86EXPO AutoX event at the Silverton Casino, Las Vegas (June 14, 2013)
 

hey guys,
I didn't see that anyone posted a specific thread about this upcoming 86EXPO autoX event. I thought it would be cool if we post up on this thread any relevant info, for instance if anyone local has driven this venue before and can give us some insights on the surface, tactics for success, etc. I believe many of us coming to this special autox event will have fairly limited autox experience, so any tips will be appreciated? Also this can be a thread for others participating in this event, to introduce themselves before the event and let us all know who we're going to be up against. :thumbup:

I myself will be running as #128 in a BRZ in RTR. I used to autocross in another car (MR2) about 10 years ago for about a season and then moved to HPDEs/open track days. My BRZ is pretty much stock, with mostly cosmetic type mods that won't help any. OK well I have one exhaust modification that probably won't improve my times any. This will be my first time autoxing the BRZ and I'm still on the OEM Primacy tires, so I do not expect to be FTOD or anywhere near that. I'm not super competitive, I just plan to go out and have fun in the car, and thrash it around. For the low price of this autox it was too good a deal not to take advantage of. :)

Hey guys, wanted to follow up on this fun and challenging course we had at 86EXPO! Post up videos, photos, discussion about the course, your laptimes etc.

Specifically I myself am curious how everyone else that was on the OEM wheels and tires was doing. My best time was 47.980 though I am not 100% sure if I hit any cones on that run. 2nd best was 48.346. I will put some video up of my runs soon.

Yea I'd be curious to see everyone's result. I had to leave pretty early after a couple runs on the evening slot.

I was on Hankook V12's, slippery as hell lol. I think my best time was 47.6? or 46.7 haha

My best was 47.8 I believe car is stock except exhuast and intake..

oh sure, you all wait until I post my time up and then say that you're 0.1 or 0.3 faster. :sigh: :bellyroll:

Hey at least you guys autox... I couldn't :( well, technically AVO would of let me use their car... o'well.

Fastest raw time we had is Jeremy from FT-86 Speed Factory pushing 43.363

I was 2nd with a 44.1 clean(car had coilovers, rpf1 with 225 rivals, no power mods) - but I had a 43.9 with a cone. we ran the course in the reverse direction the fallowing night and I used my car which had stock tires in back and some drift take offs in the front and ran a 46.0

45.995 clean.

I'm a totally stock (minus lights and mud guards, lol). First time autox for me. Fast time was a clean 49.5.

Auto-hauss drove my car to second fastest time overall. Proud that the setup with no power mods or other suspension mods did well as the course wasn't set up for power. I ran 45.1xx Looking forward to Ichitaka's write up for the autocross.

Was a great event. Thanks to the organizers and the local SCCA region for the course. :)

Once they started letting us go damn near back to back, I'm guessing me tires started to over heat as it was really lose.. But my best time was a back to back

Just watched the video too many cones. They did that at the scion first drive events hated that.

@feldy I agree but when you have too many beginners and it runs into the night, a sea of cones is better then offset gates and other obstacle as there weren't a lot of people to help those who'd get lost on course.

I have to speak to the fact that I really liked the set-up for this reason. This was my first autox, and while watching vids online I always thought it was confusing to figure out the track. So I found it very easy to navigate the course with it totally laid out.
