Frs fog light kit on ebay! Anyone try these?

Here's a link to the fog light kit that I came across on ebay.

http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewi...841&cmd=VIDESC

Has anyone bought these or seen the results of these fog lights, or seen if they fit correctly?

Those are the ones I want to buy.. last I seen them they were 150

86driver 05-30-2013 02:43 PM

Yah I mean they look legit but compared to the OEM $700 ones, I find the price skeptical. If anyone buys them let me know the results. I'm looking forward to buying them if I can get some members feedback on this kit.

Skeptical on the switch since the fr-s only has the trunk and gauge brightness there.

I saw a member here with the fog switch there but he had to drill to have it mounted there.

IntotheOcean 05-30-2013 03:17 PM

These look nowhere near right

CAMBAM_6 05-30-2013 03:20 PM

LMAO thats not even a frs bumper in the picture..good luck with that sir

YamahaR86 05-30-2013 03:30 PM

Honestly I would shell out the few extra bucks to save a lot of headache herehttp://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34169

Which estimates to around $181~

Sarlacc 05-30-2013 05:08 PM

My GT86 has fog lights. I haven't even turned them on yet.
Why do you want fog lights so bad? They're kind of useless in all but extreme conditions.

I used the fogs all the time in my A4 - i like having a better view of whats to the side of the road without using my brights to blind people

CodyFRS 05-30-2013 05:14 PM

Unless you put them on yourself, I have a feeling you'll end up paying more for labor etc then you are going to be paying for the entire item.

86driver 05-30-2013 06:09 PM

Yah I was planning on putting them on myself, half the fun is working on the car. I was just wondering if specifically anyone has tried this kit

Click on the photo in the ebay link. Here: http://www.donmar.com/12Volt/Lights.htm

They don't look that bad in my opinion.

That's a bad habit IMO. (And it's illegal in many parts of the world.)
Two reasons for this:
1. Your fog lights will annoy and "blind" oncoming traffic.
2. The effective range of what you can see is limited to the brightest part of the road. You can see further ahead with just your low beam than you can with your fog lights on.

The general rule of thumb is you should only use fog lights when visibility is under 100m/330ft. And even then it's a judgement call, in heavy snow it's often better to leave them off.

So by all means, buy cheap aftermarket fog lights as bling on the car, but please don't use them unless it's absolutely necessary.

I just bought this kit.. the seller already sold 7 of these. I asked two buyers how was the quality and they said good

86driver 06-14-2013 09:07 PM

Can you please let me know how they work out for you?

Ill post pics when I get it.. probably by next week. I also bought yellow tint for the fog lights

86driver 06-14-2013 09:31 PM

Awesome, can you post the link where you got the yellow tint, I was thinking of getting yellow bulbs, but the tint sounds like a great idea.

Yea I was thinking about the same but yellow tint is better that way I dont have to order yellow ones every time they go out...

86driver 06-19-2013 09:08 PM

I'm in love too lol. Can you post up pics once they're installed? I would love to see where the button is placed and how they look from the exterior:-)

Bt216 06-21-2013 11:03 AM

They look good I'm almost done with my install

2beFrank 06-21-2013 01:44 PM

I bought the kit too, got it installed about 3 days ago and it has been working fine. I replaced the original bulb they sent me with a yellow bulb. There's an on and off switch, mine is currently just hanging by the pedals. When I get the once, i'll install it next to the truck button.

Aren't you confusing fog lights with driving lights? I'm not sure I agree that 55w fog lights aimed down and out will "annoy and blind oncoming traffic". When I see fog lights coming toward me I have yet to be annoyed or blinded when they are aimed properly.

BTW, if these are anything like the Ebay Chinese knock-offs I had for my Scion XB2, they work okay but the bulbs are garbage, the lenses crack very easily, they can't be aimed and require a $50 switch from Toyota which brings the total cost to within $50 of the oem fog lights with good bulbs and lenses. I went through 2 sets in 4 years.

Gixxersixxerman 06-22-2013 02:56 AM

Looks like the kit from Subaru down to the switch that I installed in a BRZ.. Bolted right in, drilled a small hole and everything worked and looked great.. Except the switch.. If anyone wants a factory look the switch kills it, but his did tap into the stak harness for the fog lights and turned the fog light dash light on

killercl0wnfish 06-22-2013 03:04 AM

bulbs work fine and are nice and bright i orderd a 35w 3000k kit for them ... lenses seems thick and when i tap on them dont sound like its thin or weak.. i can adjust mine with a turn of a screw driver from the back... u dont need any kind of oem switch i just wired mine to the factory fog light wire that is already ran to the turn signals then found the white wire under the steering wheel and ran switch from wire to switch then switch to ground ... works perfect and even shows the fog indacater on the dash comes on with head lights only and use switch when u wanna turn it off or keep it off

i have switch jsut sitting in the little holder under the hvac system right now i orderd a factory fog switch from my buddys shop for a more oem look .. idk what it came off of ill post pics when they come in

Please tell me you mean a 35w 3000k holagen bulbs??? Not a hid kit.. It's bad enough the guys that throw HID in stock projectors without a retrofit, much less a hid in a open housing

Can you get some pictures of the wiring that you did. I'd love to do the setup that you did, but I'd like to know exactly which wires you connected to. If that's possible for you that would be great!

Hi killercl0wnfish,

Congrats, You new fog-lights look great!

Could you explain how you tapped the wires of your aftermarket fog-lights to the factory fog-lights wiring? I thought our FRS does not come with factory fog-lights!

Can you turn your new fog-lights on & off independently from the low beam and the high beam? Thanks!

Wow, the parts to the kit look great. Now, I'll be ordering mine but I want to special order stalk with both the front/rear fog switch from Nijel. Thanks.
