post_break 04-26-2013 12:43 PM

I'd like to see some aluminum drive shafts and loops.

robispec 04-26-2013 12:52 PM

how about some superlightweight axles for the NA crowd? also it looks like the super low crowd (with extended rear travel) will need longer axles too...I just broke a bearing cage and the wear is in the outer third of the plunge joint

Robi inadvertently proves herrafrushcambermadlowtyteyo! bros ARE wrecking their cars.

Not saying Robi's car is like that since it's a racecar and all.

I'm a charter member of the "HelleFUNCTIONAL" group....

lol

We know :)

I'll keep this on my wish list for when my build gets to this point. No money for this currently.

Tansey86 04-26-2013 02:25 PM

Everything you'd need to upgrade in the rear for hard launches with a lot of power at the strip.

light and strong sometimes are hard to put into the same axle, NA cars have instentanious Hp and will give an axle a good shock Factor. with dimensions i can custom make the bars to the right length (actuall have them already) we can lighten the inner CV also

here is the "Wall of bars"

Just broke one tonight will be ordered on Monday

Captain Snooze 04-27-2013 12:09 AM

Why does The Driveshaft Shop give whp ratings? I would have thought torque would have been the measurement to use.

ben15r 04-27-2013 04:39 PM

We were looking at mine when we pulled it today it looks like the harder the car squats the more angle you get in the inboard joint and the shorter the distance from the hub to the diff becomes.

my question, do these allow for more angle?

robispec 04-27-2013 04:49 PM

My wear pattern was at the outboard end of the inner joint..as the car squats the axle lengtj gets longer. Not shorter...

ben15r 04-27-2013 04:59 PM

when the suspension was completely relaxed the distance from the hub to the diff is longer than when the suspension was as compressed as we could get it

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=34943

there are the pix from this morning, I have been lowered since about aug

ben15r 04-27-2013 05:34 PM

I wont argue with you over the travel because my brother doesn't remember if he measured the same points or not (he can be a major pain) but he was under it, either way my wear was in the middle of the slip joint and the cage has marks on it that that look like it bound against the slip joint if that makes sense I am trying to understand all of this.

it looks like it is under a hard angle that is what seems to be the cause but again I don't really know.

continuecrushing 04-27-2013 05:56 PM

It's good to see more cf driveshafts being offered, should help price wise if there's competition/different options for people to pick up

no argument intended just reporting my findings...
My car has 10K miles at a 3" drop from stock my axles at this ride height are already running uphill to the wheel assembly.
7 of the 10K are trackday/roadracing miles
My front and rear tires rub on the upper fender liner in the rear at full compression as we have extended the stock travel 3" in front and 3.25 in the rear (limits of the upwards travel is the upper fender liner inner fender steel)

ben15r 04-27-2013 08:36 PM

I am not lowered nearly as far as you, but I do not know what the up travel is but when it squatted in second it was done,

Ill throw a stock shaft in it save for upgrades and run the coil overs on hard when I drag race

Knickstape 05-03-2013 02:55 AM

I see you offer an aluminum version on ft86speedfactory, but not on your main site. I have an auto and was wondering If the MT and AT shafts the same? It doesn't state on there

Driveshaft Shop 05-06-2013 05:06 PM

As of right now we do not offer a aluminum version for this car. We also are in the middle of building a driveshaft for the auto transmissions.

Ozzman 05-06-2013 10:02 PM

I've heard of the benefits of one piece drive shafts. What I would like to know is why do so many car manufacturers run 2 piece drive shafts on automobiles?

NVH ....... Noise vibration harshness. If your more concerned about performance,...your less concerned about NVH.

Driveshaft Shop 05-07-2013 07:27 AM

ok, Auto shafts will be made shortly. we have the sample and its a go........

Destroyed the bearing cage. I was drag racing felt like a good launch no wheel hop, and when I hit second it just let go.

AZFA20 05-07-2013 12:36 PM

Are there any CF MT shafts on the shelf at this time or is there still a few weeks lead time?

MikeyBRZ 05-07-2013 02:11 PM

Has anyone done a before and after dyno of the 1 piece cf shaft yet?

Its taking about a week to build once they are ordered

JordanWho 07-22-2013 07:41 AM

Just broke a bearing casing. Looking at the 600HP axles. PM sent.

FastLane1000 07-22-2013 10:07 AM

Any details on NVH compared to stock? Are there any negatives we should expect?

NVH like some others have stated but I'd like to add that it probably had a lot to do with engineering and cost. Meaning its easier and cheaper to engineer a two piece steel driveshaft vs a one piece aluminum/carbon and also tunnel space probably was part of the equation too.

FT-86 SpeedFactory 08-21-2013 05:17 PM

Just got ours in for the shop car not too long ago. Had to give it the treatment in the photo room.

This carbon version is so light...tough to perceive unless you are actually holding it. :w00t:
