San Angelo area?
 

I'm heading to Goodfellow AFB for the winter months, wondering if there are any forum members in the area. What should I look forward to as far as the car scene? Any places I need to see in the area? Any places to avoid?

Yeah I stay in Angelo part of the time ive only seen 2 other frs. Im there on business so really can't say what the scene is like. I play in Dallas

There are a couple of us up in Abilene, at Dyess AFB

I am actually in San Angelo full time. Stationed at Goodbuddy. Car Scene? It actually is ok sorta... there is a pretty regular Cruise Night on Fridays. Just really a lap or two around town then park and talk at a large parking lot. Sometimes there are upwards of about 50-75 cars. Now when I say this I mean there is a WIDE variety of cars and personalities. I have only been out a couple of times. Most of the people are pretty cool. But as any large group of people you will have some that are......less than desirable company. Look for me running around town in a Firestorm. If you have any other questions PM me.

I'll be in San Angelo for the winter months this year, figured I'd revive this thread to see if there's enough interest in maybe setting up a semi-regular meet. I'm coming from Arizona and we've got a fairly active group of people. I get into town Monday night (16th) and will be there until February. Lets get something going if there's enough interest?

Hey guys, I am in San Angelo and have been seeing a lot of FRS/BRZ lately. Well one BRZ. I wouldn't mind setting something up. I have one of the Firestorms in town, I think I have a twin right now. RedLeader, which inserts did you buy? I just got some and I was thinking of putting them on this weekend. Well not thinking, I am, I just wasnt sure how to go about it just yet. Havent found a good install thread or anything. Hope to see you guys around.

What inserts are you talking about? I'm not sure what you're referring to?

The fender inserts. I put mine on today, ended up being easier than I expected.

Mine are the stock ones, just wrapped in satin black vinyl.

Hey just wanted to let you guys know that this weekend the 19th in Abilene there is a cruise night where the whole town takes their cars out and drive around the town in a designated route. It is actually a great time and there is a great mix of cars from old to new and custom. figured I would throw out the info and see if anyone wants to go.

I live in Abilene, so I'll be there. The actual show part was pretty sweet last year...really big turnout.

I think I saw you driving on N. 1st and were you parked next to me at the Kmart parking lot? I cut out early bc I am goin to San Antonio tomorrow.

Any of you guys know of any good shops or alignments shops in the San Angelo/Abilene area or anything within an hour drive?

I really dont know of anybody either here or abilene really good for alignments. I like both the toyota dealerships. The one in abilene used to work on my dads celica regularly and I like them a lot. The one in Angelo isnt terrible.

I am starting to see a lot more FRS/BRZ in town. Maybe we should all get together one of these weekends. What do you guys think?

I'm down. I think I've seen 5 or 6 different ones around town.

yeah, Silver (new guy) lava, brz, black? who knows we might be able to set something up with the abilene guys too and make it a little bit of a bigger meet than just us in angelo. spit balling thoughts here, lol.

Idk when would be a good time/date/place. Anyone have any ideas?

Anybody going to be available the weekend after Thanksgiving? I was thinking about making a trip down to visit the 3 Sisters on that Saturday and maybe stay the night in Austin or something. But I'm open to more suggestions, obviously.

How about this Saturday evening, say 6pm, at The Grill. We can probably wrangle up enough parking, the food is good, and there's an outside patio.

I might be able to do Saturday. Depends on whether or not my family needs help moving. They live in Abilene so if I go help them they will end up staying there.

Mosh- So 30Nov-1Dec? I probably wont make it for that one. But I will be going to a toys fundraiser track day in the DFW area 7 Dec if you guys maybe want to try that. $50, a toy, and 2 cans of food at Eagles Canyon.

I am in for Saturday now, I don't want to be driving to Abilene if the weather is going to be so crappy.

The one that needs a bath? Sounds about right, it's the only asphalt FRS I've seen here in town. You here for the 1N0 course, 1N1, or 14N?

yea...def the one that needs a bath.....I have been tuning it in the back roads of good ole san angleo the last couple of weeks so that's why its so dirty..Once the weather gets better she will be good as new...

And i am there for the 14n course, just PCS'd from Keesler AFB.

Ah, so you're here for the long haul.

What tuning have you been doing? NA tune? FI? Or hardware?

Been working with a tuner from Circuit Motorsports in Florida. No forced induction just yet, ( gotta wait for that 1st LT pay) but I gotta pretty much every bolt on you can get, so just tuning the car for that. So if you ever need a ECutek cable just holler...

I brought mine down here with me. Been tempted to retune my Innovate kit while I'm here since I'm running pretty rich down here with all this nice cool air and not-shitty gas.
