Bored? Do you just go on Drives?

I don't know about you guys, but if I am bored, I tend to find my self hopping in my car and going for random drives. No destination. No reason. Just feel like driving. I am constantly finding myself sitting around the house extremely bored and just thinking " Hmm, I could really just drive. Lets do it." I live in the South East region of Pennsylvania, the landscape here is amazing and the mountainous roads and back road difficulty makes driving so much better. I can just go on 2 hr drives to anywhere basically and have a great time. I love finding treacherous roads while driving from job to job sites while at work and thinking "Damn, this would be an awesome road to drive my FR-S on." No, I am not talking about straight aways, those are everywhere and anywhere. I'm talking about extreme slopes going up and down, hills with hard turns at the bottoms, straight up mountain road climbing with steep windy and bending roads down to the bottom. Plus the views that I get to see of the mountain valleys make it just that much better when you finally reach the tops.

Anyone else love to just DRIVE when bored?

Barbarian 05-26-2013 10:26 AM

I do that all the time. Middle Tennessee has some great roads as well.

GloriousJ 05-26-2013 10:27 AM

I got my frs 2 days ago and I already put 500km on odo :party0030:

Mandy 05-26-2013 10:31 AM

Constantly. My FR-S is always beckoning to be driven.

ProTekk 05-26-2013 10:34 AM

This is exactly why I hate being where I'm at in NJ. Love the car, love to drive it aimlessly, nothing but congestion and traffic no matter where you go at any given time :(

Just take her on a road trip ;) NJ isn't far from some back road type areas.

I'd love to. Took a trip to Asheville, NC this past Thanksgiving and as we got further away from NJ, the bigger my grin was especially when we hit the mountains down there.

KritiK 05-26-2013 10:37 AM

same here, I love Drive and more drive this car, so yeah when I have nothing to do I just drive to nowhere for fun

Driving on any mountain road is the funnest thing you could do in this car, considering it is made for being fun to drive, not how fast you can go in a quarter mile.

I got my FR-S last September. There have been only two days I haven't driven the car. One was a day after receiving anesthesia for a routine medical exam and the other was the day our asphalt street was resealed. Other than those two days the least I do is take a drive each morning after breakfast (I'm retired). Living in N.E. Tucson there are several nice twisting drives I can take. One is 17 miles long and the other is 34 miles long. I'll be seen one one of those each morning or I'll be off on a week-end get-a-way somewhere else. Some days if I get bored I'll take both of them at different times. I appreciate this car more now than when I bought it eight months ago.

I've been doing a lot of random driving nowhere lately. Sometimes I like to just cruise for a few hours on the freeway, other times I go to my favorite mountain roads and :burnrubber:

Very therapeutic, this car.

dem00n 05-26-2013 11:45 AM

Of course, how else would i enjoy the car? Sure, you can go auto cross and the track but sometimes there's nothing better then the random ride and some good corners.

ntron1 05-26-2013 11:57 AM

Took the back roads to West Chester last night just because.....Told the wife I needed something at the store and came home 2 hours later.

Splat 05-26-2013 12:02 PM

I have learned more about the connecting roads in last year, than the 15 previous in my area. So, yes, I head to car when bored, or just excited to go for a ride, I am itching to go right now.... Really hoping gas drops a little in price for the summer. Can not afford to keep driving this way(REVs over 3k all the time)

448hpsti 05-26-2013 12:04 PM

in the middle of the night

iamkyle 05-26-2013 12:07 PM

i do pointless drives nearly every day. i have been spending $250 on gas monthly and i live 3km from work.

husker741 05-26-2013 12:20 PM

I drive when I'm really pissed off. It calms me down. I either do that or kill everyone on GTA IV. That usually helps my aggression.

BadMoon 05-26-2013 12:26 PM

This is the first car I've owned that I ever have taken out just for a drive. Loving this car. This will probably be the first car I mod as well.

Gta4 seems like it would be safer and more therapeutic

My wife and I spent 2 hrs last night playing on freeway ramps and favorite curves.

CodyFRS 05-26-2013 12:47 PM

Speaking of, going on one of those drives with the gf now =]

bakerr6 05-26-2013 12:49 PM

Sometimes my wife tells me I need to go and take a drive. I do it quite often (21k on the OD now).

I'm not crazy when I drive pissed. That's the weird thing. The second I get behind the wheel, I'm calm. I live my life one soothing drive at a time. For those 30 minutes or less, I'm free.

ShoGun 05-26-2013 01:26 PM

All the time

Sonolin 05-26-2013 01:44 PM

You guys make me feel much better. Sometimes I feel like a dork taking this car out twice or more a day, just to drive it. I have to make up destinations sometimes just for an excuse to drive ;).

I don't commute to work, so I usually take it out during my lunch break and try to just drive it wherever. Its a little hard because I'm in california, and there's usually a lot of traffic, but I love my little town as there's not a whole lot of people and can usually find some sort of back road to have fun on :)

I've been planning way more trips this year, than any other year ever. I just can't wait to take this car to the beach, on road trips, camping, etc. Love this car the more I drive it.

I even like to drive it in traffic, strange as that sounds, lol. (m/t)

gzpermadi 05-26-2013 01:56 PM

I always go after midnight at least 2 times a week for just one hour drive.
Since highway roads are empty I can rev the car freely without disturbing other people and let the engine cleans itself.
My commute to work is very short in day time.

Even when nobody is watching I am still very happy to drive this car.
The first new car I bought with my own money :)

Sarlacc 05-26-2013 02:04 PM

I love driving my car!

My two favourite roads:

The narrower the better :-)

I drove 4 miles home from church today, and it's only 1/4 mile away.

DuMa 05-26-2013 02:38 PM

i want to but 4 dollars a gallon is a bitch

FRSfan111 05-26-2013 03:18 PM

I go for random drives all the time. Have for years. Also I deliver tofu around the mountain at night ;)

Enraged21 05-26-2013 03:38 PM

All the time.

mush 05-26-2013 04:47 PM

i LOVE driving as long as theres no traffic

texbrit 05-26-2013 05:19 PM

Been doing that a lot on the weekends and just driving anywhere, and finding excuses to go somewhere during the week just to go out for a drive. Never done that with any other car I have owned. Love the car!

Purdue FR-S 05-26-2013 05:27 PM

If I had a dollar for every time I went on one of these random drives well ... I'd have enough for a tank of gas.... lol.

I agree with a lot of whats been said here. Lots of coming up with excuses to drive it. Almost feel like I get urges to drive it if I haven't within a 24 hour period. Addiction?

Try 6-7 dollars... 4 bucks would be an absolute treat.

roddy 05-26-2013 06:25 PM

Pointless drives in this car keep me sane...

midnightfrolic 05-26-2013 07:15 PM

i take it down to the beach along the west coast all the time.

enouf 05-26-2013 07:28 PM

Used to take the car out every day after work for a 1hr spin at a nearby mountain. Good way to unwind.

Now it gets pitch black by the time I get back from work so haven't been able to drive for the past 2 months. Withdrawal is a bitch...

SmokeyDB 05-26-2013 07:56 PM

I find the dumbest reasons to drive. Yesterday I needed milk and there is a CVS literally 1/8th mile from my house. Ended up at a Wal-Mart that was about 20min away lol. I live in Phoenix so there aren't many fun roads to drive that are close by. I ended up in the Sonoran Desert last weekend though. A good 180+ mile trip and found some pretty awesome roads out there.

marky 05-26-2013 08:04 PM

about to do that right now :burnrubber: i have no idea where im going to drive :bonk: just go site seeing around san diego.. nice day.. always do this.. just grab some H20/gatoraid and im out
