Doesn't Scion have that "one" price thing? So you get the car at one price. So wouldn't a group buy not fly with their sales philosophy? I'm not familiar with Scion at all so can't really say, but I know that there are a few Scion owners here so maybe they can answer.

Kuzuri 02-06-2012 09:02 PM

yeah i doubt Scion will be doing a group buy to get a lower price... Scion has "Pure Pricing" like stated above.... you pay what the car is advertised for...

stlgrym3 02-09-2012 10:42 PM

maybe not group-buys for Scion but when can we put deposit down and how many each dealer gonna get? will it be like Subaru only 1, 2 per dealer during the initial launch?

I put my deposit in at Longo Scion a couple weeks ago. Salesman was Jeff Chang, good guy! Done through email but he keeps me updated with any news he hears.

stlgrym3 02-16-2012 10:38 PM

i went to Longo Scion, walking distance from home. the sales guy there told me they have accepted 15 deposits so far. no options on the car, you can only choose colors and transmission types. i have second thoughts on this car because i just realized the car is barely larger than a Miata, i honestly thought it'd be bigger from all the pictures i've seen so far.

I put a deposit down in person with Longo in the first week of January. Spoke to Dave Gentry and Jeff both good guys. At the time, Longo was the only dealer in So Cal (South LA county and the OC) who knew about the FR-S. I called or visited most of the Scion dealers in that area and they were clueless. Longo also had the Hollywood FR-S debut on their website. I was the 11th deposit. Longo is a Giant dealership and I figure they would be one of the first to get a large delivery of the FR-S and I would have a better chance of getting one.

no thats completely wrong!! thats what I thought about the whole size of a Miata....When I went to go look at the BRZ on Wed...the car was a pretty good size!! honestly the size almost looks like Genesis Coupe there's way way way more room in the BRZ/FRS then a miata...

Eww Pasadena is a rippoff center. I doubt you'd get a good deal from them. They like to sell past 5k-10k of accessories if its a hot seller item. Just warning you first.

But I am not sure about how they handle their Scion side. But I really dislike that store. And they been to known to have bad customer relations and try to hide fees.

Marrk 02-24-2012 01:13 AM

Last weekend, North Hollywood Scion told me they thought the car might be coming in around August or September. And they didn't seem to care much one way or the other.

Damn lol I thought the pure price would just have everything the same :( where would u recommend preordering the car?

statuskuo 02-24-2012 04:22 AM

from my understanding I thought the scion pure price was true for accessories and options and etc. :$ is it done at a dealership level or nation-wide set by Scion?

I bought all of my Toyota's from Longo. Depending on the rep , they don't force you to get the extra accessories. And they will take it out if you ask nicely. Especially if you purchased from them before, they are more likely to do it without a hassle. The rep I use is Paul Leung though if your interested.

And like I said I am not sure how Scion works. But I know that Toyota Pasadena when they had 1 Prius left, they added 10k of accessories and refused to take it out. But said they didn't mark up the price of the car.

I was interested in Sienna too, and the particular model I wanted they wanted to charge one model higher with extra accessories. They also gave me an OTD price then on the contract started adding the fees back on the contract to make it higher. I hate their games, but you can't really do that type of games on Scion. Although I am not sure if they can force those accessories on you as a Scion.

Same here. We ordered both our cars with Jeff at Longo. Great guy.

To those who ordered the FRS, did they tell you how much the estimated price was? One of the dealers here in Carson told me it's going to be 25-27k so i'm still hesitant to place my order. BRZ premium will have HIDS and is rumored to be 24k so 25k for FRS is a no go.

Can anyone recommend a scion dealer here in carson or torrance? Maybe carson scion is putting too much buffer on the est price.

Fly Guy 03-01-2012 03:36 PM

There's no way the FR-S will be more expensive than the BRZ Premium unless you can deal down the price. That price sounds too much.

russv 03-01-2012 06:59 PM

I spoke with a Scion rep and he said it would probably start at $25,999

RRnold 03-01-2012 07:31 PM

Has anybody checked out Carson Toyota yet?

The one in 223rd and wilmington? I talked to them and they told me the est price is 25-27k. Kinda high, isn't?

I would try Longo Scion in El monte . They are one of the biggest dealers around. I have a deposit with them. They might be kinda far. I'm coming from the OC. They have no numbers yet . They said during the NY auto show they will know for sure, April 4-15.

That price point should kill it for a lot of would-be buyers. And it might make the "mad rush" to buy one a little less maddening.

peekeesh 03-03-2012 01:06 AM

Grateful Dave, have you dealt with this dealer before? Or did someone recommend you to them? i'll check em out and hopefully the pre-order list ain't long. thanks!

Marrk, i know right? I was a little bit discouraged hearing the price so might try one more dealer. If price is too high, then i'll prolly wait a lil.
