Forza 4 Drift Help
Anybody have any tips for drifting in forza 4? I wanted to start drifting in the game because it seems like fun.
extra info: currently use: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Wirel.../dp/B000VBIGK4 (borrowed a friends) may switch to a controller soon mods feel free to move if this is incorrect forum :) |
I have the same problem. Real world tuning doesn't translate. Just don't do any of that awd drifting.

About 90% of it does. A few things, tuning wise, are kinda stupid, but its still pretty easy to adjust. My gt is TLDrft86. If you play online and you wanna learn, just hit me up. |
sadly I dont have live.

My problem is on forza 3 I could drift all day long no probl, then when I got 4, it's not the same, the ass end likes to over correct after you start coming out of a drift automatically sending you into another drift in the opposite direction, I tried correcting it with my suspension and roll bars but it def doesn't do any good, at least where I've tried tuning it.

Either Dragon and Ichi gonna troll us lol or not many people gonna join us. But, I'll give it a try |
Already been started....search!

Turning off simulated steering makes it 18x easier to connect without over steering into a wall.
|
Really? Is that one of the difficulty settings before each race? Like disabling traction control?
Or somewhere else? |
Make sure you have most of the assists turned off. I didn't have any problem transitioning from Forza 3 to Forza 4 drifting, I think it's mainly due to people leaving on simulations assists.
You can change all the settings in the main difficulty menu and they'll stay with you for every race. |
I never used any assists on 3, everything was always off. Same on 4, but it just seems like the car always over corrects when you come out of a big drift. I think what midship was stating before soy da good, but if he's talking about an aid like that the. It's already been off and I need to figure out a tuning solution
Wow the iPhone is kicking my thumbs ass today |

Their is no Forza 4 Lap Time thread |
I'd participate in a lap time thread.
|
I could have swore they started one already, maybe it's a gt5 lap time thread.... Ok the me should search...

I turn off all the assists and use manual w/ clutch. I found out that it makes it 10 times easier to control a drift if you can control the clutch.

I'm talking about the aid. I turn steering to normal and there is a night and day difference to me. Manual with clutch is also a must. In forza 3 you could get away with no clutch if you had a bazillion horse power.

The answer you guys gave about the simulation steering is correct. Thats exactly why there's so much snap oversteer when correcting a slide. Turning off the simulation steering is sort of cheating in my opinion but the OP will get the desired effect he's looking for. If you guys want to do a hotlap battle, I dare one of you to try and beat my B Class time around Nurburgring GP Full without using a Muscle Car or Leaderboard car. My best is a 2:14.1~ something in a Merc 190E. If anyone can crack 2:13, you've beat me. I'm so down for a hotlap battle. Hell, if you guys want you can come join my group of friends and I. We race 25+ lap endurance races (with a few rules which we've worked on over the years) and always welcome new people. Try not to feel overwhelmed though, we are pretty damn fast without using leaderboard cars. GT: bneale Car club is AERL or Apex Endurance Racing League bneale |
Hey with Forza fans here
I have a thread called Forza Lap Times Competition LET'S COMPETE! http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3735 Grip Racing, and I could split it up, shall I say DRIFT COMPETITION TOO (soon)? |
Sounds good to me

Try to be easy on the throttle, small corrections. I'd have to know more about your setup/car to make any other suggestions. When people are learning to drift they have a tendency to stay on the throttle at the same amount throughout the curve regardless of angle/speed. It's very much like a real drift car, if you have a lot of power you can't always have a heavy foot, you have to be very delicate with it. |
Thanks

Aside from turning simulation steering off, definitely use the controller over the wireless wheel, it's probably much more accurate. You can also play with the settings to help with the balance; I like to stiffen the front sway bars to max and leave the rear at about 85%-95% so I can maintain the angle I enter at without, erm, over-oversteer.
anyone wanting to mess around my GT is "user errors" - I'll be on this weekend. I prefer to run tandem and do exciting entries over running stupid lines and competing for points. |
