Hater stories

So this is just a general thread to share stories of haters being haters of the frs/brz/gt86 no matter the cause. Sorry if there is already one , my searching did not uncover any.

backstory: I have a raven frs with a berk dual tip muff delete, j2 front pipe, k&n drop-in with perrin intake tube and resonator deletes, and some whiteline bushings. + a 5hp sticker ;)

I'll start, so I was driving around a some what popular mall and i needed to get out of an exit to the mall. traffic wasn't heavy but persistent so I saw an opening and opened the throttle up to about 6k :burnrubber: then shifted from 2nd to 4th and cruised. After traffic caught up some dude around my age probably younger (I'm 27) yelled out of his unmodified nissan pickup (this model http://i.imgur.com/3EsdCcZ.jpg) but decorated in corny stickers such as frat college and sports related subject matter, that my car was LAMEEEEEEEE.:iono: I hate to be butthurt but, what gives, is the gt86 just that cool that it brings out the haters or is opening a semi loud exhaust just that offensive. Maybe I shouldn't care. idk just drop your hate stories here for the lulz.

Liquidsnake 05-24-2013 11:53 PM

The damn that's a sweet car outnumbers the haters. Believe me he went home and googled FRS. He'll probably own one soon.

Thats my guess or he was announcing to me how lame his ride was to which I agree. No offense but dude was driving a what 2 something litre 4 cycl pickup, idk maybe he has a 1000hp bug at home. The whole thing just had me shaking my head in confusion.

LLLAAAMMMMMEEEEEEE

"Not trying to hate, but why didn't you get the Subaru."

I've gotten that a few times now -_-

luluma 05-25-2013 12:42 AM

I got a big dent on top of the driver side roof beam, it is cost by some one walking by and "hammer" hit the car with bottom of their fist.

anyone know a good body shop for this?

GNS 05-25-2013 12:54 AM

Cool thread. 10/10 would read again.

Sonolin 05-25-2013 03:27 AM

I get a lot of hate from car guys, for some reason... everybody else seems to like it.

I've gotten

"I would've gotten a Subaru WRX. But I guess a Scion is cool."

"Toyota is lame. My friend was looking at the Subaru BRZ, now that car is COOL."

....I just try to laugh it off, lol.

Lol I pulled into a ****'s a couple weeks ago and as I was getting out 2 guys walking to the car I parked next to, one said to the other "DAAAAAAAAAYMMMM HIS CAR JUST SHIT ON YOUR CAR BRO!"

Was awesome.

mrlewistan 05-25-2013 05:33 AM

by best friends mom hates my exhaust >_< so i have to kinda just coast into his cu de sac or else she will start lecturing me lol

tmcmullins 05-25-2013 06:01 AM

If I had a penny for every time someone told me that 50-100 more hp is what this car needs.

Accurate Race Shop 05-25-2013 06:07 AM

I normally don't get haters as much as the passive aggressive "my civic runs 28lbs of boost" I understand everyone has some pride for their car but just hunting me down in a parking lot to tell me that you car is faster is a little unnecessary.

I like these car look, the only thing i hate is how slow they are on the street. But my story goes

There was a day i cruised around my vr4. I saw this blue BRZ on the street, while i admiring the owner for owning one of a cool looking car, and didnt even rev up or funny thing.

I was right behind him, and i guess his ego was hurt some how at the red light. The light didnt even turn green. The BRZ guy saw the light of other cars getting yellow, he assumed our light to turn green, so he reved up, and when other light (left, right) got red, he launched.....

Me on the other hand knew that there were left turn green light at that intersection....i busted out laughing, because this was the time i realized how cocky the guy was, and being inside an 170 rwhp 145 torque at the wheel, the WRX owner just needed an ego boost against my Vr4 of 450 awhp and 385 awt.

My wife turned to me and said "cool car, but that kid didnt need to run that red light." I responded "we can report his plate to the police, but why bother, let him have his moment"

All of honesty. I know there are people out there who dislike FRS/BRZ, people out there who would rev, and drive recklessly, or even cocky. But why care ? I am sure those are kids 90% regardless of the driver being in an FRS, Mustang, C6, Viper or whatever you name it, but here i will wage my opinion. Whoever do not realize the differences between platforms = not a sport car enthusiast or just plain out, a retard.

You own your car with pride, and love, and there is no need to drive recklessly on the street to prove that. You owning your car is the proof of it to me. If you want to prove how FAST, how GOOD your car can be, please bring it to the TRACK.

When someone just want to prove how good their car is by recklessly driving in the street, they win me over for having balls. But i dont need to prove that i have balls by endangering my life, and other drivers life. I know my life is of value to my family, and so other drivers in the street. Those reckless driver are titled as "retard" in my category by throwing their life like that

Again, to me the real winner is the one who can afford their cars, regardless of what kind, and the knowledge about their own car and others. True car enthusiast never hate, or drive cocky by seeing other sport cars on the street. True car enthusiast admires. True kid, true teenage = hate, cocky, reckless, balls.

That's the worst thing about this car: the stigma with Riceboys

I was at my buddy's cul de sac where there is a house being constructed. its a pretty nice area so the houses are fairly large and when I reach the large part to do a 180, i get up to 5k rpm. my exhaust is perrin so it sounds loud so it probably sounded like i was going all out. it was 7 at night and when I pull up to my friends house, a construction worker walks over to me and says:
"you pull that shit again, i'll put a rock through your window"
I looked over at the house being built and said:
"cool, i'll know where to send the bill"
more back and forth happened and i finally said
"look, you mind your business and i'll mind mine" and i walked into the house.

radroach 05-25-2013 08:07 PM

Real driver enthusiasts know what makes the gt-86 a good car and can appreciate the car for its worth. I dropped in by the speedway in Las Vegas and the guys were very interested in the BRZ when I pulled in for some gas. They followed me out onto the highway and into town, friendly bunch of guys :)

I've gotten fair share of hate; people are going to judge get used to it.

Some dudes were parking a CLK-class and taking their time doing it, were sitting in the middle of the street with their reverse lights on, so I went around them and the dude looked at my car and yelled BULLSHIT! Hah I bet the "Merceds" was a rental and someone was jealous.

Last night on the Las Vegas strip some asian dudes pulled up in a BMW, one opened the door and proceeded to throw up, first into his hands and then onto the ground right next to me in my BRZ. I don't know if it was intentional, but I was offended. License plate was Beverly Hills BMW. rolleyes

Dirty cheeseburger-gut meatheads and old people who'd never be able to get themselves in a car like that of course hate. Mercedes S-Class drivers tend to run away at sight of my car on the road, I give them a little play but I don't chase. And there's always the frozen looks from WRX drivers who can only drive 30mph on the road (or they burn a tank of gas in one run), I only sometimes get a wave back from WRX drivers, other times it's probably them feeling self righteous about having a a WRX.

My biggest peeve is when I'm sitting in traffic and I eye someone in the rear view mirror or off to the side staring at my car, cupping their hands in a "why" motion while mouthing something like "whyyyuhhh". I even got that from an outback driver yesterday in denver colorado. D-d-d-deal with itt! (note, the first time I saw an audi R8 I had this same reaction, I feel bad now)

I remember judging an fr-s driver really hard when I saw a high school kid driving a hot lava FR-S leaving school. First thought was, ok he likes to drift. Second was he has an AT. I thought it was bullshit that a kid would have so much car, and also I was more of a fan of the WRX and Forester, and them being MT, at the time. It took me a while to come around to liking the FR-S

Clembo 05-25-2013 08:27 PM

Being a Mustang owner also, I got a little hate from my fellow Mustangers when they first saw my FR-S. Since the season started, many of them have seen the 'twins' at the track. Now they don't hate anywhere near as much!

I think people just need to understand...

Florida has self defense laws that state if someone legitimately threatens you then you have a right to use lethal force. I'm not saying someone should shoot the construction worker but if he threatened my car he'd probably get the shit beaten out of him. The car revving did not injure him in anyway, fucking redneck would have given a muscle car a free pass.

I get them hater stories for getting AT over MT. Sorry, I'm only 20, learned how to drive in an AT, all work vehicles are AT. Literally never drove a MT car in my life, so I am not going to buy a car without knowing howto drive it, and don't want to mess it up. Granted, I do regret not getting a MT, I always drive in the MAT mode...

To be honest MT is oldschool and classic, the MAT is the newer technology. All F1 cars are MAT for a reason, because u shift faster with it, and because u dont risk burning the clutch, and that together with rev match are even better.

Next time whoever told u that you should get an MT, tell them to learn new Technology, because human being progress ahead not backward

Learning to drive a MT car is not hard. Plenty of people (including myself) have purchased MT cars without knowing how to drive them. It's something you can learn the basics of in a parking lot in a few hours and get better at over time.

You're not going to cause too much damage to the clutch (or engine) of a new car these days by stalling a few times or slipping the clutch. Just sayin'.

F1 uses dual clutch gearbox, the FRS has a regular automatic. Huge difference. The shifts in the automatic are not as fast as the shifts in the manual and if you know how to drive you won't burn your clutch.

F1 is single clutch sequential, as is all other race cars these days (dual clutch is unnecessarily complicated and has weight penalty).

but you're right about the FRS' slushbox; just a torque converter that can be manually shifted.

Had they offered a twin clutch "auto", i would have gotten that over the manual.

Unfortunately the twins seems to be a magnet for haters who have watch too many fast and furious movies. The general attitude around here seems to be "Yes I know my car is slow, don't care, not interested in racing your civic/mustang" which i find very refreshing. I will admit that I'm not a fan of the lack of torque and lower quality interior materials for a $25,000 car; but I don't feel the need to talk shit to the people who bought them. I get and respect that the twins are not about how fast it goes, but rather how it goes fast. And just like you guys know that most sports cars should beat you in a strait line; I'm fully aware that on a track your cars should be faster and much more enjoyable than my GTI. So when the ricers fly by you on the highway just remember that Attachment 38766

StormTrooper 05-27-2013 02:38 PM

it does need 20hp or so but then again i'm at 4500 ft so i'm 10-15 down to start.

driving around the local mall (pretty small and no one goes in) to get panda express and some kids in a 90's lexus LS400 rev their engine to redline at me. not sure why, maybe jealous their moving couch doesn't go very fast, idk.

Generally i get positive comments about the way it looks or questions of how fast it is. Blew some kids mind at the gas station when i told them it's more fun than my wrx was lol.

How do you distinguish a "hater" from someone with a "difference of opinion"? I just don't get all this hater bs; oh no, now I'm a hater:iono:
