Nissan patrol SUV vs the world
 

im a student here in the states and thought id share what we tend to tune back home with big horsepower, sadly these engines(cars) cannot be imported to the states or i would've got my self one here too.

Its a Nissan Patrol engine code TB48 with a 5 speed manual ( Most turbo'd ones run an upgraded gear box by OS giken) Some are stroked up to 5.2 but most turbo applications are Low press pistons rods with a slightly bigger bore and end up pushing somewhere in the 1000hp range with race gas or meth injection and are safe to DD with 700 pump gas.
on the other hand they are also a beast for Hi CR builds, most are 5.2 L (from 4.8) and end up doing 500shwheel but thats instant power through the whole range

I wonder the same, but the Patrol in the videos does utilize a different engine than the QX56's on this side of the pond.

For the same reason Skylines can't be imported.

It's kind of different than the qx56. And saddly the 5.6 has been worked on with minimal success

One thing I forgot to add we speculate that this is one of the world biggest inline production six.
And the reason for it not being importable I guess is regarding its safety because this car barely has any beams inserted anywhere. The doors are even mostly metal. All of them you see doing such speeds have no roll cages and safety gear sadly and this car tends to take a lot of lives

But Skylines can be imported.

whats the exact reason they can't be imported is it a safety issue ?

a group of friends though of shipping a nissan patrol considering we are international students and i think you can use it for 6 months or so I'm not sure of such laws though

You're a student who drives a Ferrari 458. I'm gonna guess your family has a bit of extra money laying around. Just fedex it over in pieces as spare parts and pay someone to build it again for you, or ask your butler to smuggle one over the border with your private helicopter :lol:

That's basically what it is with a turbo and meth inj. Nice vids but TBH, I'd be more impressed if they mocked up a build and put it in a car like Chris Rado's Tundra engine in a Supra.

Well from what i understand, looking at the R33, it didn't pass emissions and side crash test. So they added a bunch of catalytic converters (3 or 4?) and a metal beam on the side doors of the car, or something like that. But do this day, i still think you have to do all those modifications in order for it to be road worthy in the US.
