This is a good deal. I did a group buy about a year ago and it is definitely a deal

Interested, depending on price. sold my AIM Solo (non-DL) with my Miata race car a few months back - shoulda kept the unit.... :( absolutely loved it, and the predictive lap timing was the best feature.

Also, the Race Studio Analysis feature is great, and really helps you pick out WHY your fastest lap was your fastest lap. Also, its a great tool if you have a pro driver take your car for a hot lap, and compare it in Race Studio Analysis over yours.

Here are two screen shots from Race Studio Analysis; first one shows the GPS Speed chart with two laps overlayed on top of each other to compare cornering speeds, entry speeds, rate of deceleration, how quickly I was going from throttle to brake (how "sharp" the spikes are in the chart). The second is neat, but not as useful for dissecting your lap times; it is a heat map of your speed at each particular spot in the track laid out on a track map.

Overall, I am negotiating for 15-20% off MSRP $699 so thats $105 to $140 off range.

I have this and using it in racing has a been a real plus. I also bring it with me when I'm instructing and by showing a student their data I can get their lap times down really fast (and as an instructor feel safer).

If you don't have this, you want this.

Buy this.

Aim Solo and Aim Solo DL are 2 different unit hence not applicable to each other. I recommend Solo DL because it plugs into the OBDII port and DL all data on the track, its amazing when you analyze these data at the end of the track day.

I'm interested as well. Depending on price I would consider cancelling my track day on the 19th so I can afford it! lol!

I miss my Race-Technology DL-1 that I got for about the same price and this looks pretty nice too, with OBD-II logging of the cars parameters....Hmmm, I really need to think about this in the next few days...

heeltoe86 05-05-2013 11:05 AM

What inputs from OBDII or CAN does it log? How about coolant and oil temps besides throttle input?

The guys at AiM were able to get all the CAN data from the obd2 port, so you do not need to purchase the CAN connector if you are using on an 86. You only need the obd2 connector, which is convenient. Plug and play. Here are the channels available currently (unfortunately no oil temp or pressure available yet. They are working on it):

Cool! I don't think Oil pressure is integral to what I need. If I do end up with the AiM datalogger I'd like to have some sort of aftermarket coolant/oil temp gauges to quickly glance at while on track to see the health of the engine.

You will be able to do that without aftermarket gauges/probes if/when AiM figures out how to display the oil temp/pressure channels. The SoloDL can display any channel you want on screen along with lap times. We know the 86 ECU does log oil temp, but AiM hasn't figured out how to access it yet. If you look at the channels they originally had:
http://www.aim-sportline.com/downloa...12_100_eng.pdf
They've since added more if you compare to the screenshot I took of my computer. Hopefully they'll continue to add more channels.
