Anyone with an AT turbo?

Has anyone here installed a turbo on their AT and found any issues with it? Blown torque converter? Messed up transmission? Thanks.

Full blown has an auto on E85 pushing over 400whp.

killerkid08 05-22-2013 05:45 PM

no blown torque converter, jacked up transmission, or any issues at all as of yet,

push 11 psi through it via an AVO kit. around 15k total miles or so.

will advise once i'm at 16 psi.

killerkid08 05-22-2013 06:19 PM

any shops pushing boost through A/T's please chime in as well, would love to know what the community is doing to help sustain and maintain the trans.

tonyfrs86 05-22-2013 06:27 PM

Stage 1.5 AT correct. BRZRanger is too, but we're waiting on some new stuff for him. :)

I didn't remember you were auto!!

Fuel pump holding good??

killerkid08 05-22-2013 06:45 PM

holding good and rich for now, got my 8psi actuator on order, and working on looking for upgrades for AT reliability. (if nothing is going wrong, the only thing that can happen is bad, which must be prevented at all costs, lol.)

P&L pushed it over 17psi on their auto. Paul was saying that the torque converter lags at that boost.

FullBlown 05-22-2013 08:28 PM

Our's is still running strong. Even though a girl owns it, she's not the typical girl who babies her car.

any particulars on what she's pushing, and has modified ?

not trying to peep under someone's hood without asking, but its for the community.

300hp 9-10 psi 93 octane with our stage 1 kit.

kioton32 05-23-2013 06:08 PM

I'll be doing an innovate S/C on an automatic... Well technically bob ans the guys at drift office will be installing and tuning it... Lol.

t00n3wb 05-23-2013 06:37 PM

Hmm. Yeah I'm like looking into either an AVO or P&L down in the future, but I'm not to sure. :/ aha

mechaghost 05-23-2013 07:18 PM

hah, seems like a lot of FI AT guys are in the NW :p I might be next.. but not anytime soon

FA20Club.com 05-23-2013 11:42 PM

3k miles on mine, I daily drive mine, getting 23.5mpg (NA was 24 mpg), and no problems. I love it and recommend @AVOturboworld and @Drift-Office's tune!

Its been a few months. Thought I'd check in to see if anyone else has had any issues? Real close to buying the innovate SC, just a little hesitant

whiteout13FRS 09-10-2013 05:41 AM

I am getting a FA20 kit next month. I will let you know in November I am tracking it at AMP if the event happens.

BRZPDX 09-10-2013 12:09 PM

I'd still get a AT cooler kit and change out the oem fluid to a high performance atf.

itdansharpe 09-10-2013 01:24 PM

FBM base kit. 9psi. AT. No transmission related issues at all, only comment I would make is that when you are accelerating WOT, the transmission seems to shift poorly if actuated AFTER 7,000RPM. So, I'd recommend setting the shift light to 6,800RPM.

Just curious, but why are some manufacturers of force induction (particularly SC) state their kits are for MT only? Lack of testing with AT? Too much torque to the transmission?

The only FI I could find that specifically list a product for AT is the AVO turbo kit . I understand some of you have used FA20Club Turbo kit as well as Innovate kit for superchargers.

placement of turbo might need to be different for AT. It's a design question/ routing piping/ etc (ie/ ptuning turbo is only for manual due to this reason).

I think it is mostly because the automatics run off a different ROM so they require a different flash and they just haven't gotten one in shop to test the tune on.

I would check out http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=53020 if you want to boost your auto frs.
