Whitewater Rafting Trip: Tues/Wed August 6th/7th
 

OK guys, every year I host a rafting trip for all of my friends. I own my own gear and we camp along the river in Maupin OR. I always head out early to secure our favorite campsite... which means that I am out there for a few days without much to do.

This year I am going to invite you guys, too! I can handle five people each day, Tuesday and Wednesday, August 6th & 7th. Depending on the response, it could be the same five people both days, or if more than five of you want to join it could be five different people the second day.

I've been rafting this stretch of river since I was 6, and guiding since I was 16 (over 20 years now!). Cost would be $40 per person each day you raft, and $5 per person each night you camp.

Oh man. That does sound like a blast. I dont know what I look like in August, but I'm interested.

Maupin, ha I havent been there sense my team bonding in high school. Count me in. Worth it

You guys better not miss this out! I personally can't swim but always go rafting when the opportunity strikes! It is such a great amount of fun! And there is going to be camping too? Get your arse from behind the screen and go buy some gear!

My Gf is goin Hawaii in august. Maybe ill come for a couple days. I'll see what's it'd looking like.

What about that whole fear of dieing thing? You know, thrown from the raft, sucked down into the water, hit your head, all that stuff?

The only people who ever die are the ones who aren't wearing the life jackets properly (or at all). I've been down the river 5-10 times a year for the past 30 years and nobody in our group has ever gotten seriously injured... scrapes and bruises at worst.

What Darren said. Of course I had fear of drowning. Simple tip. When you fall in the water, lean back and lift your toes to the surface. DO NOT TRY TO STAND in moving current. I fell off the raft twice during my last time in whitewater in NC but the vest was there, and listen to your raft crew at all times!
Think about having fun and follow simple steps and you will be more than fine.

Would love to do this but i will be in Boise for a car show that week.

I also love rafting and swimming. My wife tell me about this to see. Everything is looking so inviting and comfortable. We also do plan to go Hawaii in coming years to spend our vacations. Sure will be great fun there.

Besides, any trip to the Maupin area would result in a side trip to ORP...:thumbup:

It was great... too bad none of you could make it out, though. Maybe next year.
