I'm so choked...

boonFRS 06-14-2013 09:55 PM

WOW!! Glad you're alright though.

4Running Daily 06-14-2013 09:59 PM

That'll probably buff out. Where are pics of the other guy?

DIM 06-14-2013 10:07 PM

What happened?

hanabie 06-14-2013 10:16 PM

ouch! how much do you have to fix that?

Soclose09 06-14-2013 10:30 PM

Who ran the stop sign?!

I was in the right lane and going to turn right up ahead at the lights. The left lane had a lineup of cars about 15 cars waiting to turn left. There was a parking lot to a gas station about 50 feet before the intersection on both sides of the road.

There was a small break in the line on the left and a guy cut across without stopping to check if cars (me) was coming down the other lane and hit me at about 10mph.

I then proceeded to swear at the top of my lungs (still inside the car) and hold back from smacking the guy once we exchanged our info.

Hopefully you understand what i'm talking about, it's hard to explain what happened without a diagram.

Our insurance company put him completely at fault so I don't have to pay anything besides my tears and time going through the process of having it appraised and then fixing it......

hanabie 06-14-2013 10:40 PM

ur fking kidding me! that was 10mph damage?!

maybe change the whole fender and door and fix the back slightly.

Vmax911 06-14-2013 10:41 PM

Sorry for your loss

Barbarian 06-14-2013 10:46 PM

What was he driving?

Steve 06-14-2013 11:01 PM

i know exactly what happened, a very similar situation happened to me 3 years ago, except i was travelling 60kmph, and the whole passengers entire side of my Tiburon looked like your door

now the waiting, phone calls/emails with insurance and sadness ensue. all the best, i feel ya.

where abouts in Canada btw?

shiumai 06-14-2013 11:26 PM

oh, that sucks! sorry to see that. i saw a similar thing happen a short time ago, except that i was stationary in line in the left lane, and there was a 'keep clear' section in front of me to allow people to cut across when traffic was stopped. the guy cut across quickly (same thing as your guy did), and got promptly t-boned on his passenger side by a car coming down the right lane. the right lane was a 'right turn only lane', so it wasn't stopped full of cars. i'm very wary when cutting across traffic and make sure i edge forward and peek out rather than assume that everyone is stopped.

marky 06-14-2013 11:34 PM

thats a nice little t-bone steak you got there... door/fender easy fix but the body frame is going to suck.. not sure if this impact is hard enough to mess up your alignment or chassis.. i would get that checked out too..

travelmonkey 06-15-2013 12:56 AM

Man, that sucks. My car was just hit by a tire that came off another car on the freeway. Insurance determined that it wasn't my fault, but going through the paperwork and trouble sure is a pain in the behind. good luck with your car.

Thanks for mentioning the allignment and chassis. I will make sure they check that out

BlaineWasHere 06-15-2013 12:54 PM

At least it's fixable!

Pbrown 06-15-2013 12:54 PM

check the seams on the other side as well. often the shock goes right through to the other side and bulges the seams

KritiK 06-15-2013 01:20 PM

some people think they are alone at driving.... fuck em all! and sorry for that :( hope u got it fixed soon :)

TylerLieberman 06-15-2013 05:20 PM

Sucks but at least it isn't too bad. It's fixable. At least you don't have to worry about it being totaled out

TLRracer 06-16-2013 08:31 AM

The FR-S and BRZ are both super low. We have to remember that when driving and turning etc. Very easy to be hidden behind a line of cars, a big SUV or even a regular sedan. I am pretty sure with the twins you have to adopt a motorcyclists frame of mind when driving, make sure they see you before you dodge and dart.

Bad luck about the accident, I am happy you are okay.

Sorry op. it s suck to see :(
I believe if chasis is damaged, the car is totalled under insurance standard.

While i agree that these car are low, and easily hidden. But in this case, op couldnt do anything else than that. It wasnt bad luck, it was the other bad driver.

914_WHITE_FRS 06-16-2013 12:03 PM

I had someone from my job hit my car while backing up and leaving a dent but this right here breaks my heart since your car is also whiteout as mine. Good news you dont have to pay any thing. Atleast you getting it fixed and brand new again :)

Just drive faster than everyone else and you'll have less problems :D

This ALMOST happened to me the other day. Luckily I saw him the whole time and swerved onto the shoulder and sped around him. Sorry you got hit.

gatorbushmen 06-16-2013 01:52 PM

I would t-bone you too if i saw those orange side markers :P
Haha just kidding, glad to hear youre okay!

ghoti 06-16-2013 02:09 PM

Looks more like a side swipe.

You said Insurance put him at fault and is covering everything. So why sweat it.

White64Goat 06-16-2013 06:55 PM

Wait until winter and a couple feet of snow and you'll never see it....:bonk: glad you are ok.

It's because i was traveling at speed.... he hit me while i was moving. I'm sweating it because I have to go through the process going through the insurance company, bringing it to the shop, have them assess the damage, order parts(who knows how long it will take to get the parts), then bring it back to the shop when the parts come in and have it repaired. I could be without my car for the whole summer... that's why..:mad0259:

Yeah it was just a bad situation and a bad driver. I just had a fat curb to the right so there was nowhere to go. I wish there was a shoulder.

I'm a really defensive driver it was just a bad situation and a bad driver. I had a curb to the right of me and had nowhere to go. Looking back there was really nothing I could do besides taking a different road lol... Thanks for the input though.

swfrs 06-17-2013 09:25 PM

contact the insurance for diminished value

Call the adjuster from the insurance company and tell them about diminish
value of your frs.

HeubergerMotors 06-17-2013 09:28 PM

i feel bad for ya man but dont sweat it too much i slammed into a guard rail completely messing up the passenger side of my car, didnt break any windows but popped both passenger curtain and seat airbags and badly damaged the suspension of both passenger front and rear wheels due to a curb that was hidden under dirt. ive only been out without my car for 3 and a half weeks and that was to include ordering parts, and them having to disassemble the car a 2nd time due to paint not matching, im getting my car back this wed or thursday so dont worry you shouldn't go very long without your car especially with the minimal damage. the process is not as much of a pain as you would think but also depends on the insurance and shop they have you do the repairs at. So keep your head up you will be fine and back on the road in no time

Chad 07-02-2013 04:12 PM

Just an update for whoever is interested. Body shop has stripped the car and the total damage is $9,168. They are replacing the rear quarter panel completely. It is welded in a few spots and it is structural..... Apparently they worked on 4 FR-S' that fell off of a truck and had similar damage. Hopefully it's like new after the repair...............................

Right now i'm stuck driving a rental Hyundai Sonata (happens to be the same model of car that hit me...) and miss my baby so much....

charged86 07-02-2013 05:50 PM

its fixable ! don't be sad!! I know its hard not to. Good thing you are ok I bet it was scary!
