Steering grind

So Ive done a little bit of research on this already, but I am still stuck. I plan on taking it to the dealer but id like to be more aware of the issue before hand. Whenever I turn from a stop I get a bad grinding noise from the front wheels ( cant determine which one), it doesn't happen at speed or even all the time for that matter. Any clues or ideas you guys have? Power steering? Sway bar bushings? Ball Joints?

UPDATE: Dealer looked it over didn't see anything wrong with the important parts, after giving it some hell on the way back to work it sounds more like my after market over rattling vibrating on something.

What aftermarket are you talking about?

FRiSson 04-30-2013 03:00 PM

Do they have aftermarkets in heaven?

Don't all of you guys have an after market? It makes the FR-S so much faster and more responsive. You just have to make sure you buy the correct after market and be especially careful to avoid before markets...those will make your car slower.

Do any of the after markets void warranty?

That depends, I'm pretty sure none of the postmarkets do.

King Tut 05-01-2013 11:48 AM

It is his aftermarket overpipe making the noise. You guys are brutal.

7thgear 05-01-2013 11:59 AM

Should have done your premarkets research on the aftermarkets. Now you might have broken your afterburner and preignition sensor. I’d check your intake welds just to be sure.

BRZnut 05-01-2013 11:59 PM

What ever you do, ignore the foreign market and don't buy your aftermarket stuff from the farmer market since the parts will rattle

Tylub 05-02-2013 01:24 AM

maybe the supermarket is will have better parts

sho220 05-02-2013 04:35 AM

I usually get my stuff from the black market. Only bad thing is they don't accept bits of string. Says so right here...

Hey man, at least you have a money market. Back in the day all we had were bazaars and bartering posts. You were lucky to get any sand out of the thing without blowing your flasks.

I try never to clam. I am not sure what it is.

7thgear 05-03-2013 08:42 AM

You don't clam? Fo'shame.

markmatley 05-03-2013 09:42 PM

In terms of the OP, I have grinding and popping noises when I turn the steering wheel full tilt. I think we just need to tighten up bolts in the front suspension area.

7thgear 08-11-2014 02:47 PM

back from the dead and with more seriousness!

after a 3700km road trip, split in half by a 2 day intense autocross, I now get some serious noises when turning the wheel at parking speed (ie, less than 5km)

it's very weird and I have no idea what it could be as I've not taken anything apart relating to the steering or suspension.

there is no noise with the car operating at regular speeds.

sad panda..
