Crashed my frs.

I took a turn too quick and ran up a curb hitting a fire hydrant. The front right bumper is destroyed. The front right wheel inverted in (looks like positive camber). The fender is bent so I cant even drive it forward. Anyone know any sites for OEM parts? Ill provide some pics.

it got fixed by a local shop who was a customer at our restaurant so got the price reduced in exchange for food lol. i dont remember how much tho, been a while. But now im starting to have issues with that wheel again but not sure if it was related to that crash or not.

about 3/4K+ depending on shop... that a good wreak :eyebulge:

OICU812 05-13-2013 02:58 AM

Best to just get it to a bodyshop somehow and have them take a good look at the frame. Way your passenger side is pushed in could be some serious frame damage/twist/ Best to not guess and hope you have good insurance coverage cause if the frames involved yup she'll be BIG $$$.

mrlewistan 05-13-2013 02:58 AM

on the bright side, you didnt total it in an out of control drift like a few other people

Itssrayyxd 05-13-2013 03:10 AM

do you guys think it will be more than 10k?

I don't think it will be that much, but I'm not an expert. Just get an estimate from a couple shops.

Gaiakai 05-13-2013 03:18 AM

That'll buff right out

What seat covers are those btw? I really like 'em - clazzio?

haha, I was gonna point that out. They look pretty damned nice. Maybe he can trade someone for stock seats and some cash to pay for the damage.

They were addons. Came with the car. They are full leather from the dealership. I believe it was 2.5k

I just want an idea. Because this is my first car and I don't know how much the car parts will cost. And I don't want to involve the insurance company as well

asia_minor 05-13-2013 03:29 AM

my condolences.

Inb4 your not elite enough driver crowd....

Good luck man it hurts me right in the feels to see those pics. Shit happens hopefully your insurance makes the process ok for you.

Were all human and make mistakes good luck.

ft_sjo 05-13-2013 03:57 AM

Under steer. It does it out the box.

Cyau 05-13-2013 04:04 AM

Just wondering, exactly how hard you took that turn? Like a 90degree turn at 50mph?

or just gas it too hard? Also what mode were you on?

Just trying to get some info here, so I make sure I won't do the same.

Trojan_SC 05-13-2013 04:32 AM

Sorry to read/see that man. Definitely go to at least a few different shops to get an estimate on the cost to repair the damages. Just be prepared to see some unfavorable prices. I got a nasty scuff on my front bumper and they gave me an estimate of $730 just to repaint the sucker. In the end, if you have to do an insurance claim, just do it. You could always say a fire hydrant fell off a truck and hit your car on the freeway...lol. Good luck with getting that taken care though.

ap1mikeo 05-13-2013 04:50 AM

i recommend keeping the hard driving/messing around on track.

not saying you were being reckless, but there's no debating that a little driver education can go a long way.

Carlitoz3 05-13-2013 06:03 AM

Ouch :/

Nezz 05-13-2013 06:22 AM

yeah man. Insurance. If you've got it, use it. Sure it's your first car but if you don't use your insurance why the hell do you have it? Doesn't mean you're going to stack like this again necessarily.

I was going 30 and almost missed the turn. So I turned the wheel too hard.

mostly this... i still slide around on roads that i know but one time, i was driving on unknown roads, i almost flew into concrete because there were so many rocks on the ground my car just went straight when i went for a turn. never again.

Itssrayyxd 05-13-2013 11:11 AM

I'll take some more detailed pictures when I get home.

BClark 05-13-2013 12:19 PM

The wheel is about $360, front cover $300, fender $200, another $100 for the fender liner and bolts that are no longer good, another $100 for the marker lamp/bezel/hardware, if the headlamp is damaged that's another $800. I am sure there some suspension damage there, OEM struts are $210, and the control arm and knuckle are a $385 combo. Add paint cost and labor I'd say you're looking at a $4000 job without major suspension/frame damage, and well over $5500 if there is. If you're able to pay out of pocket for this, I salute you, but it's probably a better idea to just take the hit on your premiums and let insurance take care of it.

TL;DR Its well under $10,000, but you should let your insurance take care of it.

LeeMaster 05-13-2013 12:33 PM

I like your "works" sticker even though it doesn't work.

Isn't like the first thing they teach you in driver school to keep going straight if you miss your turn and then just turn around? And I think the sole purpose of said advice is to avoid things such as this...

I had some shit happen like this to my Celica though back in the day. No bumper/frame damage but plenty of axle damage. That was $1500 with wholesale/dealer cost parts and a reduction in labor costs though sooo...

#87 05-13-2013 01:18 PM

I would go to insurance but don't try to lie about it, it is quite apparent what happened.

Unless you know a good shop because there is some serious suspension damage there I wouldn't try DIY unless I was a mechanic.

jadewbj 05-13-2013 01:29 PM

Never understand why people don't use their insurance. That is what it is for. They won't raise your rates that much if you put in a claim, heck some policies have a no increase policy. Just don't commit fraud.

You pay all that in premiums and then when you actually need to use it you decide not to?

Baffling.

You buy insurance to cover accidents like this. The way that wheel is folded under I am betting on some frame damage and well as bent suspension parts. That is addition to the wheel, fender and bumper will make this fairly expensive. My advice is to report it to the insurance company, pay your deductible, get it fixed properly and learn from your mistake. Be thankful that there wasn't someone standing or walking next to that fire hydrant. Be safe.

Lesson well learned. Gonna be more careful if I'm allowed to keep driving

This is the biggest reason not to make last minute turns if you're moving too fast.

cartmanisnumber1 05-13-2013 02:39 PM

I did this same thing to my tC about 5 years ago. There was no body damage except for a broken mud guard. The axle was broke and everything, my wheel looked a lot like yours and it was $4,000 at the dealership to get it fixed.
