Just bought a WRB limited

After thinking about it and lurking here on the forums and hemming and hawing, I finally pulled the trigger yesterday. What a sweet car. Decided to go with the manual transmission even though I have only every driven autos before. It's gonna take me a few weeks to get it down, and the first drive to work today in traffic was terrifying, but I'll get the hang of it.

Man, it feels good...

Congrats! Our cars could be twins. With some practice you will have the manual down in no time. This is one of the smoothest gearbox's I have owned (Miata being a little better) so you picked a good car to learn on.

Tone 06-04-2013 02:00 PM

Thanks! I am looking forward to learning.

bestwheelbase 06-04-2013 02:00 PM

Congrats and welcome!

Neo Zuko 06-04-2013 03:31 PM

I learned on a jeep wrangler... First car!! The shifter is much better on the twins.

Chee-Hu 06-04-2013 03:34 PM

Congrats and enjoy!

lionbacker54 06-04-2013 04:18 PM

well done!

monkeedoo 06-04-2013 04:44 PM

:happy0180:good choice!

PT-BRZ 06-04-2013 04:46 PM

congrats!!

Congrats! My BRZ was my first MT car, too—though I owned a motorcycle for several years, so the concepts weren't new to me. I'm coming up on 4 weeks of ownership, feeling pretty comfortable now. Practice practice practice. Find a nice empty business parking lot at night to practice getting it into first.

fritzy 06-04-2013 05:41 PM

The BRZ is light and toquey enough to let up the clutch slowly in 1st without giving it extra gas for practicing and learning the grab points.

Thanks everyone!

Will be posting some pics as soon as I get home to my real camera. Hopefully the light will still be good.

Congrats, just noticed your last car was an 02 RSX, had the same car and loved it

To this day, I feel bad about trading it in :)

Yeah, I still love the RSX, but it is getting on in years and I figured it was time. I still have it, and I know I will be sad when I eventually sell it. It was my first brand new car and also the first car I ever bought on my own.

Ganthrithor 06-05-2013 02:21 AM

What a gangster-- I think you'll be glad you got the manual in the end, even if the first few weeks have their interesting moments. It's so much fun rowing the box on a twisty road!

jimmillion 06-05-2013 07:57 AM

Looks fantastic, I picked up it's identical twin for my personal car! The more I drive it, the more I like it.

This shot does it for me :)

Awesome pictures Bro!!

Now, Congratulation. Nice Color. Let's the MODS begin

Tone 06-05-2013 03:31 PM

Gonna wait on the mods for now. Maybe eventually, but for now I am just going to enjoy the car stock.

But thanks for the posts everyone. The community here is awesome.

Its odd that there are still plenty of more ways to see the BRZ. I guess that glare of the sky and the building helps catch a different point of view, which I like.

jeffchap 06-05-2013 05:14 PM

I sure wish the FR-S was available in that color. That's what I really wanted.

Gary in NJ 06-05-2013 05:27 PM

Looks great...of course it's the perfect color.

Welcome to the club.

Congrats on the car guy! And that picture of the headlight that people are referencing is a good shot. Pretty spot on. Strange how even though I own the car and look at it everyday seeing it from angles like that just make me appreciate it even more.

It sounds a little silly to say, but the headlights are actually my favorite aesthetic part of the car. Especially the eyebrow (for lack of a better term) surrounding the edge of the low beam lamp. Hmm, that gives me an idea for another pic...

ZetaVI 06-05-2013 06:31 PM

Congrats! Hope you enjoy the forum as well.

Dorb 06-05-2013 06:57 PM

Welcome aboard brother WRB for finally pulling the trigger. I feel the same way about buying a Colt LE6920, you have inspired me. Now to move the wife out of my way and just do it.

Took about a month for me to get used to MT, I learned on an old M3 though. BRZ is super super light and precise compared to the M3, but the M3 was really easy to learn on - bigger engine and fewer gears = more forgiving? :P (at least it felt like I didn't stall that much.... managed to stall the brz like 3 times the first week =( then we changed the clutch position and it was a lot easier)

Did you move the clutch closer to the floor?

@Tone she looks great. But you're making me nervous with that concrete parking divider!
