Reggaeboyz 05-14-2013 04:11 PM

You could try the Perrin 2" shorty antennas

Splat 05-14-2013 04:11 PM

so many have goofy sharkfin. I just roll with my stock and think it looks just as good.

mrlewistan 05-14-2013 04:21 PM

i think the stock is the better looking out of all the ones ive seen. the stubby looks like a severed pinky and the sharkfin looks too chunky especially at the base

The Beat-Sonic Shark Fin is just a personal like with most people in my opinion.

I hate the "RC Car" look with a passion. http://i1011.photobucket.com/albums/...l-attendre.gif

Here's mine....

I second @TRD-X (our cars are twins, for real)! I don't particularly hate the "RC" look, I would just prefer not to have that look.

CircuitJerk 05-14-2013 07:53 PM

I'm kinda partial to my VG SharkFin. I always preferred that over the BeatSonic and the others.

This is the same antenna that I have, but in Asphalt. I like the look of it better and like how its a little different then all the other FR-S's with the common Shark-fin antennas.

IloveBaldEagles 05-14-2013 09:38 PM

I got the VG fin too on my asphalt. I second it. Good paint match up and they are friendly and helpful over email too!

i wonder where this came from - RC car antennas look nothing like what's on the BRZ or FR-S.

however, our antenna DOES like like the one on an FRS hand held radio.

Wo6M 05-15-2013 03:35 PM

Where can I find these shark fin antenna?

rhood168 05-15-2013 06:57 PM

The G37 mod antenna IMO looks way better, each to their own. Personally it would have been nice to have had antenna incorporated into rear window and no roof antenna at all that would be slick looking.

TaddyDobbins 05-15-2013 09:14 PM

Birds keep perching on my antenna and do their business on my car while I am at work. Definitely need a change.

I'm rocking the Beastsonic Sharkfin antennae as well. I love the look, but it is starting to peel. Probably due to the heat and melting the adhesive?

Anyways, our cars has a shark-like front, so the sharkfin antennae enhances the cosmetics.

I'm in PHX AZ and I haven't had any problem with the heat. We've been in triple digits for a little while now too.

Cyau 11-07-2013 11:15 PM

Has anyone tried and antenna from a different car?

dnieves 11-08-2013 05:43 AM

The shark fins are also practical when you use a car cover -no antenna getting droopy/limp from a heavy cover resting on it.

K2 11-11-2013 09:16 PM

If I was to go the shark fin route I'd look at the Calrearo because they have models that include a GPS antenna as well as AM/FM, DTV, etc.

Dreamshot 11-11-2013 09:41 PM

For those with the shorty antenna: Do you notice any reception advantages/disadvantages over stock? Above average AM/FM reception is very important to me since its related to my job.

Before purchasing the FR-S, I was actually looking forward to improved reception over my previous car; I was using my mom's XD as a point of comparison and just assumed, going in to it, that all Scion's had the same antenna. To my disappointment, the FR-S antenna is actually of poorer quality and there is a noticeable difference (albeit rather minor) in reception. The average listener probably couldn't detect the difference.

The average FR-S owner probably doesn't care as much about radio reception as me, though :]

The reception is notably worse than the stock one.

I've been looking for this one! Where'd you get it??
Reception doesn't bug me since I mostly used USB or cd's.

Edit* sob I replied to the wrong person. This is @Efferalgan

Well, probably I used a wrong word: not "notable" as "significant" but rather "recognizable" worse. I.e. you lose signal half a second earlier when entering a tunnel and gain it back half a second later - that's what is easy to spot but in normal conditions it's 100% fine. If you live in a city where signal is strong and don't drive via tunnels much - you will hardly notice any significant difference. I'd say it's 10-15% worse in reception capability than the stock one, not more than that.

trekkie 12-11-2013 08:27 AM

i would go no antennae. radio sucks anyway.

From a former vendor whom has since been banned.
Here is the direct link to the manufacturer http://www.visualgarage.com/Order.php
Looks like they are updating their site and I'm not sure how long it's been in that state but there is an email address to contact them directly.
I don't recommend contacting the former vendor, and just to make sure you avoid, the vendor username is 86_ZN6 and they also have an external website which you can identify by the username in the address if you do an internet search using keywords 'VG SharkFin FR-S' That website appears to be parked too, so you know it's no buenos...

Good luck.

SWeet, Yeah I've heard lots of bad things about that vendor. Thanks for the tip!!
