FS: TRD shift knob "replica"... haha
So hear me out. Haha. I bought a few of these thinking that there may be a few members like myself that like the look, but not the price of the TRD shift knob. These are NOT genuine TRD shift knobs so I want to be straight up about that, but to be honest they are pretty nice for what they are. It's lighter than the stock knob and has a nice feel in the hand since it's a bit wider too. I'm asking for $50 shipped. Please PM if you're interested. I only have a few. Here are some pics!

I'm not trying to scam anyone... Just thought some people would be interested in this like I was! :) |
Looks like a pretty good replica. I wouldn't mind picking one up if I had a FR-S.
|
I'm interested. Pm me your Paypal
|
i'll take it pm me if still available
|
how much for local pick up? if still available.
|
Its fattened girth makes for a sporty grip. Not as comfortable as stock. The shortened height requires a tad more effort to shift almost like a short shifter. Looks simple but quite deceivingly agressive.
|
Still have one available? I'd like to pick one up!
|
picked one up at the Simplicity in Sound meet.. thanks phanguy!!!
was gonna go all genuine TRD stuff on my car (I have the genuine jdm exhaust and body kit) but this is one item that I saved over $100 (versus the real deal) and very happy about. |
yeah almost every person i pm'd never responded... so i still have a few left. *shrugs*
|
does the real 1 have the gear diagram or not? i see both when i search the knob

not sure. don't have one. but for what it is and for the cost difference i'm pretty happy with it. one of the main reasons i like it, and got it, is that my stock knob cap kept popping up if i screwed it down to far, but if i didn't screw it down far enough then it would slip sometimes when shifting... but i can screw this to a perfect point so i'm really happy about that. the grip is a bit wider too so that's really nice. the only downside, because this is a downside based on preference, is that it's lighter than stock. some like it heavy, some like it light. this one is light.
materials wise it's hard to say without a real one to compare. plus the fact that you know it's fake also makes you kind of look at it and try to see/think of it as fake. know what i mean? but to a person that doesn't have a legit one or doesn't know it's fake, then i don't think they would know. at least the people that have seen mine didn't know until i told them. :P |
I can vouch for this replica knob and everything phanguy says is true. As long as you start threading the knob properly, it will line up perfectly when it is all the way tightened.
Since the shift pattern print is on the indented area, I dont really anticipate fading, unless you rest your sweaty palm on it all the time! Even the real TRD knob is lighter than the stock one, so the weight difference is actually a properly replicated property :) The only thing I've noticed is that the fake leather is a little dry, but you should be able to clean it and then condition it with some Lexol. Hey, for a $100 savings, there really is nothing to complain about this knob! Phanguy: mind telling us where did you pick these up? Brian |
Not bad but damn that stitching looks like its ready to come off after the first shift.
|
WOW
I will tell all of you stright up I purchased my TRD shift knob from nigel
And thi f***ing think looks Identical so does the box. I went in to Carson Toyota and I can confirm that these look identical. It's a little upsetting paying the $100 dollers more I did for one. But knowing its real makes it ok right!.....wrong The real shift knob is sold for about $90.0" us in Japan. So this thing is nearly half of that. I have always belived pay to play No fake stuff, if you want the bling no fronting. But this thing fooled me ???? What a delema Enjoy the knobs. But know this deep down You Are a poser!! Just saying |
Interested if you have one left.
Tap'd via G-Note2... |

|

As an FYI for the fake label on the box, the Authentic TRD knob is not made in Japan. This knob looks very similar, but the top plate is a little different and fit of the stitching and leather (or is it actual leather?) looks cheaper in this knock-off.
The real one costs 100.59 USD right now at japanparts.com. This fake is half that cost. I don't plan to buy any of the low end stuff for my car, but the option is there for those with lower standards. |
Is this the same as the replica you are selling?

Real one is made in Italy. Replica is made in China but the box says Japan.

No, the real one is definitely made in Italy by Momo (TRD outsourced it to Momo)
the replica is made in China, but the Chinese put the label "Made in Japan" on it. To be honest, whatever money you saved buying the replica is your judgement. Some people want all genuine parts on their car.. I bought one from phanguy before, the price was right, and the quality was good enough. This is not a wheel/mechanical part where lesser quality will cause any danger :) I would assume over time the "genuine" piece will be more durable to normal wear and tear, but this is definitely a good looking knob that closely resembles the real deal. |
