Sorry i couldn't find the weight information, but it's a cast 1 piece wheel.

In our experience...gramlights are not so gramlight

Well, Gram Lights are basically cast Volks at a price point similar to non-forged Advan wheels...all ripoffs more or less.

Let's release the same 6 spoke design over and over and over and over etc.

They are really dang strong for what they are and will hold up to a lot more than other, lesser quality cast wheels - I'll give them that much. Nothing wrong with them in my eyes (we run a set ourselves on our FR-S), just nothing that they were on the heavier side. ;)

I don't have a scale. I heard that the 18x9.5 with the fancy pink paint was close to 22lbs per wheel.

what's the difference between the 57dr and these 57c6?

i2ex 11-09-2013 02:44 PM

57dr have different pcd, and they do look similar XD

It's just a different style of wheel. Here is the 57DR:

@denkigrve 6-spoke design doesn't seem any different to me.

It's just about how the spokes are shaped and connect to the wheel. I like the way the spokes are designed on the 57C6 better than the 57DR. The whole 57 lineup is very similar, but for me it's all about the small details in the lines and shape that the wheel creates. The spoke layout of the 57C6 tricks the eye into thinking the wheels are bigger than they actually are. Where as, for me, the 57DR ends up appearing smaller due to how the spokes connect to the dish.

There are 2 key differences I notice. Only the 57C6 has grooves indented along the sides of each spoke. The most significant difference is the 57DR spokes are set on the inside of the lip making the spokes shorter and stubbier. The 57C6 are not bound by a lip but extend to the edge of the rim making the spokes longer. That lip and different spoke lengths make all the difference and you would see the difference if each wheel were mounted on cars next to each other in the same size.

RAY's Engineering 57C6 Velvet Marine Review & Weigh off

Just got to see some new RAYS Engineering Gramlight 57C6 in Velvet Marine/Blue, so decided to make a video. I know a lot of us 86 owners are really interested in these wheels.

Purdy color!

zimzum 02-24-2014 05:12 PM

does the velvet sheen wear off over time? I have heard some tend to fade after a couple of months and are pretty much gone by a years end. Correct me if I'm wrong. Beautiful wheels.

CrazyWookiee 02-24-2014 05:27 PM

We're not too sure. Ray's has only had this finish out since mid last year and no one has had any complaints about it so far. The few that I've seen running around have kept their sheen pretty well so far in the 57Xtreme, but those spokes are a lot less "facing" surface area. I imagine the bigger spoke surface on the 57C6 would show the reduction in sheen if there was any. I'll keep you posted :)

I was told their crazy neon green sheen would wear down and become less vibrant :/ wonder about these. Look amazing tho

Cool. Keep us updated. Also thanks for the video. Seeing a wheel on video is so much better than just seeing pics online.

CrazyWookiee 02-24-2014 07:18 PM

Agreed. I've seen some of the bright Neon Green and Fluorescent pinks become much less vibrant after being parked outside everyday during the summer. I often use Gtechniq C5 Wheel Armour, Gtechniq Exo Coat or Opti-coat coating on wheels, and some people have said that these help withstand the fading.

fitment

is their any problem fitting these in front with KW V1 coilover?

and anyone know what does aggresive front fitment mean?

CrazyWookiee 02-27-2014 11:57 AM

Should not be any problems. Lots of people are going to be running the 57C6 in a square set-up in this size and offset. Rubbing will mostly be determined by what size tires you wish to run.

Great video, thanks for the info. Really deciding between this wheel type or the Advan Rg3s
