iPhone 5 Lightning Cable Users Beware
Had a nice wake up call with the USB port on my BRZ this afternoon. My phone was running on low battery so my Girlfriend and I decided to use the lightning cable to plug into the car's USB port to charge it up. Everything was all cool until I went to pull out the cable.
It straight up stuck and would not disconnect, even with my wiggling and pulling on the cable itself. I had to get a piece of thin cardboard and wedge in below the port itself to get it to release. Just a heads up to you guys out there. Link: https://discussions.apple.com/thread...art=0&tstart=0 |
I have this problem too!
|
I don't have an iPhone 5, but this is good to know.
|
does iphone 5 work with brz interface? music, bluetooth, and etc?
|
Hmm. I haven't used the lightning cable in my USB ports as of yet. But hearing this I may use a 12V/USB lighter adapter.

I've charged in my car a handful of times and it makes me nervous to pull the cable out. Always does eject rather timely but you can feel its being stressed |

I have an aftermarket HU now so can't tell you exactly. But if you have it connected to Bluetooth, on your iPhone got to settings, Bluetooth, then select the blue arrow to open the options. It should be in there so just turn everything on. Should work then. Maybe also a setting in the HU itself. It annoyed me every time I got a text so I can't remember if there was an option to turn just the text part off or I just didn't connect my phone thru Bluetooth. Can't remember which one it was. There is an old discussion about it somewhere on here.

Not surprising since Apple's hardware and software is generally incompatible with anything that wasn't manufactured by Apple themselves. I have an Ipod touch 5 gen though so I could be in deep shit if I ever plug it into my car's USB. Nobody else makes a good mp3 player, yet anyway.

I used to have my text messages pop up, but not anymore. I might have to poke around the settings to see what's up.

I couldn't get my texts to show up either. I found something in settings on my iPhone 4 that seemed to fix this issue. Settings>Bluetooth>Whatever your car shows up as for the bluetooth connection>Show notifications to on.
Are there any non-Apple made iPhone 5 adapters that don't have this issue of getting stuck? |
Same thing happened in my jeep wrangler with my wife's IP5. Thought it was the jeep since the build quality isn't the greatest with some of those things.

Cool what about galaxy s4? Im debating which to get samsung or new iphone coming out

I have the S4 and I like it. Personally I think the only plus side to the Iphone is it's metal body but that's where the good part ends. The HTC One is basically an Android powered Iphone, metal body with no SD card slots/no expandable memory. |
Its USB... Doesnt matter if its lightning, usb, micro usb, whatever on the other end..... Theres no reason a lightning would get stuck and not the other 100 options

My lightning cable did this, so I bought another cable from AT&T. No more issues.
|
Mine doesnt get stuck, nor my cheap chinese knock off lightning cable either. Sorry to hear about ur luck
|
This has happened to me once last month; although I was able to gently wiggled the plug out. It hasnt happened to me since. If you just gently pull the plug up and out it should come out without a problem.
