Coming to Seattle, Need Tourist Info ha
Coming to seattle in about 1.5 Months just looking for where the best places to eat are, best coffee shops, any places I should visit while I am there (space needle etc)
Any ideas welcomed! I will be located near this address 110 6th Ave N Seattle, WA 98109 so anything walkable would be nice PS, I am a falafel connoisseur so if you know where I can find the best one let me know! |
No good falafel places here sadly. Most of the places I have been to are OK at most.
|
Awwww what the hipsters doing, the least they can do is make a decent falafel joint! haha thanks !
|
If you want Korean BBQ then there's a couple of good places I know :)

May have to keep this in mind, Post the best place out of all of them you can think of! My brother in law who will be coming with me loves all types of asian food. |
Since you're staying in that area the space needle is a few blocks away if you're interested in that. You're also by the EMP (Experimental Music Project).
As for food you're close to Belltown and relatively close to Downtown. If you just want to hit all the popular spots (the ones on food network and travel channel), there's Serious Pie on 3rd and Virginia. I love their white truffle cheese pizza and some of his other restaurants (Lola, Dahlia Lounge, Dahlia Bakery) are all around there. Also, try Serious Biscuit in South Lake Union. If you're here on a weekday, go to Salumi in Pioneer Square, open 11-4 Tues-Fri. Go early! It's owned by Mario Batali's parents and if you're into food you probably watch Bourdain, he was there at the end of one of his episodes. People say it's overrated but I love that place. Otherwise Paseo's in Fremont or just go to Pike Place and roam around. Beecher's Cheese is really good too. Their other location is in Manhattan so you may have had it already. But honestly just Yelp something and walk around. Capitol Hill isn't far and all the hipsters are there. As much as I dislike hipsters, they always have good food. As for coffee places, you'll have to ask someone else. I usually just drink starbucks cuz it's convenient or Stumptown. Kind of spoiled being in the NW lol |
Awesome information!! Thanks!
|
For Korean BBQ we usually hit up shin sung in federal way. Come hungry leave happy :D
|
Yeah. I love food haha
You should try Walrus & Carpenter as well. It's owned by Renee Erickson and she's kinda blowing up right now. I don't know how long you are here but I would spend my time eating at places like that rather than Din Tai Fung (the Taiwanese chain that's only in LA and Bellevue in the US) or Salty's. Seattle is more about the neighborhoods so if you can venture out to Ballard/Fremont/Capitol Hill/University District etc (i'm sure people have way more to add) you'll get more of a feel of what it's about here. Of course it all depends on how much time you have |

ok one more to add since I just went there. Went to Shiro's in belltown and it's owned by one of Jiro's apprentices and it was as good as it was hyped up to be. Had their omakase and everything was super fresh ([ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jiro_Dreams_of_Sushi"]Jiro Dreams of Sushi - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame]) |
Let's meet up! There's a few of us here :)
|
I've been to shirts when it was still owned by shirk himself. And all I gotta say is damn that place was GOOD
|
Uwajimaya down by the stadium. Serious Japanese supermarket and department store.
Gasworks park on the north side of lake Union. UW campus and U avenue. The bookstore. Museum of History and Industry just opened on the south shore of lake Union in an old Navy building. Wooden boat Museum next door. Ducati dealer then Marineland for low cost sushi on a conveyor. All in the same general area. Ride the monorail downtown from Seattle Center. Ferry ride to Bainbridge and back. Dock is right downtown near Pike Place. Inexpensive as a walk on passenger. Car round-trip will cost about $30 though. Bremerton leaves from the same dock and goes through Rich Passage. Check out the fountain park between the Bremerton terminal and the Navy yard. Not much else in B-town though without a car. |

Is a pretty decent gyro/flafel place. It's not terribly far. |
Some good suggestions here already. That area of seattle is easy to get around by bus- not sure if the bus is still free downtown?
Are you into 'foodie' type places? dives? fine dining? locally grown organic? It's all around. Places to go: Pike Place Market: place they throw fish, also the first starbucks (if you care- coffee tastes the same though), lots of fresh fruit and snacks, food places. One of my favorite is a little mini donut cart. :) Seattle Center- already mentioned Waterfront- some good seafood places- take a Ferry ride If you're a coffee snob, uh, connoisseur ;) there are of course a lot of great coffee places. Stumptown Coffee Cafe Ladro Cafe Vivace Cafe Zoka There's a Zoka and Vivace pretty close to where you are staying- maybe a 5-10" walk. Hope this helps! Good luck and have fun! If you're lucky it might even rain! :D |
Oh, yeah. Ask at the desk for an umbrella when you go out 8)
5 Spot on top of Queen Anne hill and the 5 Point Cafe (cedar and denny) for breakfast. Mamma's Mexican Kitchen (2nd & Bell). |
Thanks for all the Info Folks!

Hit up celebrities nightclub in Vancouver
|
fuck..now i want Korean BBQ
|
Tons to do on foot around the waterfront and downtown then.
Should be able to fill the evening and morning. Seattle Art Museum on 2nd Ave is good. Has a nice cafe/deli if you don't want to go in. Better food down at the Market though. Pike Place Brewery downstairs. Seattle Center, Space Needle, Science Center, more food, grassy spaces to chill. Pacific Center at 6th and Pine. Big atrium with shops all around. Christmas season, they chill it down and blow snow from the top inside 8) |
The space needle's cool. But if you want the best view, go to the Columbia Tower. It's only like $7
