BRZ pricing disappointment thread
The (sub-)forum seems quiet today. I'm guessing everyone is preparing for possible price disclosures tomorrow. Looking at the pricing lottery thread I'm sure there will be people of various degrees of disappointment about the pricing. So I'll get this going early
I'll start: No way I'm paying that much!!! |
It is quiet... too quiet...
|
I dont think we're gonna see pricing for a few weeks..
|
who said price would me disclosed tomorrow?
I thought they said MAY not March? |
Wonder why Subaru would have a set date for you to order but don't provide you with pricing. I mean if I order a Limited without knowing the price then found out I could only afford a Premium what are they going to do with my order?
|
I hope someone slips up and gives us price tomorrow.
|
My dealer seems confident that she'll see the price after the order is submitted.
|
I miss the ol' leaks
|
ugh... i just hope this isn't just hype. i can't spend the next couple of months obsessing over a car and then realize its too expensive to own. if i am going to spend more than $30k, don't know if its on a BRZ... just saying. a used Cayman S is a little more...

I think I've been looking forward to the idea of a light, quick, RWD coupe for years. I wake my ass up everyday and go to work for a reason. So long as the price isn't laughably expensive, I'm not going to get my panties in a bunch if it's a bit more or less than I anticipate. Bottom line, I won't be thinking about the price when I'm tearing up some random mountain road or even taking the long way home. Just drive, baby...
|
I don't think pricing will come out until July. Everyone who gets a car in May and June will just drive them until the dealer calls to let them know how much they owe for the car. ;)
Btw - dooes each dealer know their allotment for the year when they order tomorrow? |
:happy0180: Here's hoping that we're all pleasantly surprised tomorrow morning or whenever the price is released! :happy0180:

Yeah Roy Robinson in Marysvill WA is charging 2,000$ over MSRP for the BRZ looks like they will not receive my business.

Pricing will be announced tomorrow. That is how it works, when you are able to place a sell order you will know the price.
|
If it's close to $30K I'll have to look into a used Boxster/Cayman.
|
yeah Roy Robinson in Marysville is charging 2,000 over MSRP.... They will not be getting my business. and if that is the case they will not get 31K out of me for the BRZ limited.

For real. what do you think invoice will be? Also I heard the allocation numbers for the Tampa dealer...if, a big if, the we get the colors we order and not what Subie decides to send, I have a small hope that I might be getting one the first month, like you guys. |

My guess is the soonest price announcement date would be the NY Auto Show. If not, I have no freak'n clue.

its ridiculous how people on this site speculating on the BRZ price and get emotional about it as if it were true.
if Subaru were going to charge only 22K for it they are now for sure is going to charge 30K for it because they know they can. you people need to use your brain to think for a second there. just wait and shut up until the actual MSRP is out. . |
From a business stand point there is a really good reason to not release the price.
You've got your overhead costs like R&D which are fixed regardless of how many cars you sell. We'll call this "O". Then you've got your cost to manufacture each vehicle which will be more or less constant per vehicle. We'll call this "M". We'll call the number of vehicle estimated to be sold "x". And we'll solve for the cost per vehicle "C". The formula (and this is oversimplified) is: (O/x) + M=C So, the more vehicles you can sell less overhead you have to apportion to each vehicle sold, therefore lowering the price. By allowing dealers to place their order before announcing a price they can get a much better feel for demand, and price their cars more accurately. |

Well that sounds nice, but in reality they knew months ago what they were gonna price this at. It's not a last minute decision on their part. They know +/- a few K what they were gonna sell it at back in the design phase. Most likely they are just holding off due to a specific internal release timeline and or a marketing push where they have it planned to coincide with some events.
