So any chance for catted UEL Headers?

Since there is no chance for me to get a non-catted UEL header past emission tests in Germany  , I'm wondering if there is a catted UEL header in development.

Any infos on that one?

just swap the stock header back when its inspection time! lol

I don't think the design allows room for a catted UEL header.

Yeah and every time I get into a traffic control, I'll just slide under the car, and swap the header while the policeman/lady checks my driver's license. :happy0180:

Sorry but that's not an option. :iono:

hahahah :laughabove: just practice swapping them over and over and maybe you can do it in the 30 second timeframe

This had been brought up before and got about the same answers. I hop one comes out too

Why dont you go for an uncatted header and a catted front pipe?

ML 06-10-2013 04:30 PM

hahhah silly germans. Do the police there really check your headers when you get pulled over? (I was and still am joking)

Well unfortunately they are. If the exhaust is to loud or looks suspicous they're going to ask for documents which are necessary for almost every mod. Some mods have to be registered at the technical control board, others just need documents from the manufacturer. :bonk:

Headers have to be registered at the technical control board, since they have a huge influence on sound and exhaust emissions as well as a little effect on power. :barf:

So yeah - we're fu**ed.

Zgrinch 06-10-2013 05:21 PM

^ that's nuts. I would be pulled over for sure.

I don't know if thats possible/enough. As far as I'm concerned the OEM header is catted and a 2nd cat is in the OEM front-pipe. Am I right? :help:

Yeah - makes me kinda wanna live in the states... :sigh:

Interesting sidenote: it seems that the FT86club forum uses the same smile set I know from another german forum (nissanboard.de). At least the "respect" smile, uses the german notation ("Respekt").

Would it be possible to get a Cat less header and a double cat front pipe?

topazsparrow 06-10-2013 06:06 PM

Also do want

I don't think so. First of all the distance from engine to 1st cat would be to long, so it would take longer for the cat to reach it's operating temperature - if it's going to reach the right temps at all. This will lead to increased exhaust emissions in the first few minutes.

Second, the emission control is very sensitive. AFAIK there are two O2-Sensors - one before the first cat and a 2nd one behind the first cat. If you are going to move both positions from header to frontpipe it will possibly fu** the whole regulation up, leading to a constant MIL, increased engine wear, loss of power and higher fuel consumption.

At least this is my experience with emission control in other vehicles/engines.

Please correct me if I'm wrong

Searching for this as well, seem to remember a post on this site a while ago with a supplier saying their version would be a few months off. Yet to track down who it was.
