Wheel Directory: Advan RG-D 18x9.5 +40

I have wanted a set of gold Advan RGs since I first saw them on Honda Civic hatches back in the early 2000s. I definitely couldn't afford them back then, but I finally have the latest iteration to put on my own BRZ. The new setup will be:

Advan RG-D 18x9.5 +40 Gold
Michelin Pilot Super Sport 265/35/18

I was inspired by @Jive Turkey to give the 265s a shot after having run Michelin PSS 245/35/18 for about 7 months now. My car has a Full Blown turbo kit and a full set of 08-12 STI brakes. I was originally worried that the wheels would not clear the calipers, so when I got home and saw the boxes at my door, I had to do a test fit. The wheels fit exactly as I exptected them to. They actually clear the front caliper better than my current WedsSport TC105n 18x8 +42s do. They barely clear the lower spring perch, but I am fixing that by purchasing coilovers. I ordered the tires last night, so I hope to have these on in a couple weeks. Here are the teaser test fit pics:

Thanks to @RavSpec for the great price on the Advans.

Define direct. You can find the answers you seek in my thread here:

Nice railway racer you got there. I'm a tarmac guy myself, but hey...

;)

Lookin good, love the blue/gold combo. Sure doesn't hurt that they're Advans.

So...just gonna toss the Weds then? There's room in the recycle bin I call my garage.

shu5892001 05-16-2013 06:10 PM

Looks good! Glad to see so many people doing 18x9.5 +40 all around. Definitely digging the square concave look! fyi I had to use a 3mm spacer for 18x9.5 +40 in the front to clear the spring perch. I am stock, not lowered

DNAPoPo 05-16-2013 06:54 PM

Looking Good Mr TuT!

The Weds are for sale.

Those wheels are great, I had a set of rg2 (very similar, but no "lip") replicas on my 95 civic hb back in high school and always wished I could afford the real deal haha

wrb+gold is the way it's meant to be!

Turdinator 05-16-2013 11:00 PM

The Advans look great. Was there much weight difference between them and the weds?

Well they are 1.5 inches wider, but I think the numbers say they are over 3 lbs heavier per wheel. They certainly feel heavier than I remember my Weds feeling.

GTB/ZR-1 05-17-2013 09:13 AM

They're going to look awesome, Chris--nicely done...

King Tut 05-17-2013 11:25 AM

Forgot to say thanks to @RavSpec for the great price on the Advans.

redsuns03 05-17-2013 01:57 PM

I'm planning to get there in a couple months. So if I choose a 17" they wouldn't fit?

King Tut 05-17-2013 03:04 PM

You can still get 265s to fit on a 17" wheel if you want. You will need at least a 9" wide wheel.

PRORICAN 05-17-2013 03:11 PM

Can't wait to see them mounted! Love me some Advans, nice choice!

King Tut 06-17-2013 04:05 PM

Alright, results are in. Alignment settings:

Front Camber: -2.0
Front Toe: 0
Rear Camber: -1.5
Rear Toe: A little toe in

GTB/ZR-1 06-17-2013 04:57 PM

So very, very nicely turned out... Looks like how a factory STi should look!

f0rge 06-17-2013 05:20 PM

That's supremely badass, love the look.

Clipdat 06-17-2013 05:20 PM

So sexy!

Redstar 06-17-2013 05:39 PM

Any fender work done?

Fitment is pretty legit

Just like @Jive Turkey , I rubbed in the rear where the bumper meets the fender. It took quite a bit of work to get it trimmed enough to not rub. I had a local guy roll both of my rear fenders just in case. The front is still all stock. I do rub the little lip in the fender behind the reflector with lots of steering angle if I load up the suspension, but anything other than U turns and pulling into tight parking spots it never rubs in the front.

colHolm 06-17-2013 05:47 PM

That setup looks amazing. Nicely done!

Tansey86 06-18-2013 10:28 AM

Coilovers correct?

Looks awesome man, great stance and fitment. Is 265 the widest you'd go on this current setup? Keeping the same height and alignment specs? Or could you go a bit wider?

No way would I go wider, but I am not the kind of guy that wants to run -3 degrees of camber or anything crazy. I am sure one of the narrower 275 width tires would work. I also had more inner strut clearance than I expected changing to the BCs, so I would think a 9.5 +45 might fit a 275 better.

Alright cool, thanks man. Keep the great mods comin!

ModBargains.com 06-18-2013 12:21 PM

Oh that fitment...

Jive Turkey 06-18-2013 12:45 PM

DUDE. DUDE.

that looks good! welcome to the meaty club!

i HIGHLY suggest you roll or just push in those flares in hte front. mine wasn't and issue and then one day i hit a bump and that caused my wheel to hit that and chip paint on the fender...so do it as a preventative care notion.

GTM_Challenge 06-18-2013 12:59 PM

Looks great man!

Abflug 06-18-2013 01:38 PM

pefect work!

OICU812 06-18-2013 01:45 PM

I like me a MEATY tire, cringe at seeing big wheel lip to tire gap, looks great man!:happy0180:

Nice looking wheels
I got 18x9.5 +45 and coilovers, what tire size and camber you recommend ?

ZetaVI 06-23-2013 09:25 AM

I love Advan wheels.

You should be able to fit 265/35/18, but if you aren't forced induction then a 245/35/18 or 255/35/18 would probably be better choices.

King Tut 06-25-2013 01:15 PM

@DarrenDriven did my new wheels get added to the wheel directory?
