WHOA!!!! :eyebulge: Can't wait to see that thing! :party0030:

...another reason why Toyota should have designed their own motor.

bFreed 02-03-2012 10:08 PM

Damn! So jelly. Great candidate for a V8 swap. Tons of room cuz of the boxer motor.

yayforaddison 02-03-2012 10:14 PM

Now thats an engine swap!

merlin2111 02-03-2012 10:28 PM

Yes. I wil eventually put an lsx in this thing.

blur 02-03-2012 10:33 PM

This gives me hope for a v6 swap

ahausheer 02-03-2012 10:56 PM

Nice find thx.

ichitaka05 02-04-2012 03:28 AM

Man oh man that's sexy ;)

Guff 02-04-2012 03:45 AM

Haha, screw Gushi and his EJ! This V8 is sick!!!

Toyota 86 F-Sport!!!!

switchlanez 02-04-2012 03:46 AM

So would they typically install ballasts or move parts to the rear to retain handling balance?

CyberFormula 02-04-2012 03:48 AM

Is the ISF engine a good fit?

ichitaka05 02-04-2012 04:03 AM

^prob won't fit smooth as Gush's EJ... but Orido will make it happen

DommerEOD 02-04-2012 04:12 AM

Thats just awesome!

Mission clearly underway.

it's cool but it's so far removed from the production version. It's like Scion's old tC drift car.

But orido competes in d1..not that wack ass formula d series we have here. Not a fan of the ls swap. Would much rather see a toyota motor in it.....2j :)

Doesn't really matter what he competes in, we are talking about the swap. Yes I know Orido, been watching him back before D1 in the 90s.

ZetaVI 02-04-2012 11:27 AM

:bow:I must bow down to this great engine swap greatness.

And i was refrencing your comment on the old tc in FD which was running a non mass production motorswap which is now illegal in FD. So, i was talking about the swap..thanks

Yo, i heard you like Formula D...

^ I hate Formula D. I'm excited to see Saito compete this year and show the "top FD drivers" what's up. I've seen so much BS within FD it's ridiculous. But I'll stop there before this tread goes too far off topic.

what was the Tc running? BEAMS? or the Nascar V8?

TylerLieberman 02-04-2012 07:25 PM

Nascar V8.

Idk what exactly the motor depicted in the 86 in the OP is but I'd bet along the lines of an LS. I'm just not a fan of LS swaps honestly. They're good motors and do the job, but I'd much rather listen to a 2j full boost, open wastegate screaming over an LS anything

RRnold 02-04-2012 10:36 PM

Next project... a Tundra V8 in a FR-S/86! :bellyroll: :bellyroll: :bellyroll:

If your name is Chris Rado! :D

That's insane... a TT Tundra V8 engine with 2500hp! :respekt:

I believe the engine in the picture is a IS-F V8

IS-F motor in 86 = Brilliant :D well over 400hp in this thing... Sexy AND fast.
can't wait!!

Kids Heart 02-07-2012 08:42 AM

I can promise you this car will pump out massive smoke during qualify then get left behind during Tandem.

This is the first FD type build I've seen for D1. I seriously doubt it will work for the type of courses and style of driving in d1. When he chases he will lose points for blipping the throttle and when he leads he will be caught in the transitions and hairpins by the S chassis. Just you watch

It is not even close the converting a fwd car to rwd...

This is like putting a motor in that can be easily achived if u know where to buy oje from wreckers.

Unlike a nascar v8.

I was just talking about this with a friend, he talked about how so much different D1 is to FD.

It was funny..iv been to a few FD events..but the way he described FD was like describing a super redneck version of NASCAR. vs a political mess that D1 is. Both are drift events but compete very differently.

Theres one thing i like about D1 over FD. Overtaking. Which makes it seem more of a race. Forumla D drivers and penalized when overtaking a car.

Scion has two that were running, I suppose you are talking about the V8 swapped tC. The Scion Racing tC has the factory motor in it with 760hp. But the Rockstar tC had the V8 Nascar motor. I don't know...the Rockstar tC seemed a little more out there than this swap, since it wasn't just a V8 swap. It was a TRD Nascar V8 motor. At least this one is a production car V8 motor.

Just a question. What do you think the "Nascar" V8 had in engineering over other high budget drift team V8s?

Am I late or did anyone else realize his motor is giving us the finger?
