Engine bay bling, who is making alternator covers and caps in colors?

I could have sworn a few weeks ago I posted in a thread here where someone had made some RED aluminum Alt and AC covers and no where to be found? Maybe it got deleted not sure??
Looked in "my posts" to and couldn't find thread. :(

Anyhow looking to see if anyone knows who currently is making some metal alt and AC covers as well if anyone yet has made some diff covers other the yellow for our washer tank cap, coolant tank cap, dipstick etc...?

YES absolutely I've searched.

Thx if you can assist!!:happy0180:

Krylon for plastics has held up really well so far. I also hated the yellow.

Not sure, but they add a lot of boost. Ego boost.

That'd be my guess. I recall their name was AREV.

EDIT: found their new thread http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38390. Looks like the original thread was deleted, they created a vendor account, and re-posted again within the last hour.

Just because you dumped around $12,000 into your car within a year of owning it doesn't given you automatic license to be a smart ass to people that don't have that kind of funding or desire to spend those types of funds.

I read your build thread and its very impressive but seriously. Its not like he wants to do tribal designs on his dash or write FR-S on his fuse box cover in Sharpie. Haven't you ever seen chrome parts on Harleys or Hot Rods?? How is this different?

Sarcasm is difficult to detect in written form as is inflection. :iono: In that case, I tend to err on the side of caution.

Either way, since I don't know the OP or you I'm not the slightest bit angry, let alone have an aneurism. You rushed immediately to defensive-mode though. I assure you its unwarranted. :happy0180:

That one got locked again - looks like there's a new one in classifieds.

$149 intro price, too rich for blinging out the engine bay for me, although I'm sure some will be interested.

WingsofWar 06-05-2013 01:23 PM

i think its nice to see people pay some attention to the aesthetics of an engine bay.

Whipped this image up a few months ago. Something simple as this, is the sign of a proud owner. http://i47.tinypic.com/jubqr8.jpg

tomato86 06-05-2013 01:45 PM

I thought it was bad enough for the Evo X for engine bay aesthetics, there's nothing out there for the twins.

OICU812 06-05-2013 02:40 PM

Thanks for responses it got escalated and funny fast?

Anyhow yes I just do not care for much of the yellow, been considering the paint. Now the other covers and aluminum bits do look nice, pricey yes but look nice and of course they don't add HP not everything I will add needs to either. Thx again for input fellas.

If you go onto ebay and go into the motors section and enter your vehicle then search for items generically rather than by "FRS" or "BRZ" you can sort by "fits" which will give you some of the generic covers that work on radiator caps, oil cap, etc.

I've done that and unfourtenetly all that came up was more banana yellow options lol. I actually also tried to boil and rit dye the parts and that didnt work at all to my suprise. This plastic they used is "different". I may give the VHT with some promoter a shot.

My suggestion if I had it to do it again I would base them all in white first. Make the red pop. After that picture that @WingsofWar posted, I may have to strip them, paint white and find some candy red.

Personal preference for sure I like the flat matte look.

Im too used to the honda scene with their super tucked and cleaned out engine bays. Even the s2000s get cleaned up so well.

I wonder how much you could clean up ours.

Wash it? :iono:

I wash mine down every time I wash the car.

CrazyWookiee 06-06-2013 11:03 AM

I just have a larger paint brush and "dust" it every time I wash the car and use some Citrus Guys grime reaper.

i remember the first few wire tucked s2000s in the US and how the tires ate up wire harnesses that ran too close under the wheel wells.

Chasebay is doing a semi-tucked FRS, like what they do with their honda's
