BRZ pinstriping?

2 Attachment(s)
Sooo i went to the dealer today to check out my freshly delivered BRZ and theres some dumbass pinstriping down the sides. To make things worse, theres some stupid rubber fender trim on each wheel arch and on the side of the doors that makes the car look hideous. Can this all be removed? Should i have the dealer do it or take it to a detailer (really dont wanna pay for it but dont want scratches). Help!!

I would be willing to bet the fenders are part of all the rest of the shipping stuff that has not been pulled off yet. I don't think I have seen it before.

I barely noticed the extra trim..... seems like a good thing to me actually on a black car.

I would have the dealer remove it at no charge. That pinstriping looks really ghetto.

Pinstripe should still be easy to remove if it's fresh. Those fender trims would make me nervous if they are those cheap things you get at pep boys. The adhesive on those is pretty severe.

odd it would arrive that way since I don't think those are options.

Bri99s91 06-15-2013 01:14 AM

All of that looks like shipping protection due to where its at. Just ask the dealer if all of it will be removed. I didn't get to see my car before It was pdi'd.

Dealer confirmed that the fender trim was added by another dealership. I told him I want it removed when I go to pick it up tomorow. I can only pray that they wont scratch my paint.:paddle:

and the pinstriping?

Onealpha 06-15-2013 09:10 PM

Good luck getting the pinstriping removed. I would find another car. Once that dries it is impossible to remove without stripping the clear underneath it.

Ok heres an update. Purchased the car today!! Had the dealer remove the fender trim. Came off easy and left no scratching. The pin striping im going to have my detailer remove but it seems like it will come off easy. Had the car sitting in the sun all day and i was able to lift a corner with my fingers so i think it should come off without any trouble (hopefully).

I hope they didn't try to charge you extra for that stupid $#!t.

gily25 06-17-2013 12:21 PM

It's probably on the clear coat since it was added after the fact, see if they'll take it somewhere and have it removed. Then have them give you a "we owe" for a future professional detail or set-up an appointment somewhere pre-paid/gift certificate.

There's a dealer near me that pinstripes like every car in the same (as shown above) ghetto, doesn't follow the lines of the car way. It's funny when the wife and I see cars around town with the hideous pinstripe we always say "ah I know where they bought their car" lol.

There is a Honda dealership in Northern VA that used to add pinstriping to everything (Odyssey, Accord, Civic, Pilot, etc). Then they charged you "an appearance upgrade" charge... I told them that I wanted a specific model vehicle and a certain color, but I did not want the pinstriping, and they told me every car came with it and it was their dealer policy. So I bought a Honda somewhere else. Horrible policy. That lost thousands of dollars of profit over some $50 (if that) lame pinstriping.

That pinstripe will come off with probably no residue after leaving it in the sun for an hour.

Scenic Driver 06-17-2013 12:40 PM

I had the dealer remove the pinstriping from mine, there was some residue left when they were done. I used a hand steamcleaner and clay to remove it without scratching.

I was afraid my dealer would try to do pinstriping or install the front plate bracket so I specifically said do not touch the car when it arrives, no detailing, nothing...and it was left untouched, even had plastic still on hood\seats\wheels etc. I was happy.
