2014 New Head Unit Bluetooth Question (w/ Bespoke Featuring Aha + NAV)
For those of you who already have this radio, whether because you upgraded or got the Release Series and upgraded to include OEM Nav and the new Bespoke (feat. AHA).
I have the new Pioneer head unit. The problem I am having is that when I am connected wirelessly through bluetooth using my iPhone 5 I cannot browse through my music. I can stream the audio and use track +/- but I cannot browse through my albums, artists, etc. However, when I connect the iPhone 5 through the USB port I can browse through my music. Note the picture below, my iPhone 5 is connected through bluetooth but the browse/list features are greyed out... Anyone else with the same configuration (iPhone 5, new headunit, with Nav/Bespoke upgrade) having the same issue? http://i1289.photobucket.com/albums/...psc1cdbc36.jpg Appreciate any feedback. Thanks. |
No dice bro. My guess is that it has to do with Apple. When I had a blackberry and entune I would get emails, or texts can't remember, on the screen over Bluetooth. When I swapped to iPhone they stopped showing up. I spoke with the entune gurus and they said apple restricts what manufacturers can do with idevices over Bluetooth. I got no details and just took as that.
So I bet you that browse will not be grayed out with a bb or android device. Will borrow my lady's s3 and report. Edit - just tried my lady's s3 and same issue. The manual for the radio says, "this function might not available depending on the portable player." Wish they would give a list of supported devices. |
This sucks.

I get the same with my Galaxy S3. But I still need to play around with it. I just put in my upgrade NAV and Entune in about an hour and a half ago.
It might be how I am connected. I went through my radio to connect to my phone. Maybe I will try the other way around and see if that changes anything. |
Has anyone tried this with an iPhone 5 via Bluetooth?
|
This probably doesn't help, but I have a 10 series with no additional modules and I can browse just fine with my Lumia 920 (Windows Phone 8). It even shows my podcasts separately from music which is awesome. Could it have something to do with Bluetooth stack versions or do you think adding Bespoke somehow supersedes the basic workings? Isn't bespoke supposed to be used via an app or something with iPhones?

So is this their way of fixing the iPhone 5 issue with the BeSpoke radio that I paid 1200 for??

I got BeSpoke because of the NAV feature off the iPhone. Dealer had no idea that the 5 wouldn't work. I kept asking them if there is a fix for it. Im thinking that I should probably get the new NAV system either free or at a huge discount and "trade in" my existing BeSpoke touch screen.

http://www.toyota.com/content/entune...lay_Audio2.PDF However, it appears we need to connect via the USB cable according to these instructions: For Display Audio With Entune®: Android and Blackberry Users: Phone must be paired for hands-free (see instructions above). Bluetooth® streaming audio may also be connected. The Entune® application must be the current active application on the phone. Ensure that you are Signed In (menu/options or settings) and that the phone is in a "listening" state. On the Head Unit: 1. Press the Setup button 2. Press Bluetooth® 3. Press Paired Device List 4. Select Device from list (should show colored phone/music note icon) 5. Press Connect to Internet 6. Select provider from list Note: The Entune® lockout (disconnect) screen appears on the phone. Entune® apps are accessed on the radio. iPhone™ Users Phone must be paired for hands-free (see instructions above). Bluetooth® streaming audio may also be connected. The Entune® application must be the current active application on the phone. Ensure you are Signed In (menu/options or settings) and the phone is in a "listening" state. 1. Plug the iPhone™ USB cable into the iPhone™ and vehicle USB console port. 2. Do NOT attempt to connect for Internet via the Setup/Bluetooth® menus. A connection failed message will persist. Well it works and it works great. Love this head unit!

I got the bespoke with aha + nav from Toyota. This is not the entune model correct?
|
Entune does not feature aha or bespoke.
|
there is Entune Extension box module software (factory install it on toyotas) or BeSpoke Extension box module software that factory install on scion. I mix them installing the New 2014 Head Unit Radio and the Entune Extension Box on my 2013 Scion FR-S, works perfect ! 2013 BeSpoke does not work with Iphone 5, 2014 does it !

I just bought a 2014 Monogram with the bespoke and aha, and my iphone will not let me browse my music on bluetooth. Connected with the USB is will, but my buddies 2013 frs without bespoke and aha lets him browse with bluetooth on his iphone no problem.
If i sync to his car it lets me browns threw his radio.... I dont get it. I am going to talke to the dealer today. I hope I can get this fixed, it would be a major bummer if not. I will let you know what they say/do. |
the 2013 and 2014's have different headunits with different firmware..

Yea I know. Off all my research I basically found that nothing above an iphone 4 is supported.....I want to try my iPhone 3GS to see if I can browse but have not done so yet... Also the dealer didn't know anything about it...they couldn't even downgrade the software... I have just gotten used to it, I can skip songs, just not browse. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I even confimed that the 3GS was one of the supported ones. Here: http://www.scion.com/manuals/nav_aud...tion=bluetooth I dont get it but for that single reason, I am either going to downgrade or get a complete new head unit. |
Curious if anyone was ever able to figure out / come up with the solution to browse folders via Bluetooth connected iPhone? Super frustrating since the "base" 2014 headunit can do it.
Thanks! |
where did u install the GPS antenna?
|
I figured it out. Just start playing your music before starting your car.

this may sound like a dumb question but i just bought a 2014 frs, and the bluetooth worked fine, until i got into the car without my phone, and now it will not connect, and is stuck off.. what i mean is that when i go to the bluetooth setup menu, all the options other than the "Bluetooth Off" are grayed out, and i can only click the "bluetooth off" button, but clicking it doesnt do anything, it looks to have a check box next to it, that should be checked in order to turn it on, but clicking that doesnt do anything either, does anyone know a fix for this?
