Has any one found A super small USB drive to leave in?

I'm looking for a super tiny USB drive that I can plug into the stock port on my BRZ and still have the USB/aux input cover closed.

Help?

Here is one they are a bit too pricey for me. Hope this helps.

That will still stick out too much, thanks though.

Same here. Just enough sticking out to be able to remove it.

The cover won't snap closed but you can't see it (the usb stick)

qoncept 06-11-2013 02:06 PM

There's no way you're going to get a flash drive in there and snap that cover closed. It hangs over it. I might just go ahead and tear it off like I always do with dust covers.

you paid too much lol

s0sl0w 06-11-2013 11:44 PM

I imagine with patience and sanding I can modify a small USB storage drive to the point it fits under the cover.

Yeah, I paid just over half that for my 32Gb, and that was nearly a year ago. They seem to be going up in price. :iono:

im using: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Cruzer-Flash-Drive-SDCZ33-032G-B35/dp/B00812F7O8/"]Amazon.com: SanDisk Cruzer Fit CZ33 32GB USB Flash Drive (SDCZ33-032G-B35): Computers & Accessories[/ame]

But I am having an issue where it just dies when I try to skip too many songs at once :s... I have to pull the usb out... then turn off the car and power the car back on before it will work correctly again...

Anyone else having this issue?

The only issue I had, copied a few more songs to it, car stopped reading it. Ended up dumping everything to one of my computers, formatting the drive, and putting everything back on. Takes a while to transfer 30GB of music!

Never had issues playing though. Other than about 40 seconds after startup, it stutters for a second.

Is there anyway to get the USB to read other formats such as m4a?

FR-S FI 06-20-2013 05:08 PM

I thought I heard about a problem with teh 32mb sandisk cruzers doing that, I got the 16 and haven't had to remove it since put in save for once to add more music, and it's never missed a Beat... heh...

getbent 06-20-2013 11:08 PM

I have the base radio and it has no issues playing m4a format. I have the files encoded as variable bitrate aac.

I've got these doohickeys:

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-microSDHC-Memory-Reader-FCR-MRG2/dp/B0028R3NCU/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1372373699&sr =1-2&keywords=microsd+usb"]Amazon.com : Kingston G2 USB 2.0 microSDHC Flash Memory Card Reader FCR-MRG2 (Black) : Computer Memory Card Readers : Electronics[/ame]

and

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/elago-Mobile-microSDHC-Memory-Reader/dp/B002HGFKR8/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1372373699&sr =1-1&keywords=microsd+usb"]Amazon.com : elago Mobile Nano II USB 2.0 microSDHC Flash Memory Card Reader (Black) : Multi Format Card Readers : Electronics[/ame]

The Kingston works with all my MicroSD cards but the Elago and the Subaru Head Unit are picky about which MicroSD cards work.
