lol what, I think that $239 is the price when coming with a new frs lol
but for 239 I'll go give it a go hahahaha |
I would say that looks like a fair price. I got mine at distributor price and not even close to the 200 and change price. :mad0259:
|
i can tell you guys that as of 2 weeks ago, DEALER cost was $475. i think that $239 is like an upgrade fee, but I dont think you'll be buying a head unit anywhere new for $239
|
Maybe the double in price rumor was true after all $239 x 2 = $478 lol
If the bespoke module is around $500 dealer cost than I will be ok with a 1k gps and the whistles radio. |
The 239 from scion site is probably upgrade, which means they keep the base stock HU.
I know when I had my tc the scion site listed the premium HU for lower than you can buy it yourself retail . Since if you buy it separately, you can resell the base HU Also like how the 2013 bespoke unit was a 995 upgrade (correct me if I'm wrong) but if you wanted to buy it yourself, it was $1289 but that was Msrp price (Yes an absurd ripoff) |

Can you provide the link for that?
|
So then can MY13 owners go to the dealer and upgrade to this touchscreen unit for $239?
|
This is for 13, all 14 is standard, u can find link on the Scion website at FRS accessory part

Edit 6/21/2013 - Spoke to dealership from where I got my FR-S 5 weeks ago. They offer to sell me the unit at their price plus installattion. The quote was near $800 lol Did a chat with Scion.com folks and they referred me to any dealership to buy the unit and install but mentioned that dealership prices vary from MSRP. If anyone has success please post how. |
bump on this...curious to see if $239 is an upgrade or just a purchase. Not very interested in the BeSpoke...just the touch screen

lol... here's the price for the display unit, not exactly $298. i'm MORE than happy to have gotten the HU for $525
|
Wow that looks way better than what the FRS has now, one of the reasons I got BRZ is the touch screen HU. My only gripe with it is I wish it had that track seek button that this one has. No steering control and having the look at the LCD to skip track is slightly annoying.
|
is the new base hu price come with the nav module already installed?
Im on the stock FRS unit right now and even if it was an upgrade price, id still be willing to swap. been looking for a cheap hu with navi and bluetooth |
Yeah does anyone know if this touchscreen upgrade will come with navigation as standard?
This will save so much headache for choosing a good aftermarket unit especially since this will be plug n play if I'm not wrong. |

I went to the dealership today and they knew something about the a new HU with GPS but couldn't even find it on the website so I just continued checking out the car. I knew more about the car then they did. I was frustrated as hell lol |

It's on the scion site. http://www.scion.com/cars/FR-S/acces...wAll&view=grid |
ok, so its pretty clear that if you buy a new scion, you can upgrade the old base unit to this one as a dealer installed option. but if you've already taken delivery of your car, you're sorta SOL since the dealer wont take your "used" base model head unit back. then after spending $293 on the head unit, you can add nav for an additional $1005
|
Cool cool. Got it now.
1244 from factory ain't too bad. That's without the discounts. |
Can you guy compare the new scion fully loaded OEM unit with Nav Vs. after market pioneer model like the Z140/Z150 which is sale for around $650/$850. Which has better performance to go for ?
|
I looked at the z150 very hard before deciding on the oem. In short this is what I liked about the z150
Bigger screen GPS bells and whistles App mode for smartphones Xm radio ready Hands down more features Why I decided on oem Easy installation Kept functionality on stock USB and mic without jumping through hoops Perfect fit on dash Most importantly, the radio says Scion on radio itself and start up screen lol |

Can someone with one of these new headunits attempt to play a AAC (.m4a) off USB stick to see if it will recognize and play it?
