please share your thoughts, do you think the conversion is worth it or not ?

GeeTee86 07-30-2013 09:10 AM

If it was half the price yes

AlbieGT86 07-31-2013 10:35 AM

I honestly think if you have 85k to spend do it. But for the normal wallet its a bit rough.:sigh: I would have liked to see a price tag of between 40 and 60. :happy0180:
