UPDATE: My car is now on BC Extreme Lows. Im running extended studs all around with 10mm spacers in the front only right now.

tire specs are

Front: 215/35/18 Kumho Ecsta AST
Rear: 245/40/18 Falken 912

I will be going with 225/40 Kumho Ecsta ASTs in the rear soon with spacers

Just got tires on my new wheels this morning and i threw them on the car. I bought them in 18x9.5 +45 square from GuerillaRacing

I knew the fronts would be very close but I actually found out they didnt fit, so I'm running 8mm spacers in the front to get about 2mm clearance of the strut base... I have some 10mm Ichibas coming in the mail and those will replace the 8mm ones.

I plan on pulling the fenders a bit to give me clearance once I get the 10mm spacers. and I will be running 10-15mm spacers in the rear but I dont have those yet either... haha... Heres how it looks for now though

What did you use to lower it? If you're still on stock struts, coilovers might give you the clearance you need.

Im on stock struts and S Techs. I plan on coilovers but I cant afford those at the moment!

I still love RPF1s though. I was originally going to go with those... I picked up a used pair in 18x9.5 +38 from a member on here and was going to buy a matching pair from enkei but I couldnt get my hands on them.... So i got a set of kojins instead... the rpf1s will be my rear wheels for the track this summer :)

Do you think with coilovers its possible to run 255/35 ?

in the rear, definitely (Jiveturkey is running 265s on 18x9.5 +40 gram light 57xtremes)... not so sure about the front ... youd have a little more clearance with coilovers so you might not need spacers... it MIGHT be possible...

HELP! 18x9.5 enkei kojin square set up
 

so i have enkei kojin 18x9.5 wheels w/ 245/40 tires.. ive seen this set up before but the issue im having is the lug nuts only turn 3 times and im going to rub on the stock spring :( ! i have STOCK everything right now .. what do i need to buy to run this set up .. i have the wheels just sitting in my car waiting to be installed :( i would love to hear from someone who is running this set up . please and thanks for helping !

Oh, now that you mention it, I'm not sure you have the room to fit those wheels with those tires on stock suspension as stock springs are ridiculously wide.

That would explain why your lugs can't fully tighten - because your wheels can't be fully pushed back on the studs as your springs are in the way.

You need coilovers sir.

@mfbmike thanks ! wasnt planning on buying them anytime soon but i should place an order on some already .. which coilover do you recommend ? ive been seeing alot of the kw v3 but not really looking to spend so much on coilovers .. ive seen teh ST coilovers alot also . i want something affordable and very well made .

ST's are probably a very good bang for the buck coilover if all you're looking for is to be able to fit your new wheels/tires and lower the car some. I'm sure comfort won't be horrible and quality will be good enough for a DD.

I run RCE T0's and am very happy with them. I almost went KW V3's but realized I just didn't need all the extra adjustability as the car is mostly daily driven - granted, daily driven hard very often but still. Very happy with my choice.

There are a lot of active threads in the suspension forum about coilover options. Research there.

@mfbmike i love your build ! you shouldnt sell your wheels tho :( they look amazing ! so what other coilover would you recommend thats not over 2k lol like you said thats the best bang for you buck :)

ST's are perfect for you, and will solve your problem.

You could also buy spacers if you wanted, but then the wheels will poke.

Go KW V3. The non adjustable ones ride pretty bad if you drop lower than an inch. The V3's give you a nice ride while lowered and can be adjusted for drives and tracking. Coilovers are a "you get what you pay for" kind of deal. My RCE T0's are bouncy over small road humps and I still have an inch or so of wheel gap. The only solution is to "raise it up more" which is pretty dumb because I'd be almost back at stock height. Therefore, I moved to the V3's and will be installing them soon.

AFAIK, the Tarmac 0's and V3's have the same adjustability range as far as lowering goes. It's been a while but that was one of my criteria as well. Wanted to make sure I could get low enough.

i may go with the V3s .. i see someone selling some for $1500 just waiting on the reply :) hopefully i can get them at that price ! also im liking the reviews on the STs alot .. just really wanna hurry and get my set up right .. BTW which lug nuts should i go with ?

Adjustable damping, softer springs than the Tarmacs, but mainly the adjustable damping. You can go as low as you want on them and still make them ride nice. Then when you're ready for a performance drive, track, you can go a few clicks harder and stiffen it up. This is what separates them from the ST's, Tarmac 0's, and any of the height adjustable only coilovers. Once you start lowering those, the lack of adjustability with the damping makes the round bouncier because of the longer travel.

KW vs RCE, KW typically has softer springs than RCE. RCE is more track focused purely than ride quality. The Tarmac 2's are the KW V3's with stiffer springs.

its hard to find affordable and well made coils. Id say the cheapest you can find for a some what decent coilover set would be either BCs or Ksports. Both have dampening and height adjustment and front camber adjustment. Good for a daily driver and track days every now and then. Both are going to run you about 1k. I just ordered Ksports myself.

ST's are amazing for the price, I finally got mine on yesterday and they ride fantastic. They're made by KW and have the same valving/rates as KWv1's (same rates as v3 as well) just constructed with a different material.

I'm dropped to about a finger gap all around and they ride great, feels like a slightly tighter/firmer setup than stock but still very comfortable. If you shop around you can get them for $750-800 which is really cheap.

Thanks! Ive only been around the block a few times. They are pretty stiff but im having clunking issues in the rear. been fooling with them for about 3 weeks. tomorrow is the last day im messing with them. if the clunk doesnt go away then thats how theyre staying. lol

i think im about to buy these, i wanna put 265s on them for that meaty tire look.
