My custom headlights for my FRS
2 Attachment(s)
I pulled the lens apart and sanded the chrome down then went back over with a flat black paint. I painted the high beam portion read just to give it some uniqueness, I have already seen a lot of FRS headlights that were all black, so I figured I'd do something different.

I really don't want to start hating on all of your threads at once, but please, please, please think before you modify your brand new car. Things that are obviously spray painted don't belong on a car that just left the lot. Leave that to the 90's rustangs.
On this mod in particular, you know you've 1. made the car look cheesy, and 2. completely ruined the output of the high beams right? That part of the headlight is chrome for a reason. |
Yea i just noticed all your posts as well. Youre killing the car, man.
|
I'm not a fan of the red either.
While I think that its great you're doing something, different... I think it might be a little "much". Also if you still have the stock halogen high-beam lamps in the car, I would be worried about cooking that paint. No bueno. At least you have not put an aluminum GT Wing on the back of your car installed backwards like one FRS owner has done. Scott |
Just read your other posts, please stop. Judging by the picture of your eclipse, you're going down a path on ruining the car even more.

As the old saying goes...If you like what your doing to the car then thats all that matters. That being said for just getting the car I would slow it on making such drastic changes so quickly. For example, the Injen intake...

You've eliminated the effectiveness of your DRLs (which are effective safety equipment, especially on dark winter days, especially on a small, dark car), and eliminated the functionality of your high beams, compromised the integrity of your headlights and made them more prone to condensation or other issues in the future, and made your $25k car look like a riced out '97 Civic. |
Methinks that the OP is not getting the reception he was hoping for when he posted these pictures.

|
It's his car and he's the one paying for it so let him do with it as he wants.
As for the headlights any type of mod is illegal even HID's as they were never D.O.T. approved for use on the FR-S. |
Ok, this car belongs to the OP and no one else. If he thinks it looks better like that, then let him keep it that way. I think that half the mods you guys do look like crap, but I don't say anything. I can probably bet that you guys have issues with how I mod my car too.
He has the money on it. His car alone wont change the scene or amount of respect your cars get. If he likes it this way, he can keep it this way. He spent his hard earned money on the car, he can paint barney on the side of it for all I care. These are not collectibles, they are not rare. They are low hp, introductory sports cars. They look great and are a ton of fun, but if someone wants to make theirs unique to them, let them. Do whatever you want op. I don't like it, but I don't think its a sin to do what you are doing either. |
2013 RICE FRS of the year!

No hate here, at least I haven't seen anyone "hating" but then again the word "hate" gets thrown around so much these days its lost much of its meaning anyway. Scott |

It is illegal primarily because it can mimic the appearance of police or emergency lights. The police will let him know how dangerous they find it to be. I can't even remember the last time I used the brights on any of my vehicles. I would bet that his 2013 vehicle with red on the brights makes more light than the brights on my Classic Mini. The brights on that car are about as bright as my DRL's. |
Is that red light legal in your state?
|
Post a DIY?
I kid... |
Should have just done demon eyes.
|
Aw, come on guys, let him play with his car the way he wants to!
I like just driving around in mine, he wants to paint his red one spot at the time, so what? Peace! :-) |

Look on the bright side, real car guys will appreciate clean cars and examples like this will kill their value but increase ours. |
Looks like the FRS is quickly become the next Honda Civic. This is one riced out ride.

The red part is paint, not light. BUT the OP's design is too "obnoxious" (unsure of the proper term to use). I kept mine subtle. See pic attached.
I also blacked out the high beam reflectors because I retrofitted a bixenon one, meaning I get both lows and highs using the same light source. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2 |
What if... you ... just ... stopped right there?
|
People like the OP just keep making the clean/stock twins look better and more valuable is about the only good thing here... I hate seeing people ruin amazing cars like this. As for everyone that says its his car let the guy do what he wants, maybe you should put down the crack pipes. If more people got flamed for doing this kind of crap more would realize their stupidity and stop while they're ahead.

The way you did this doesn't raise any safety, or legality red flags either. Scott |
