Mind-blowing features of the next model BRZ
http://i.imgur.com/PweWnfp.jpg
From DRIVE Magazine by Subaru. It was in my mailbox this afternoon and I thought I would share my findings. |
The new one has knee pads...... it's a ho.
|
Revised badging eh? Glad I didn't hold out for the 2014...

What kind of revised badging?
|
This is all the magazine says about the BRZ. Pretty extensive.

We need 10 threads on this?

I was reading that today too. Ha.
I was a bit confused too about the addition of knee pads and revised badging. What the hell? Also they're adding Aha radio app. I'm okay with that I guess. |
:suicide: Mind blown.....thanks a lot.................
|
$5 says the revised badging is a Premium and Limited badge so people would know the difference. $10 says the knee pads are going to raise the msrp by $500.

Starting a pre-order list for the 2015....
|
Time to trade in i need those knee pads, and i cant wait to debadge the revised badges...

You guys are joking, but I know there's a whole lot of you going to trade in your '13s for the '14s.

I would really like the knee pads...
|
The knee pads are so trivial. The only real reason I would have to trade in my car would be for a significant upgrade in power that could be had under warranty.

Joking aside, I'm hoping that we get the Aha firmware updated for free or for a very low cost for our 2013s, and I'm really curious as to whether the kneepads will be the same as the JDM ones, or something different. Either way, I'd hope that they would be nicer than our current ones, and hopefully readily available for 2013 owners, cheaper than the ~$250 it takes to get a full set of JDM ones with the speaker grilles. I was an idiot and I scuffed up the one on the right side of the center console in a couple places while disassembling the radio (I put something over the shift knob to protect it but completely forgot about the kneepad), so I'm putting my plans to replace it on the back burner in hopes of the 2014 bringing a good kneepad to the market.
I'm mildly curious about the new badging. The current badging is pretty standard Subaru - Pleaides clusters centered front and rear, with Subaru in small text to the left and the model to the right, same as every other Subaru available. I'm not sure if they intend to remove the word Subaru and possibly relocate BRZ to be in a similar spot to the FR-S, or if they've got a cool new BRZ badge, or if they want to put more crap on it (Really, Subaru? You needed a badge on my old Legacy GT to say that it was Symmetrical AWD?). Either way, the tiny trunk lid is too cluttered with Subaru [Pleaides] BRZ, especially with the spoiler and the chrome tail lights, and I think my car looks far nicer debadged. I can't see myself rebadging unless they come out with something really cool in place of the Pleaides. I could see them doing a fancy Pleaides in a different color, but having GBS, the field of the Pleaides is a very nice match, so I wouldn't go to a red and black one or whatever ricey crap Subaru decides is cool, IF that's even the badge they decide to revise. |

If that's the case I'm glad I got the 2013. Glowing badges are going to look so tacky and lame, IMO. |

OP, please check this link out: http://bit.ly/12bnBeS Its VERY helpful |
Need knee pads?
JPM knee pads. Done and done. Wrapped in whatever fabric your little heart desires! Lol As for the updates, I would hope that they would be available for the 2013 owners. Especially if it is something like software for the radio. |
Glad I didn't hold out for 2014, YOU FOOLS! lol

Damn! Now the BRZ will be a fat and heavy hog with those extra knee pads!
|
Just getting rid of the headunit and leaving an empty hole along with $1000 in your pocket would be a major improvement over the 2013's crappy excuse of a unit.

Maybe we should consolidate everything into one mega post that way we don't clutter anything up. |

New badges don't mean anything because most people debadge the lettering on their car anyway. Knee pads are a cool new addition because that means that you can probably order them via a parts department now.
I am interested to see what the new Aha radio system brings as this was one of the big things they were talking about back before the BRZ was even released. |
I got this magazine in my mail box as well. i threwed it away. lol

I'll pay it if I have to, but if the USDM '14 kneepads are any good, I bet it'd be a whole lot cheaper to order a USDM part than it is to get the imported JDM ones or custom-made ones. I don't think an operation like JPM can even come close to matching the price point that Subaru will hit, producing ~10k+ of these for the USDM. Not to knock them, the quality seems great, I just don't think that they are comparable in price to OEM parts. Of course, I could be completely wrong, and the USDM knee pads could be priced at $300, but I'm definitely holding off on buying anything until I see what the new parts are like. |
