Good AutoBody Shop to Fix Rock Damage

Well my mind is blown

First day the FRS finally out of the garage for the season, driving to work, BAM, nice big rock courtesy of transport truck right to my Hood.

Took the paint off right down to the metal.

It has a little ding from the rock and many small scratches

When I bought the car i got the Titan Care package but I'm not sure if it will cover this considering it needs paint and they say their repair process is "paintless"

So who knows a very reputable body shop who will do a good job?

UPDATE
Just a note, the Scion Paint Code for "Whiteout" is "37J"

damn that's bad

time to buy a new car, only solution

call your insurance and file a diminished value claim, otherwise I'd find a rear end total and swap hoods while crossing fingers the paint matches perfect.

TheGuyWithTheFireStorm 05-30-2013 11:35 AM

Same thing happened to my firestorm last week.. Still don't know what to do..

If you're willing to make the drive to Barrie

Radical Rods Rides and Restorations is THE place for body work.

As well as any and every cutom build you can imagine.

Man sucks so bad

I wonder how much a Carbon Fiber Hood would cost compared to repairing this.

Just in case you don't know, this type of loss would be covered by the comprehensive coverage in your insurance policy. I mention this only because a lot of guys have a considerably smaller deductible for comprehensive than they do for collision. Some even have a no deductible under comprehensive. Also, I have never known an insurance company to let a comprehensive claim have any bearing on a persons premium.

Jehuty77 05-30-2013 01:33 PM

Really eh?

I never even considered insurance as I figured it would effect premiums

7thgear 05-30-2013 01:34 PM

why are american's from different states commenting on Canada's insurance laws?

can you verify that comprehensive claims will not affect premiums?

call the cent doctor

$125 -$175 max to fix this. Don't bother with insurance. I think it was the same dump truck that did it to mine in the winter.

wparsons 05-30-2013 02:06 PM

Dent doctor works magic for dents, but if it's scratched to bare metal they probably won't be much help.

I've got a similar thing on my hood, going to have it pulled by the dent doctor then try my dr colorchip on it afterwards.

chenshuo 05-30-2013 02:38 PM

Err you gonna go to a body shop for THAT?

Just spend $50 on a pack of Dr.ColorChip, then apply sealant on that part and call it a day. It's on the hood, it won't rust.

After you fix that little part, just don't drive it anymore. Clean the car really well and put it away for storage. Just look at it once in a while. We live in a dangerous world man...

says the guy that had to make a forum post about whether he should drive his fresh car off the lot and into a blizzard.

Jehuty77 05-30-2013 02:49 PM

My camera sucks and cant pickup all the scratches or the ding but trust me its there.

Anyways i have "Paintless Dent Removal" as part of my waranty, not sure if that will help in this case as the dent is very small.

only protection from that kind of damage is a clear bra, i've got a million chips on my bumper and hood and after the first few touch ups you won't even be bothered.

I did do a ghetto clear bra on mine but only because I'm doing a few track sessions this year and will probably peel it off by the end of the season.

The hood is aluminium so it *shouldn't* rust.

To be fair to him, messing up the car wasn't his concern - it was his lack of snow tires.

Don't do it! CF hoods weigh more than the factory aluminum ones.

I have managed to scratch the paint off both "fangs" on my 5:AD spoiler. Will need to eventually find someone to mask, sand and paint only the spoiler.

I was hopin someone here knew someone that does that type of stuff for a few hundred cash. I suspect I will be re-doing this every now and then...

Anywhere from Markham to Maple...

Every now and then? I will teach you to find a reference point from your driving point of view to never pull too close to a curb again. Only charging $200 ^_^

But seriously, if you never change your seat adjustment, pull up to a curb. Get out and check and keep pulling up until you are like a couple inch away. Now from the drive seat look out and find a refernce point. I used to use my side mirror on old car, if the bottom was parallel to just ahead of the curb I was 2 inches away

The right fang was nicked by the wooden stairs in the garage after sneaking the car out for a quick winter spin in the middle of winter garage storage. The left fang got knicked the other day on a concrete curb outcrop I totally didnt see turning at the top of a steep driveway.

I can park just fine!

Jehuty77 05-31-2013 12:57 PM

I have "Titan Vehicle Protection" which suposedly comes with "Paintless Dent Removal", cost a pretty penny when i purchased the insurance(Around $800).

Anyways I called them up today to get them to pull the dent, i can just get it painted later(i got touch up paint in the mean time)

They informed me that because there was a scratch they wont pull the dent as only dents with no paint damage they will cover.

I argued with them for a bit and they referred me to some fine print where they say "Wont repair dent if paint has damage", how the fuck do you get a dent without paint damage. Even a minor scratch means your dent is exempt from pulling.

I guess the jokes on me, in my excitement of buying the car i bought the insurance assuming i would get a few nicks here and there(specially living in hamilton) and that this coverage would be perfect.

I read over the pamphelt several times where it detailed how they would fix any dent under 2" but they wouldnt fix any paint damage, When it came to signing the contract i read over the fine print tucked away on the last page in tiny font but clearly i glazed over it in my excitment.

FUCK OFF

lol, I'm just messing with you. Don't worry I've done way worse. I was driving a delivery truck and the first week on the job I got in, it was parked in front of a cement divider (the kinds on side of highway during construction). Since It was a high seating position I literally didn't see it and drove forward straight into it. Luckily the truck bumper is made of steel so it didn't even get damaged but damn was I embarrassed!
