Side Vent options

I have spent the last half hour searching online and on here. Im obviously doing something wrong. I want to see what options there are out there for aftermarket side vent replacement. It seems like a simple part to remove and snap in another. If they havent come up with something it seems like a no brainer :)

I've been disappointed with what's available so far. Hopefully something better will come along. Personally, I'd like it to become an actual vent. I can bake cookies on the hood of my car.

I wouldn't think it would be hard to make a 3 vent insert or something haha

Flat Black VW 06-30-2013 10:51 PM

in order to make it a functional vent you would need to be willing to cut metal out of the fender.

Yep, I'm willing.

I want an option where the entire thing is pretty much a vent with just the outer rim being color matched.

Sooooooo I did cut my finders and installed the Prova vents and made everything functional. They come prepainted

I don't work for them but maybe I should at this point:

There's a handfull more in the aftermarket. I think Prova, ChargeSpeed, PWJDM, etc..

How's the paint quality on the Provas?

Ben_G 07-01-2013 08:06 PM

I'm sure i can't be the only one here who wants the vents to have built in side markers.....

I wish the fender garnish wasn't even there. It detracts from an otherwise really well-streamlined profile.

So I've seen the paint on the white and the dark blue so far. The paint match quality on the dark blue was spot on. Because the white is a pearl on our cars, it's not perfect. But from 5 feet away, it's pretty damn close. Prova is a very small shop that is distributed by Fujitsubo, which in the US is distributed by Tien. But Tien USA will not distribute anything from Prova, let alone the very limited selection they'll distribute from Fujitsubo.

I was hoping to find something along these lines.

Those are s-craft fenders. You can find them on japanparts.com

sklimo 07-02-2013 01:59 AM

I don't like any of them.

Here here!

Seems this Aston Martin/M Series fender garnish styling thing is the new trend that other companies have picked up on. Well, and non-functional rear brake vents on American muscle cars.

I'm disappointed that mine came from the dealer with the chrome look plastic accent on the garnish, so I'm looking to swap them out. I like the Prova okay, but not the price tag. Would love to see someone (TRD maybe?) start to make a number of options the way Mini does with theirs.

how hard was it to do? any pics?

TylerLieberman 07-02-2013 02:02 PM

The TRD ones and the prova ones are HAWT like fiyaahhh.

I just don't wanna dish out $500 for fenders vents. That's like 6 tires for me to destroy at the track lol

I do have pix, but I'm still trying to figure this thing out on here, as to how to post pix. But, I used a Dremmel and went through about a dozen of the grind discs. It was really east to remove the original "vents", clean it up, use thin painters tape to mark where you want to cut (which took the longest amount of time), and get to cutting. The cutting took only about 15 minutes per side. I also went the extra mile and smoothed out the edges so they don't cut anyone.

The Prova vents came with the tape to hold it in place. The two nuts are the hard part of the install. Find a friend with small hands

The Prova vents came out to about $350 after import taxes and shipping

Wow, not bad at all and you said that they come painted already?

Yes, comes preprinted, with the screen already attached, sticky tape to secure it to the fender, the small metal Prova badge, and Japanese instructions for detailed install directions.
