Stumbled across this BRZ build and price

Okay so I was doing some research on the fact that my BRZ preorder came up as a PZEV. And Stumbled across this in with google:

https://proj4.boxer.subaru.com/vehicles/brz/index.html

Build and price a BRZ? hmmmmm....

As far as I can tell this is not linked to anywhere on the normal Subaru site.

after clicking the link,

both google chrome and IE is telling me that its not a safe site :O

86design 03-01-2012 09:17 PM

what the hell?? that can't be right now possible way...I wish it was..

Spaceywilly 03-01-2012 09:17 PM

If that is true I am going to cry tears of pure joy. But I give it about .001% chance of being the real price. It's probably just a placeholder like the Scion site that was discovered.

It just says that because it is an https link but the certificate isn't signed. It's a Subaru.com link so it should be safe.

Zaku 03-01-2012 09:19 PM

Can you imagine how this car would dominate and kill everything in it's path if it was that low LOL don't think it's possible XD

Yeah the prices seem kind of generic for final real prices but it does seem to be for real even if it's just a place holder.

In case Subaru takes it down it looks like $20K for the Premium, and $25K for the Limited. +$775 for the AT transmission.

tranzformer 03-01-2012 09:22 PM

How do I get the $17,495 one?

OrbitalEllipses 03-01-2012 09:23 PM

I find those numbers shocking and hard to believe.

Grimlock 03-01-2012 09:23 PM

I'm not clicking the link. From the picture, it's a non-US spec BRZ, and there's three trim levels listed (base, premium, limited). Seems fake?

neutron256 03-01-2012 09:23 PM

The options look like they're for one of the other Subaru models as well.

Tbxgz 03-01-2012 09:24 PM

Does not look legit...

dsgerbc 03-01-2012 09:25 PM

Start with replacing https with http. Then browser doesn't scream if you go there.
Interesting, if you try "build your own", Limited w/MT comes out to $25775 (including destination!), which would be decent ;)
Premium starts @$20k ;)
Also, there are some accessories not present in the brochure. Like 18" wheels.
upd: most accessories appear generic.

I'm pretty sure it's just a place holder. Still interesting though.

Here's my guess: web-designer copied a template. BOOM!

tranzformer 03-01-2012 09:26 PM

WRB looks so good. :)

Spaceywilly 03-01-2012 09:27 PM

for those that don't want to click

http://i.imgur.com/TvEob.png

It is just a placeholder site, not official numbers. I don't have any faith in these number, but it does give me a very small amount of hope.

It looks like it just has every option available for every Subaru. I'm pretty sure there won't be 3rd row all-weather mats available :)

Longhorn248 03-01-2012 09:27 PM

No way that's real, a five thousand dollar price difference is crazy.

Agreed.

Don't you guys want to know how to get the $17,495 version? I think we have to send our $2000 deposit to the High Prince of East Africa by Western Union.

dsgerbc 03-01-2012 09:30 PM

Well, good to know Subaru has a page ready to go ;)
Hope they go live with real numbers soon.
$17,495 is just the Impreza starting price.

Hmm its pulling some pretty advanced java script and all their resources. Could be wrong but this seems like a legit Subaru website. With that being said, those numbers HAVE to be place holders. Looks like they are just getting ready to launch the site.

blk 03-01-2012 09:34 PM

The link is perfectly safe, their webmaster just doesn't have his SSL certificate in order.

The site is a Subaru web development testbed, and yes, it's obviously a placeholder.

Ah, I mean the web-designer for Subaru. Not a hacker type web-designer.

It is definitely not on a production server. I clicked through to the "calculate payment" page on the same server and it doesn't work. This is just a development server that they accidently made visible to google.

That would be PURE shock and awe

grst1 03-01-2012 09:43 PM

If you press on Subaru logo on that page it will take you here:
http://proj4.boxer.subaru.com/index.html
BRZ "starting at 30,595" in the right upper corner:)

feedbag 03-01-2012 09:43 PM

The site is definitely legit. The reason it's not linked to anywhere on the site is because this is a staging area. I've saved most of the pages in case they lock the site. I would take mentioned prices with a grain of salt though.

Zaku 03-01-2012 09:46 PM

LOL look at the Accessories XD

I can get 18' wheels, A bike rack SWEET!

The builder is real legit that's for sure.

sieeegel 03-01-2012 09:46 PM

looks real. click on photos and video. also click on home page. except on the home page it shows the BRZ as 30,595 (which is a placeholder and same price as the tribeca).

Lets hope thats a place holder as well!

Hanzo 03-01-2012 09:48 PM

This site is Subaru as you can click around and see the whole site including home page and so on. Everything works and designed. If this is fake it would take a lot of effort to redo all those pages and some graphics you really need the original photoshop file to alter it cleanly. Price wise it might be place holder but at least you can look around and see what the site would look like once it goes life.

OrbitalEllipses 03-01-2012 09:48 PM

It is; there's a Tribeca on the same page with the same price. The Tribeca isn't even going to be offered here in the future. Subaru axed it.

sieeegel 03-01-2012 09:48 PM

and if you go to the home page by clicking subaru, and press the right arrow twice to get the picture of the BRZ (that is the same as the current Subaru page), it brings you to the same BRZ that is on the "real" public subaru site.

Same price as Tribeca, lol. Tough choice....

Yeah but if you hover over it you see that's just a copy of the Tribeca info.

Fun with pre-production sites. They really should do better at blocking access to this stuff, but it's my entertainment for tonight. :)

$17,495 is just the Impreza starting price.

If you go to the home page of Subaru it actually show $30,595 which is the starting price of the Tribeca.
