Greddy / Trust Turbo Kit (Video and Pictures)

Hello everyone,

We have been following the Greddy/Trust Turbo Development from quite some time (as posted in our development threads). We wanted to share the latest news and updates with the tech section of the forums. Attached below we have included various iformation for over the past year from Auto Salon, Option, Greddy/Trust, Top Secret, and Auto Craft.

Please feel free to contribute any additional information as you see fit! The first 5 turbo kits will be arriving this month in the US.

That torque... !

usptwins 05-23-2013 03:16 PM

I love this kit... omg, now its going to be a choice between the HKS or the Trust... sooo very sweet.

usptwins 05-23-2013 06:49 PM

I wonder how much this turbo is good for...

Only time will tell.. as Greddy's dyno sheet is using stock fuel system.

We will have to wait and see who runs E85 and upgraded injectors.

The Auto Craft 86 with an upgraded Greddy Turbo is making over 400whp.

usptwins 05-23-2013 08:18 PM

Well, that sounds good...

Im just waiting on there to be a flanged kit for a t88 or something...

Isn't this the same kit as what Greddy USA is selling? The one that's on Ken Gushi's car?

This is the same kit...but with all of the details and development updates over the past 9 months-year. Also.. Auto Craft Japan's Time Attack car also has an upgraded Greddy turbocharger with this same kit.

twincamRob 05-23-2013 10:12 PM

What about the tuning, anything included for that with the kit?

evo4g63 05-24-2013 12:28 AM

Ken's car moves out pretty good with this kit. I kinda want this more than the vortech now

Ryuu0u 05-24-2013 09:29 AM

Damn it. I haven't even picked up my car yet and I already want to void the warranty! So would you say upgrade the injectors and fuel pump just for good measure? I know the oil cooler and catch can are a must. I wonder if there will be future revisions or kit levels.

cnk 05-24-2013 09:57 AM

I don't see a BOV or recirculating valve in the pics or descriptions and the video seems to support that as I believe that's compressor surge at the end of the dyno run. Any options to add a BOV to this kit?

TRD_07 05-24-2013 01:58 PM

Looks good for 7 psi

jamesm 05-24-2013 03:51 PM

are the dynos with the t518 or t620? there are two different versions with different turbos?

Not necessary at these levels.

Larger "Custom" Intercooler?

Any word if the larger core will be available as a kit, or add on? I am sure I could have something fab'd up, but I wanted to see if we could keep things off the shelf.

Also does this core/piping work with the front (or jdm) crash beam? I quoted the core picture below.

^No crash beam in that picture. The intercooler and the elbows on top of it are right in the place that the crash beam normally sits iirc.

Hard to believe that Greddy would design a setup that compromises the factory beam--Hmmm...

Why? This wouldn't be the first one.

Compromised engineering for street car applications, maybe?

FasterpromsFRS 05-25-2013 09:23 AM

My shop had to hack my gsr crash beam to fit the larger greddy fmic back in the day.

I meant why is it hard to believe, considering that they've done this several times before. It's pretty common in this world to have to hack up or remove a crash beam to install a FMIC.

For a track car yes, for a street car, it is extremely dumb to do this. Cars are a weapon that can kill us in an instant, not to mention that without bumper beam any frontal crash at 20+ mph will very likely total your car. If you like your car and yourself, don't do this to your street car.

Clearly, but that's a complete aside from what I'm talking about. Someone was having a hard time believing Greddy would design a system that doesn't work with a 100% stock crash beam. As if Greddy was some unicorn tuner company that designs race systems for the race track only (it's a tuner kit after all) that don't compromise street cars in any way.

Knshro13 05-25-2013 03:06 PM

Hey guys, just wanted to chime in in regards to the intercooler and crash beam.

The kit will allow you to use the crash beam, but you gotta cut some parts of it.

I will post pics later but if you look closely at the pics in page 1, there are two types of intercoolers. The final production model will be the one with the couplers pointing up (smaller in size).

Floggin Tires 05-25-2013 04:37 PM

Just FYI, peeps looking at the graph.

The vertical axis.
Horsepower on the left, torque on the right.
They are not linear.
Hp and torque start at different values, and have different scales.

Nothing wrong with this just take note.

The Greddy/Trust Turbo Kit is a tuner kit.. it includes no fuel management or engine management.

Yes, there are 2 separate dyno graphs with 2 separate turbos. Same kit. The standard Greddy Kit includes the T518 turbocharger... Greddy makes a list of upgradable turbos for multiple applications.. in this case.. they supplied AutoCraft with the T620 turbocharger (the rest of the kit remains identical).

Best Regards,
BP

The frontal beam won't keep your car from being totaled on anything over 20mph anyway.

Car sounded weird accelerating. Like it was pulsating or was that just the audio on the camera not able to capture the sound properly?

That's not entirely true. I know a girl who crashed her BRZ with a pickup truck that had a trailer hitch exactly in the beam area, about 20 mph. Damage was moderate, she got her car fixed. Without the beam, forget about it.

If you have a look at the Greddy Blog the system keeps the bumper support bar and even if you dont want the big bar install the Beatrush crash bar

YESS, I've been waiting for someone to do this!!!

mrk1 07-30-2013 03:55 PM

looks cool but where does the hot air passing over the IC go? pretty tight in the bumper there

BPAuto 07-30-2013 06:40 PM

Hey, sent you a PM but essentially, it's more efficient to run a "V Mount" set up since the outside ambient air is reaching bot the intercooler and the radiator simultaneously.

im kind of interested in the blow off valve question as well, does it come with a bov? im sure they would have done something to not have compressor surge.

BPAuto 08-07-2013 01:47 PM

Please check you PM :D

FRSRAVEN 08-10-2013 12:51 PM

Yo BPauto, I have the same BOV question. Can you send me that magical PM? Not keen on compressor surge, the lack of provisions for a BOV turned me off of this kit. But the uber short piping and the moderate sized turbo means it'll have great response! Turbo is good for 420HP from my readings, so should support some serious power down the line.

usptwins 08-10-2013 04:30 PM

I really enjoy the products that GReddy and HKS are putting out. Just hope they make the parts upgradeable for some big power. North of 500whp.

BPAuto 08-12-2013 01:57 PM

PM Sent. Thanks! :D
